I haven't had a chance to get an Incredible "in hand" yet, but all this talk about how cheap it feels has me a *little* concerned... Not enough to sway me away from it by any means, but it's not what I wanted to hear. I've spent way too much money over the years on fine watches, pens, even tools. I love the way a nice piece of equipment feels (That's what she said... :D ), and I'll gladly pay a premium for it... but not at the expense of functionality or in this case having to go with an iPod, WM, WebOS, etc...

I'd love to have the guys who did the mechanical design on the Motorola Devour take a crack at something with the Incredible's form factor. Perhaps we'll get really, really lucky and somebody will make a nice aluminum back for the Incredible. :D

I know how he feels, I am about to be 22, and been married for 3 years and I know that you don't want the lady mad. It's a lesson if your smart, you learn it early or marriage is going to be a lot harder than it needs to be.

The whole "if the wife isn't happy nobody is" song and dance is just some tired old BS from dudes that don't have their crap together and neither do their women. Just like you said: It's just a phone. Because it's just a phone and not a life-threatening anything we're not animals caged up in a cell where we're not allowed to do anything we want especially when it affects nobody else except a "cheap" personality. When you're dead you don't take anything with you. Not your clothes, your family, your money, nothing. You're just dead and say "take it all I'm done". If the wife/husband isn't happy for something as dumb as getting a phone, then get a new spouse. If you got the cash and it doesn't hurt your family/finances, nobody should tell you what to do. If you're broke and your wife is trying to manage for something more important, then your wife is right and you're the dummy for getting something you can't afford. Pretty straightforward.

Seriously, in carrier studies, Verizon stores are always criticized for their staff. Studies always find staff members to be rather impersonal and not as knowledgeable about their products as one would expect.

Phone customer service on the other hand gets a lot higher ratings. Studies always finds calling Verizon to be a much more enjoyable experience and again I agree with that. The people in the call centers always seem a lot more friendly and willing to help you out.

This is so true. At least in my experience. I have been to the Verizon store near me a couple of times regarding this phone. I was surprised the manager of the store didn't know anything about it, STILL, when I was in on Monday. I don't think he was lying. I honestly believe he didn't know anything. It was embarassing for Verizon. It was one thing last week to not know anything or to lie about it because of NDA issues. But on the day it was announce and he was a manager...not cool.

I have usually found calling to be very good service and successful. However, I will say yesterday the woman I spoke to on the phone also had no idea what I wanted. I had called to order the phone. She was all ready to sell me the Ozone.

To be fair, the guy at BestBuy today had no idea what I was talking about either. While they had a flyer up about the Incredible pre-orders and he knew a lot had already sold on pre-order, he knew nothing about the phone. "Tell me about it," he said. I wrote down this address for him and told him this was the place for information.

I got the 3-pack of "Display Protectors" today, part #VZW63003PKSP, and I can tell you that they are completely clear. Also, they only cover the screen, not the buttons.

There have been explanations of why the wi-fi may have shown up as slower than expected. If both phones were pulling 1Mbs, that's at least 2Mbs total on his connection, and more than enough for anything you'd want to do on your phone.

I'm not sure where the argument regarding Kbs and Mbs came from, or was heading, but just as an FYI, 1000Kbs ≈ 1Mbs (1,024Kbs = 1Mbs).

Speed seems fine to me. Streams higher res Youtube with no problem. How fast does 3G need to be on a phone? Tethering with my laptop also seems just as fast as broadband for surfing and watching videos.

What are the options? All the other options have 3G and some faster (At&t), but you need to be around larger cities to get it. Sprint and (bless em') Tmo are much worse- especially Tmo. I live in Kentucky and get 3G out in the boonies, where At&t is 2G and Sprint and Tmo have no coverage at all. That is an advantage of working for a company that (used to) have corporate contracts with all major carriers. We have tried them all and in regions where we have businesses- Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Ohio, Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania NO other carrier touches Verizon (Tmo is the worst).

One thing that does suck is not being able to take a sim card from one phone to another. Verizon does suck, in that regard.
 
I dropped into my local verizon store today just on the off chance they might have a demo unit available for me to fondle...I mean er, look at...anyway, the lady in there told me they didn't have one and said noone in the company had one yet (which I'm sure is BS) she did say that they are trying to get rid of some old inventory to make room for the incredible, then asked if i knew anyone that was interested in a PDA. lol. anyway, this was just a small store and I really didn't expect them to have one anyway. she did say that they would have accessories available as soon as the incredible actually launches.

Same for me when i go into my local verizon. The manager honestly knew nothing about the incredible and told me he thought it might come out later this year and this was last week. Its like they go out of there way to be as uninformed as possible.

the tech lady in back said they were fielding a lot of intrest in their store. which is pretty good for seneca... ;)
 
Does anyone know if the map in google maps can be rotated using multitouch? That is, where you can use several fingers to "grab" the map and twist it.

The only wireless things I use are my laptops and the wireless speeds blow compared to the wired connections.
I have the 35 meg download/upload service, and it is , when I am on a wire,
wireless is only running at about 16-18, give or take, more or less.
I guess I'll see how much I like, or hate, the phone speed when it gets here, either way I know its better than my RAZR phone.

Maybe you need a new N router. Unless you live in a very big house, you shouldn't see that kind of droppoff. Still, 16-18 megabit is very solid.
 
just went to verizonwireless.com to see if they had updated their inc. acc. page since yesterday. and saw that the incredible is not on the midscreen banner anymore. any theories?
