Not trying to sound like an ass...on the surface, this just seems comical to me. Haven't seen any such test, but came up with this test scenario:

"Hmmm, what can I possibly have in my pocket with my phone?"

Keys-check
Coins-check
Screw (leftover from unknown project)-check
Diamond ring to propose to girlfriend-check

*places items in large Crown Royal bag...shakes vigorously for 30 seconds to simulate being in pocket all day. Pulls phone out out of bag...ho-lee shitttt!!! My brand frickin new Incredible...wasted. F*********K!!!!*

Nope, just can't see it happening :D

Hovercraft,

Take a look at the videos I've linked to below. They are both torture (scratch) tests for the moto droid and nexus 1. The moto droid uses Gorilla glass, which we know is not what HTC has gone with on the N1/Inc. The N1 video clearly shows how the screen is resistant to several strikes from the owners key, which is reassuring to me. However, one of the reviewers of the droid Inc mentioned that the phone already had scratches with very little in-pocket time. I do not recall if there was clarification made on whether the scratches were on the screen or the plastic area surrounding the screen.

While the latter of your two scenarios are far-fetched, what I had in mind was a bit more real-world. For example, if I drop my pen on my phone since it is never far away from me while at work. Another example is using my shirt to clean my screen while in work/dress attire and having a button accidentally graze the screen.

While determining the scratch resistance may be insignificant info for you, I am basing my pre-order of the phone on it. If the screen proves to be prone to scratching from normal day-to-day use, then I will wait till Seido makes a case and Zagg makes a screen protector.

I'm curious. If I were to order my phone online could I cancel it in a couple of days if it doesn't ship?

Uh so let me get this straight...

No installed apps on the internal memory. No micro sd card. Customrs are expected to purchase a microsd for a huge functionality of the phone (apps)??

Dumb and not very incredible.

I would agree that it is frustrating not being able install apps to the internal memory (yet). Howevever, with 8GB of internal storage, lots of people will not feel the need to buy a storage card, myself included.

So if I ordered today, technically I might receive a shipping confirmation tomorrow? Hypothetically, of course.

Walked into my Verizon store on 4/19 to see if I could use a $50 coupon I received in February for a new smart phone (no expiration date)

Sure no problem....paid $265 incl. tax with mail in rebate eligible (-$100)

Was told by Verizon it would be delivered on April 29th but just checked FedX tracking and Incredible is only 1 state away in CT and scheduled to arrive tomorrow!

Called to have distribution facility hold for pick up as for some reason I always miss FedX yet never miss UPS. According to FedX, Verizon doesn't allow this until at least one attempted home delivery is made.

Psyched to have for long weekend biking around Vinyard.

Is this a mistake. Apparent phone shipping originated in Pennsylvania (I am in Western MA)

no it sounds like you are one of the lucky few who got there phone early

Based on early information you'll definitely want at least a small 2GB card. The problem seems to be that some apps that require writing info to an SD card do not see the on board memory. So you'll need a card for those apps until that issue is resolved.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess I can use the 2GB from my BB Tour.

I didn't see this covered in any of the review but what effect (if any) does turning off haptic feedback have on battery life? I'm not a big fan of haptic feedback to begin with but I'm hoping that turning it off will also provide a boost to battery life.

Doesn't Seido normally make screen protectors as well? If so, which is generally better quality, Seido or Zagg?

Seidio does indeed make them, however what differs between them, aside from material used to make it, is the application method.

Zagg uses a sponge which contains the solution needed to apply the protector. From my understanding, Seidio simply uses a peel-n-stick method.

I wanted to try something other than Zagg since I hate to put liquid on my device. In their defense, I've had Zagg's invisibleshield on my iphone for some time and it has protected it flawlessly.

Here's a few outdoor pics...it's a bit deceiving because the camera lens, angle, etc... give the impression the screen is hard to read but it is in fact quite good...one of the pics shows this and several external reviews confirm this.

that is really good news, thanks anon! not that I have to worry about it much, I live in oregon...

FYI Guys, I saw a article this afternoon stating the DI cannot format a 32gb memory card properly. Google says it will be addressed in a future update. Now, imho, since HTC isnt first on the list for upgrades, how long will it take for us to catch up?

i am not sure what other people are planning on putting on their phones but i got a 8gb card plus the onboard storage. that will take me forever to fill up just that. i have 30gb ipod for my music and 2tb of storage on my pc for movies and stuff. i'm not bothered by the whole 32gb thing.

If you ordered it from the Vz store it almost sounds as if they got you the MotoDroid instead. Better double check it.

You can't install apps on a microsd card, either, so there goes your argument :-P
