Pre-fail really? It's not even the 29th yet, how can you call it a fail? Sure, some people got theirs early, but that's just a mistake. Unless the pre-orders get shipped out late and we don't receive the phone until after the 29th, I wouldn't call it a fail

I think what he was talking about was the same thing I mentioned earlier. They didn't explain that a few days after you pre-order your status goes back to being eligible for an upgrade because the phone that was ordered wasn't activated. They was a lot of confusion about the 8gb memory (onboard or in a microsd card), wifi 802.11n being available, ect. The first problem in my opinion was having the preorder start on a night when they do work on the site (took me a half hour to find that they do site maintenance on Sunday night from 12-6am). They knew they were going to do this release for awhile but the outcome made it seem like it was put together in a couple weeks. Most of the CSRs didn't know about the phone for a few days even after it was announced on the site. Either no one reads the internal memos or Verizon didn't do a very good job of informing their employees how it was going to work. If they had, no one should have gotten their phones this week because they wouldn't have been able to order them over the phone. Stuff like this worries me what phone delivery will be like.

Ok, fair enough. I thought he was referring to the pre-order itself. I did mine online and received my confirmation email from verizon right after i finished with my order. As far as I'm concerned, every thing is set to go.
There's no need for me worry about the order until after the 29th.

Yeah, I read about the status reverting back to eligible for upgrade. It happened to me too. I think a lot of us are really anxious and are looking into things too deeply. In my opinion, as long as you have the confirmation email with the order number, it's done - your order is in. There's no need to freak out about some status. At least not until after the 29th.

So, I went to the Verizon store tonight and played with the Incredible. WOW. What an amazing phone! It is really thin too! Almost like an iPod touch-- I cannot believe technology. The screen did seem to easily get finger prints on it, so good thing I bought the 3 pack of protectors. Also, at one angle I did see the dots-- woopey do (once again).
Then I asked CS (who, in the Mall of NH, are amazingly nice!) if they had any accessories in stock. and their answer was "yes". So lookey what I bought:
(I cannot get it to link, so)
The Fade-to-Black cover! It was in stock at the VZW store :)

Definitely some good points there.

Still, it's probably unnecessary for people to be overly concerned at this point. The ordering system via the internet is automated, so the database keeping information should work like for any other phone.

The main problem thus far is phones shipping out too early, not too late. The order processing warehouses have the hold and ship dates for the phones, and top management knows that they are priority as far as dissemination of information goes.

It seems that the glitch with telephone CSRs allowing Inc. orders to process through was sewn up within a day. Other than that, the only real major problem has been the (admittedly) awful timing of the cut-over to the new website redesign, running into the pre-launch window for the Inc.,
which caused the abysmal performance and time-outs we've all been experiencing.

My money is still on everyone's phone rolling out this week. Even with the few mishaps so far, I think they'll be even more adamant about making sure that those phones all roll out on time.

I think they should just call it the "pre-fail" because so many things have seemed off with all the misinformation, not knowing and such. At least it looks like a large part of the orders are going to go through a few days earlier, though!

I don't think anyone can say that anything has failed yet. When the 30th rolls around, and people have not received their phone, then you can start using the word 'fail' BUT, even then, From what I've read and been told, the official company line is that they will ship when available. So, if you still don't receive it on the 29th, VZ still hasn't failed.

I wonder if everyone complaining here also run to their bosses whining "it's not fair, Jimmy took a 32 minute lunch break and I only took 30 minutes"

....bunch of panty waists.

(now I wait for the replies.... "I just don't think that VZ should give some people the phone and not others, blah, blah, blah") grow the F' up!

fade-to-red? the two tone one right? i think i'll stop into my verizon sometime soon this week. is it thin? how does it look? i know you don't have the phone to put it on. but still wanna PM me some pix? or email? i've been dying to see it.

To break up the monotony of VZW pre=order status posts, I called my Best Buy where I preordered the Inc. and asked when I could expecgt them to arrive in store. I wa told that they will have them in stock on the 28th and will start calling people with pre-orders on that day.

If I wasn't using a bunch of reward zone bucks and a gift card I've had since x-mas I'd have ordered it online. Guess I gotta wait :(

Wierd, bestbuy.com has the Incredible on the cover and on page 4 of their Mobile Phone Buyers Guide and both places it reads "coming soon available in May"
Well, since they figure that each BB is going to have a very limited number of phones available on the 29th, and since there's a good chance that most of those will get taken by pre-orders, that they'd probably be better off just hedging their bets and saying May to be on the safe side, since May 1st is only two days after the launch anyway.

Anyone know how thick the extended battery is?

actually i might of just answered my own question, i believe it will be 1mm thicker. Looking at the pictures of the incredible and the launch guide the incredible has a flush black with the camera but with the extended battery it seems the battery part is raised up 1mm.b

I am not sure if anyone has responded to your question. I found out from Verizon that they charge tax on the full retail price of the phone if you live in California. So, even if you got the phone for $149 like I did or even for $99 like some people you still have to pay the sales tax on the full retail price of $529. It's a California thing. Nice, huh?

Directly from my Verizon Confirmation Email:

In California, sales tax is calculated on the full retail price of the device, not the discounted price you pay. In Nevada, sales tax is calculated on the inventory cost of the device.

I don't know the "inventory cost" of the phone.

In Virginia my tax was based on the purchase price of $99.99 for the first phone plus $199.99 for the second phone.

Thats awesome is it a physical card or is it done online? and can you add money to your paypal account and just use the card that way so you dont have to deal with your bank at all?

The plugin is built into the web browser but you can order a paypal debit card that is linked to your account. Also, you can add money to your account and paypal will pull from those funds first, then to the next level that you want funds taken out of. My bank has a low daily limit that I can use on my debit card, so I use the plugin for my internet sites plus adds a little peace of mind that my debit card isn't floating around on the internet.

I had my debit card linked to my Sirius radio account and when my 18 month contract was up they renewed it for another 18 months from my debit card. I am not sure if I will even have the auto another 18 months. So, anything that has a subscription from me gets the paypal plugin account.

Does anyone with the INC and who uses Google Voice tell me how the phone handles in and out going calls and text. I have GV but on a dumb phone I can not use most of the positive features. I read that there is some problems with installation, any truth to that?

Thanks

I realize I am late to thank everyone that replied to my posts, but thank you! I searched the thread and everyone that quoted me got a "Thanks". :)

Also, I just received the order number from my sister today and checked it and I'm also one of the people that haven't had their order processed. Then again, it's seeming as though all of these Incredible preorders are bogging their servers so bad that their data and such is probably getting skewed.

Anyway, I'm excited to finally see it change! Here's hoping Monday morning tells me something good! :D
The VZW site is going through routine maintenance and has been for quite a while.

I hope AF has prepared for the amount of pictures and posts that will occur from the 27th to the 29th when people get their phones... I myself made the girlfriend go and get her camera so I document this little guy's first steps.

Just got the shipment notification email at 7:40 AM. Estimated delivery 4/28 (2-day shipping). I just wonder if everyone is getting 2-day shipping no matter that it said overnight online, especially since it will be here a day early.

I got my incredible at my door on Wednesday (21st) and activated on Friday. This is my first droid device, switching from a BB. So far, so good. It will take a little time to get used to it though..
