In preparation for my new INCREDIBLE phone, I'm looking for someone to donate a google voice invite to me. Anyone have one to spare? Pretty please??

Also, anyone else from the Tallahassee area? Just curious who I am going to be waiting with in line on release date

Huston, I live in Tallahassee and might be picking one of these up.

I will try it at the store first, then probably get one from bestbuy if I like it.

If it's not supported on the Moto, I doubt it.

If the browser doesn't support HTML5 today, it will soon.
The only browsers that support HTML5 today are based on Webkit. Webkit is the basis for Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome browsers. Its also the base for the browser used on Android phones and the iPhone.

Lets hope it's not the last one....fight to the death...haha

JK - I'm not that fanatical....I think

From page 17

Storage card
Store your pictures, music, and applications in the microSD card (sold separately).

Google's Android doesn't allow apps to be installed on removable media so that you cannot easily copy the applications to other phones without paying for them.

This isn't going to change until Android provides a DRM wrapper for apps on removable media.

So, regardless of what the manual says, you're not going to be able to install Android market apps onto the SD card.

Wrong - both Firefox (using the Gecko Engine) and Opera (using the Presto engine) have HTML5 support.

No luck with the Google Voice invite I guess....bummer

still waiting...

I've got 2 left, pm me your email address.

Big thanks to everyone providing valuable info about this phone! Looking forward to its release!

I'm out of invites, if I get any more I'll post a tread updating.

Nashdroid did an excellent job with a photo shopped Incredible. His photo looks like the one in the user guide, if the user guide will stay current with the photo.

AF best site for up to the minute info on the INCREDIBLE!

I think the logos will both be at the top like the EVO.

The placement of those looks weird IMO.

I went to FAMU, and FSU, and Rickard's for one year. I live in ATL now, but I might be back in Tally visiting when the Incredible is released. If so, I'll be at the VZW on Appalachee PKWY. lol

Eris manual says the same thing.

Doesn't android force you to install the actual app (like a .exe type thing) on the phone but you can store some of the media and stuff that goes along with the app on the card? maybe that is what they are referring to. This means the actual space taken up on the phone is really small but the total size of the app can be bigger. This is just what i have heard not positive though.

Hoping this isn't too off topic because it relates directly to the Inc. Any idea how fast the phone can read/write to the micro sd card? I definitely want to get one but I'd recently read that most phones can't read/write faster than class 2 and I don't want to pay 2-3 times more for a faster card if the phone can't take advantage of it. What class do you think is really usable for the phone (not over or underbuying speed/class)?

This is definitely a release-day purchase for me. Will this be available at VZW stores on 4/29, or just Best Buys?

Also, since I currently have the 450min voice plan (for $39.99), I cant do one-year upgrades. What's the chance that the VZW store will let me dump my Storm 1 and sign a new contract (I'm on month 14 of a 24 month contract)? I have no problem with paying the unsubsidized price, but I'd like to know all my options.

In-store, no chance at all. Best chance will be to call customer service and see if they'll move up your upgrade.. it'd only be moving it up 6 months, so you might have a shot.. Good luck!!

Ok, I overstated.

My understanding is that webkit is a leading platform for HTML5 implementation. As an example, QuakeII has been demoed running on Safari and Chrome. They do not mention any other browsers.

Firefox is not being as aggressive implementing features that are still being debated. HTML5 is not yet finalized.

Hey Morning everyone (well I guess almost afternoon now lol)

It's pretty sweet we received the user manual and other stuff (thanks to all of those involved!).

I think this is on topic and will pertain to the incredible...

I know some people have been talking about the battery life (146 hours standby?)... Ouch, but I think we can all take steps to improve the battery life. 1 thing I have been talking to NKT about is the battery and APPs came up..

I have never owned a smartphone so I don't know what APPs kill the battery. I will work on a "Battery saving post" if people would be kind enough to PM me their own tips, BUT more IMPORTANTLY the APPs that kill battery life. Pretty much popular, basic APPs that most of us will download.

I'd like to help us all out as much as possible. I am anal when it comes to battery life, so I am hoping to have my incredible dialed in. Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Heck... I've had a smartphone for years, now.. I am just going to get myself a better battery. :)

it does, and the apps don't really "install" like in windows. think of them as stand alone .exe file with no registery keys

Ok, so i've now found out from independent sources that there is, as reported, 8 GB internal storage, which, when paired with a microSD card show up as two independent drives when mounted (attached via USB) to a PC.

Hope this clarifies, and ends, the debate on whether there is or isn't 8 GB of internal storage. There is! It's not the SD card inserted! It's not in the SD card in the phone so that's why it's 8 GB and not shown as shipping with a card! etc, etc...

8GB of internal, non-SD-card-related, storage!

BooYaaaaah!!!!

I also have to charge my Voyager daily so it won't be an issue for me either. In fact, on some days, I have to do a mid day charge right now so if I can get away with a simple charge overnight each night, I'll be happy. :)
