For everyone wondering about the evo vs inc, there are two things you can do to help you decide. First check the sprint and VZW coverage map in your area and ask people about their experience. If sprint sucks then your choice is easy, but if they are close then that makes it tougher. The other thing you can do is go to a T-Mobile store and play with a HD2. It has the same size as the evo so you can compare. You will either love the size or hate it. Just some advice to put out there.

due to all the mounting complaints listed below about the N1 ... is there any concern about these issues finding their way onto the incredible? or are these phones (incred and N1) not that closely "related" in build?

N1 issues:
1) 3G connectivity issue
2) Touch Screen unresponsiveness/sensing incorrect input
3) unresponsive trackball
4) WIFI connectivity issue
5) Lock button response issue
6) Proximity sensor sensitivity issue
7) Ambient light sensor issue
8)bluetooth issues: fails to operate; inadequate volume; intermittent failure to accept commands
9) speaker: horrible sound quality
10) ringer: insufficient volume
11) earpiece: insufficient volume
12) headset connector: headphones cord activates pause or other functions
13) manufacturer says phone cannot go in pocket
14) Phone mutes when calling people and can only be unmuted by turning mute on then off!
15) missed call notification trackball does not flash

Is Verizons coverage and service really that much better than Sprint?

I ask out of sincere curiosity, I'm currently with Verizon and it is great service, before that I was with AT&T for about 10 years and they were great till the merger with Cingular and then they went to the dump BIG TIME. Dropped calls all the time, you name it.

Is Verizon loads better than Sprint across the board or just in certain areas? I'm in the Phoenix, AZ area and Sprint won't have the 4G going anytime soon anyways, but when I look at the specs on the EVO, it just seems like a no brainer sort of. Especially when you factor in the minimum $30 to $40 a month cheaper bill?

I would really wonder how Sprint compares to Verizon though, because at the end of the day, it is still a phone and I still need to make and receive calls. :) Doesn't really matter if you have the best phone if it can't even do what it is designed to do.

Who knows? That 4.3" screen looks pretty sweet though, and really it seems to have as good or better specs on EVERYTHING compared to the Incredible.

Aaaahhhh, decisions, decisions.

I am in Phoenix and have had both Sprint and Verizon and know people currently with Sprint and Verizon is clearly superior to Sprint in my experience.

Hey guys, just a question pertaining to the aesthetics of the phone. Do we know if the final model will have the red ring around the camera?

My current moto has a red ring around it.
Its not bad considering you can pick it out quickly in a line up. I dont mind having a phone that DOES NOT look like a kitchen appliance in Martha Stewarts house.

Heck if I could have my choice, I'd slap a shiny green ring around it, but thats just how I roll...

So what is going to be leaked today? Pictures, video, photo of testman actually having the phone on it? They give me an inch and I want to take a mile

I am thinking that we shouldn't see these same issues (Not saying there won't be issues), but with Verizon's track record of testing phones and with what NKT has said, I think there has been some thorough testing completed.

I can't imagine they wouldn't have fixed any issues like that if they knew about it in advance.

Most of these questions were already asked and answered near the beginning of this thread....essentiality the answer is no the Incredible does not suffer the same issues as the Nexus according to early testers that had the phone. You can thank Sterickson and NKT for that info.

one catch to the Wireless N standards that my previous research turned up when the subject was first brought up: N is the fastest, but much like the good ol a/b/g days, the router will only go as fast as the slowest device using it. in other words, unless you're running a "pure" N network, you'll still only be seeing B/G speeds

EDIT: Night Nash. Night rest of the forum.

MIMO routers can broadcast both speeds so you do not have to sacrifice your 802.11n network when you fire up an older machine. I run an 802.11n network at home and run both. My speed on the main PC does not drop when I fire up my Tablet that still uses 802.11g wireless.

Last I herd all 802.11n routers were MIMO since they get their extended range by broadcasting multiple signals and maximizing use of signal bouncing off walls and whatnot.

I'm really ooking forward to the Incredible especialy to replace my failing MotoQ 9c and actually have data service at home again!

There's no way to know for sure about ANY of these issues until the phone is released.

I think that the Desire would be a closer comparison than the N1 so you may want to check the Desire Forums. I haven't taken the time to look into if any of these issues are present on the Desire.

Hey everybody, I have been following this forum closely but only joined recently. I don't want to go too off topic but thought I would reply to this comment considering I have seen others worried about this as well. I currently have the Nexus One on AT&T. This is the new version that just came out last month and works with AT&T 3G. I have had nothing but great experiences with this phone, service and all. Out of this entire list of "issues" the only that has ever happened to me personally was "15) missed call notification trackball does not flash" but that was quickly solved by rooting my phone and importing the Desire ROM. I cannot wait for the Incredible to arrive and with the little exposure to the Desire ROM that I did have, I can guarantee you all that the wait is well worth it. Thank you to everyone for their updates and information and keep up the great work!! Back to work now :)

just pull up the coverage maps for both in your area and compare the 3g. if sprints 3g compares with verizon you should be golden. no need to worry about voice coverage since sprint can roam on verizons towers (voice only) free of charge.

