Got my Incredible today. I'm a huge HTC Fan and use a Touch Pro2 for business since it came out on ATT. I've been spoiled with the Simultaneous Voice and Data, nice battery life, and very good coverage in the US and abroad.
With my Incredible, which may unfortunately end up returned to Verizon, the following issues are too great to ignore.
- Constantly low fluctuating signal - mostly lingers at 2 bars, dips to no bars from time to time, Verizon support says that different phones report signal strength differently, but the proof is in the call quality, and the 3G icon switching to 1X too frequently. The most the phone has ever gotten all day is 3 bars of signal strength. My girlfriend has a regular verizon flip-phone and has terrific signal and call quality each time. From what I can tell, it's either hardware related, or hopefully, firmware related (which Verizon can fix via an update to all Incredible devices).
- Not all calls are successfully received - If I'm using data, there's a 50/50 chance that the call will actually make it through to interrupt the data stream. Otherwise the caller will think my phone is ringing, and I have no indication of a missed call. This is unreliable if I'm conducting business and can't afford to miss a call because of a data-download being conducted by a background app like the periodic updates to the weather widget.
- Simultaneous voice and data - When I'm driving while using Google maps as a GPS, I'd like to be able to simultaneously conduct a call on speakerphone or bluetooth . I've done this numerous times with my ATT Tilt2 (HTC Touch Pro2) but in general with Verizon, this has never been possible, and makes the Incredible less appealing when contrasted with the "multi-tasking" hoopla. ...Or speaking on the phone with friends, while coordinating a night out at a restaurant, movies, etc.. I'd like to be able to look up the information in real-time, on my phone, book reservations, order tickets etc. Anything less seems primitive for a $500+ device with a $60+ monthly plan.
- Battery life - Certainly there's a trade-off between processing power and power consumption. HTC could have spec'd out a larger battery. For such a useful and powerful device, it would only make sense to give it a comparable battery life to that of it's Cousins.
This phone would have been much better received on a GSM network. Sorry, Verizon.
