oh, sorry for the false alarm guys!
ED: althought i am still surprised that this is not a 'branded' handset. anyway, i shall edit my first post to prevent needless excitement
Sorry to quote/bump myself but can someone let me know if this will work please?Sounds daft, but can i put the 3 rom back on with 2.1 as the firmware?
Thanks again to all involved, if i can help, please ask![]()
You only get it from your network if the phone is branded. Heroes sold by Orange/T-Mobile/3 are all branded and run firmware customised by the network.
I don't know if AMC brand their phones, but if you tell us your build number in Settings >> About Phone we can figure it out.
I saw online this morning on the news that it was now released! I got very excited but I still have no idea how we get it! Plus, not sure about the source.

I have an unbranded hero from CPWH. Does anyone know how to get this upgrade? It says that it is over the air. How does that work?
My hero has become so slow that I really want this now! Seems like we all do.....

I put generic HTC rom, got the updates to 2.1 but wondering if i can stick the 3 rom over the top of 2.1
Thanks in advance

Can do with wi-fi.
I had the three app but for what i needed was the same as having a bookmark to three's homepage.

This gets weirder. Part of where i live, i cannot get H signal and it goes to 3G roaming.
I am not sure. The part of where i live, it's the back of the property and it's ALWAYS 3G roaming in there. There's a 3UK outage in your area perhaps? By the sounds of it your handset is handing-off to the roaming network (O2 iirc) when it gets a signal.

As Moko76 suggested, the 3 rom reverted the f/w to 1.5.
Glad you sorted it out in the end.
