 I can just hear the customer service rep tell me that since it's an unreleased phone and Verizon never confirmed it; it is my fault for waiting -- oh and by the way - want a droid?!!?

Yep. I realize I'm getting all worked up over speculation here, but I would be super pissed if I waited all this time just to find out Verizon decided to scrap the Incredible for some reason. If it's got bugs, fix it then release it, but don't leave us hanging!

No. Here's the actual quote:

"Regarding the other device you mentioned [Incredible], I can't share anything on that device. There are too many variables associated with our selling devices inclusive of their passing our testing process for me to share anything about a device that we aren't currently selling. There are many devices that we plan to sell that don't pass our testing and we choose not to sell them."

what i am getting from this is just hey sorry i cant discuss this phone with you no mater how tight we are. let me throw together a hard to fallow email to him so im not saying it exist or doesnt

True, but if you take the other rumors about the Incredible going back for a re-design and not coming out for a couple of months, then what s(he) is saying makes a lot of sense. I'm reading between the lines here.

thats what i got too...i'm guessing this guy knew whatever he said was going to get published here...so he was very careful with his words.

For them not to put something up against the Desire on AT&T would be, for lack of a better term, business suicide. Imagine someone who wants to jump into the smartphone world - aka your average consumer. They see VZW with an N1 that they're (possibly) not selling in stores versus AT&T who has the crowds gawking for the past 3 years over the iPhone, and now the Desire. And now enter T-mobile who is jumping in the high tier smartphone realm. For that average joe and his teenage daughter who have heard all the hype about smartphones from this person and that person, and who probably care for appearance more than actual specs, VZW does not look very appealing.

How funny/sad would it be if Incredible was really just a giant hoax started by AT&T or Sprint or T-Mo as a way to piss off Big Red's constituents enough to switch? (Wasn't it a Sprint employee who leaked the original vid?)

Hey guys, I have been lurking here since October 2009. Finally decided to join to get your opinion on this link/ article. Not sure how legit it is but let me know what you think it could be potentially bad news.

Thanks for all of the info you guys have been providing, I love this forum and watch it all day at work.

HTC Incredible: New Photos and Release Date

*these are not new pics as we have all seen them before, there is info about the phone possibly being delayed but does not look too legit

Anymore, anything without a source or reasonable logic as to why the Incredible is delayed, will be released, or has specs different from what we've already deducted, I will not believe.

The blogger who wrote this gives nothing except it may not come before May. Not because of the screen, not because of the form factor, not because of any hardware. No reasoning except Verizon's testing.

Don't take this as a anything against you Omega3, it isn't. I'm just sick of blog posts with no evidence to back it up. But thanks for posting anything that may help.

Call me optimistic, but I doubt we would see Verizon branding on a phone that had the chance of being scrapped all together. I know Verizon has delayed phones before because of issues, but I HIGHLY doubt the Incredible is going to be scrapped. Companies go into the design knowing what Verizon wants and expects, so I can't see them going into testing phase with something so far from Verizon's standards that it would justify a scrapping.

I didn't find it hard to follow in the least. The translation is:

Look! How can I make an announcement of a product that hasn't even passed inspection, yet? How can I announce a product that might fail altogether? Wouldn't that make me (us) look like idiots?

I'm sure these people know that they would get criticized if they let the cat out of the bag too soon or not soon enough. Reading between the lines and taking what this official said in the context of the rumor that the Incredible was sent back for re-design, it makes perfect sense to me.

Don't you even go there! I came on here tonight hoping for breaking news about a release and now I feel like I got kicked in the nuts instead.

Agreed.

I am now thinking that if this phone or a desire type phone doesnt come out by the time i go to the boundary waters this spring that i might just stay up there where there is no cell phones or internet

I'm only the messenger. I feel the same way. I'm asking myself, now, "should I wait to upgrade until the summer if indeed the N1 isn't sold by VZW (I'm on the family plan) or should I just buy the Droid now?"

Yeah, I'm on the same boat as you. As close as Steven and his source were, I don't think he was willing to risk his job.. and knowing how rumors on the internet spread like wildfire, he did not want to be responsible for shooting out such a speculation. So instead, he throws a few hypothetical situations to somewhat explain that there may or may not be a delay.

Guys, relax. Let's wait until CTIA and see if there isn't any concrete news before we go jumping off buildings. (And if there isn't, then jump away)

Steven58 sounds a LOT like a guy who has been BOOTED from multiple threads for spreading "insider" information that is not true. I wish I could remember the dudes screen name, but he was booted multiple times.

I am going to stick with the belief that the Incredible is still coming..regardless of what this guy says....

I have a friend at Verizon who just told me that the Incredible was launching tomorrow...he is VERY high up...like Obama high...LOL Whatever people we will see what happens later this month

in fact: based upon the info I was given, I may just settle on the DROID.

I'm getting closer to that too. Especially since they're BOGO right now, then husband can have one too (the man works hard. he deserves it). I just wish I could devise some secret method for getting one with a good keyboard.

I'm sure these people know that they would get criticized if they let the cat out of the bag too soon or not soon enough. Reading between the lines and taking what this official said in the context of the rumor that the Incredible was sent back for re-design, it makes perfect sense to me.
Lets be honest.. weird curves/ridges and a bright red back aren't exactly going to get you the best of complements in the working environment (unless you are a clown and work for the circus, then my apologies)

I'm in the same boat I guess. If the Incredible does turn out to be delayed until God knows when and if the N1 isn't available to those of us on family plans for some reason, the Droid is my only real option.

i didn't say i found it hard to follow...i said he was VERY careful with his words...much more careful than you were on your first post. He said that he could not comment on a device that had not passed yet. You summarized to tell us this guy was saying it had already failed.

Sounds like a typical non-disclosure statement to me.

I totally agree. I just won't jump off a building, I might buy the Droid! ;)

Regarding waiting for announcements, I'm just preparing myself for the worst, because I was waiting at feverish pitch for the VZW iPhone to be announced by Steve Jobs as the "one more thing" bonanza, which never happened.

I see the same thing happening here on this forum. We're all like sharks (myself included) circling around the rumor pool hoping that something will come about and we end up making self made rumors that go nowhere (sometimes) and then get bitterly disappointed when they don't happen. (me and the vzw iPhone).