It all depends on where you want to go. I have had Sprint for several years, and just got done touring the entire US during the last year and a half. During that trip I never had one dropped call and only didn't have service if I was in a place with steep canyon walls around me. Part of that is hardware, I have had more dropped calls in the last 2 weeks that I have had the Hero (and yes, it is going back before the 30 days are up) than the 6 years before.

Now when it comes to data there is no comparison. During the trip I also had to work using a Sprint data card. Unless I was sitting in the heart of a major city I usually had to deal with either slower speeds or it would fluctuate between the two. Everywhere I had weak signals or slow internet there was someone else with a Verizon card with strong signal and fast speed. I have had a Verizon data card for a while now and love it so much better.

So if where you live and play has great coverage with them it is probably fine. If you plan to travel a bit and want good data coverage then Verizon is the way to go.

cool.. thanks.

i realize there are no guarantees and there is always/often 1 or 2 issues. but the N1 seems to have a LOT of issues.

thanks all for the input and responses...

They dont seem to list the class of the cards at Newegg. they had a cheap 16gb card but i found out from customer reviews that it was a class 2 and i already have a class 4 8gb from an eris.

Yeah, a while back I picked up a 16gb card for my Curve from Newegg. Honestly, it wasn't until recently I learned about the whole class system for SD and, sure enough, the card I have is Class 2. This would explain why it takes so damn long to take a picture or skip from 1 song to the next.

Maybe they can leak some information about the supposed 8gb built in. I don't see how it would even work. Either it doesn't have it or it has customizations not found on any other phone. Users would have to select either the built in sd or the built in memory creating possible confusion/support issues or it has a custom version of app2sd where the ROM is only used for the OS and apps get installed automatically on the built in memory. So far I haven't seen anything official that would lead me to think it has an 8gb memory independent of a sd card. Just ROM/RAM plus sd.

The problem with the N1 is that Google released the phone but didnt have an adequate technical support system in place. From what I've read its basically a "help forum" and if you cant get your issues resolved there, tough. VZW technical help is a big advantage over the N1 to me, the fact that VZW has extreme internal testing doesnt hurt either...

Maybe?

No, the phone comes with 8gb on board, just like the Palm Pre Plus. It also has a microSD slot for storage.

First of all...first post here; thanks to all for the wealth of info, particularly in the last few days. Definitely looking forward to this phone's arrival and replacing my 1st gen Storm. :)

Secondly, IRT to Nitecaller, Yami and you are both right...sorta-kinda.

There are routers that default to slowest network device, B, G etc. and there are routers that do both. But you can't lump all routers in either category.

Simulataneous DUAL BAND routers are the only ones that are capable of running multiple (2) networks at once...Netgear WNDR3700, Linksys WRT610n and 400n, Dlink DIR-825 to name a few. Then there is the fact that N can be 2.4 or 5 ghz.

Someone mentioned yesterday, that the phone's cpu will probably bottleneck throughput anyway, so we will probably never see the true benefit of N band on the phone. Best case is for those folks that have latest equipment (Lappies, netbooks, Xbox 360, etc) all running on N network won't have to change router settings to use the phone in wifi mode.

Not trying to put a damper on things, because this is the case in my house, and a very nice benefit.

Anyway, thanks for all the great info...looking forward to more in the future and chatting up with all you folks.

No idea when this thread will end, so I wanted to thank all of you for an interesting, fun, well-run discussion. (Anominac, special thanks~!) Montana Man, thanks for your hunting... can't come up with something every time, eh? Of the Damned: Boy, you must be popular at Verizon! I've just been lurking, enjoying the ride.
Oh: As far as the "gay" thing went? As a former "Monterey Mary" (linguist) in the Army, I should mention that during the Cold War, the gay (and straight) linguists made sure the Soviets didn't make any plans we didn't know about. Thank them!

Full page color ad in the Washington Post this morning, pushing guess what?

DROID DOES APPS

Its actually a pretty good ad, but its another example of VZW pushing their Droid branding. Seems odd that they are not leveraging all this investment by releasing the Inc as a Droid Somethingorother.

So long as we have the Inc in our hands by the end of April, I could care less about their marketing. Still, it seems like a major opportunity lost for VZW.

Anonimac: I am not sure if this has been posted yet, but in the user's guide on the bottom of the first page it says "HTC Incredible with Google." In the same spot on the Eris's user guide it says "Droid Eris by HTC." Does this "with Google" marking on the Incredible have any indication that future OS updates will be pushed out over the air in a more timely fashion, or am I just overlooking that whole marking?

And once again, a simple click of the thanks button isn't enough...Thank you for all of your information and work that you have put into this thread to keep it running as smoothly as possible. Your hard work is definitely appreciated!

I mentioned this a couple times yesterday, but didn't notice any responses. Usually "With Google" means the phone is the Google Experience, meaning only stock Android. HTC has only put it on the phones without Sense and I think the Droid. But that's not the case here, so I'm not sure what exactly it means. Anybody have any ideas?

All they did was take the render from the evergreen thread and use it. It was created by someone here and is by no means official.

Did they? I dont see those pictures there. I know they arent official, I was just wondering whether the final model would/wouldnt have the silver ring around the trackpad.
