Root Official HTC EVO Design 4G

I've used the facial recognition on both the Evo V and the Evo Design. They both seem to pick up my face even in low lighting.

The Evo Design is slower to unlock. I'm just thinking that's normal. The phone is a single core. The speed is okay but it's not that big of a jump from the Marquee.

Right now I'm facing an error 67 on the Design too. It won't connect to the data network. I'll have to troubleshoot it when I get to work.

Well the good thing about HTC's face unlock is that if the lighting is too low or fails to read my face for whatever reason, it will go to a secondary unlock screen where I can either type a pin code or use a pattern. :D

Once I updated my prl I stopped getting that. Was happeNing to me for 2 days depending on location

Finally it stopped. Data is working okay again.
I find it a little weird it says EvDo instead of 3G, I wonder what it'll show for 1x?
On the V it shows 3G or 1x.

A friend of mine got this phone today and I got a chance to play with it. Honestly, I can't see a big enough jump to justify paying another $300 for it when it's not that much faster than the Marquee. It says HTC, doesn't feel like it though. I think I would rather get the Evo V and switch to VM. Now it's just a waiting game to see what the next 4G phone Boost gets is gonna be.

Well compared to the Marquee it feels a lot more sturdy. That and it hasn't been overclocked yet (with the lastest kernel anyway, there is one oc enabled kernel floating around, but it's the pre June update I think)

This phone can be oc'ed to 1.8ghz. Lets see the Marquee try and get that without exploding. :P

The HTC is also easier to mod. My first custom rom ever I successfully compiled a week ago for this phone. I even figured out how to unsecure the kernel (literally 5 minutes ago, I managed to find out how to do it. :D )

So my phone modding career officially began with the Design 4G. :D

dont let boost sucker us into buying a phone that we dont need. Wi-max is a thing of the past. sprint is already developing 4g lte networks. Infact they have released lte phones already. The design is a waste unless you live where the 4g wi-max is in place. and remember audiovox makes it

Does anyone have this issue.. ok under the notification light on the top left there is a tiny dim red light that comes on and everytime it comes on my buttons on the bottom don't light up. Does anyone know what or why this happends???

Hmmm.. yeah when it happens again see if there's a little dim red light that's on under where the notification light blinks on the top left next the HTC logo.

im curious to see what kind of quadrants/benching that phone will do once oc'ed.

i would disagree about htc phones being easier to mod though. honestly there is much more to rooting and modding htc phones not under the wing of revoloutionary. the vm 3d has been quite a pain in the ass. unlocking bootloaders..s-off/wire trick..downgrading hboot..better learn adb and fastboot commands because you will most deff. need it..radios, pri's all kinds of crap. lol.

but i am kinda glad i went with the vm 3d and not the design. i havent read to many good things about either, but as far as hardware goes the vm 3d is a beast. luckily we have pretty well ridden the coat tails of the sprint 3d. small changes and ports to get everything working but nothing complicated..speaking of oc..we can oc to 1.94ghz..and thats dual core buddy :D

i have the evo design from boost and i must say my old marquee is not in the performance league with this htc. nor does the marquee match it for build quality. even sense is a better operating system. this is right out of the box. i too have the 3vo v. i wouldnt compare it to the design because specs are to mismatched. the marquee has good performance once modded and overclocked. the wimax is an extra 3g was fast enough for me.
