Hahaha, i posted like 3 essays comparing the two phones.

Im gonna go with whichever phone comes out first now. I have grown a hatred for waiting now and getting no announcements or confirmed news makes everything worse.

-8MP vs 5MP, doesn't really matter, cameras on the phones still aren't as good as having a separate digital camera. They are getting close though i will give them that. Especially if you have a decent digital camera, you might as well use what you paid good money for.

-Dual-mic, matters even less. Im pretty sure none of us have paid attention to this in the past years anyway. Calls will still sound fine, unless your packed with a thousand people all on top of each other.

- Vanilla 2.1 vs sense on top of 2.1. This one goes either way, i honestly havn't seen anything amazing on sense 2.1 over stock. You get 7 homepages, minor GUI tweaks and thats about it. Like 1 live wallpaper exclusive to sense. It's honestly really similar to stock 2.1. Especially with live wallpapers, they both look virtually the same. Also, the Nexus One will get updates fasters, its vanilla, and its google's phone. It's going to be the first to get updates. Phones with overlays like Sense will take longer to tweak and make compatible etc...Sense UI made a lot more of a deciding factor in android builds before 2.1 like 1.6 etc...I would have waited for only Sense UI back in the 1.6 build days, but now there is 2.1 and they look pretty much the same with live wallpapers.

-Nexus One sold through google only? This one is personal opinion. Im starting a new contract with VZW so it doesn't really affect me. May be different for most of you guys.

I havent been following the N1 for a while, but a quick search i did on google showed that even the att N1's are getting the cracked screens. Are you willing to dish out $250 everytime your screen cracks, cuz it seems like HTC and GOOGLE are being a hassle to accept those under warranty

That's odd. Good....but odd. I've talked to a couple different reps and they've both told me the same thing, that if you only return one, it's like you didn't take the BOGO deal, but you've definitely seemed to have lucked out. I'd just take it how they've given it to you for now, and then if they try to pull someting funny later, say you never would've kept the one droid if it meant you wouldn't be allowed to get it under the BOGO deal.
+1

That should not have happened. The thing is, I think some VZW reps are a bit careless in the system. For example, I got a Droid Eris 20 odd days ago. My conract is still said to expire in 4 months. And, even though I used my sister's upgrade off a shared family plan (an 8 year old does not need anything more than a simple phone for being dropped off at sport practices, and my mother agreed), her contract is still up for renewal. The rep apparently just sold me a phone at the new price, with no actual renewal. It happens, and when it does, be happy.

OK. So I have taken the time to read almost every post on this forum. I have even plugged a couple of my own. But I am in need of some direction. Because there are somethings that I think I am just a little off base on. First where is the moviNand ram confirmed? Second if the moviNand is really 6.6Gb of space what would be the other purpose if not to put programs on? I mean the Micro SD would hold just about anything else the phone would need to store. So then whats the point? This aside, can someone please estimate for me (On average) how many programs can be installed onto a typical HTC device such as the Droid per say. Please don't return with well that depends. I don't need a specific. Just general. The last thing I am curious about is I was in a magazine shop. I picked up a MaximumPC mag. Low and behold the current issues is about GOOGLE! To top that off there is a article in there about the Nexus One. One of the cons listed was the app market. Now I am a BlackBerry user and I for the life of me could not wrap my head around how the Android Market could be any less then awesome in comparison. Please Android users....Tell me is there something I am missing?

Like everything about this phone, it is not confirmed so much as verified beyond a reasonable doubt. As for the app numbers, it really does depend, even if you do not like that answer. Appls go from 40Kb to 2Mb. I would take 800kb as the averge size (may be a bit off), and then go from there. 6.6x10^6 kb / 800kb/app ~=.83 x10^4 apps, which is about 8,300 apps. That is off the top of my head, so it may be off.

So...I go into my local VZ corporate store today and browse at their available phones. I also am up for my NE2 and thought I would take another look at the Droid. After messing around with it for 5 minutes or so I decided to look at the other smart phones as well. HTC Touch 2, Palm, Omnia, Eris...none of them have what I want which is the complete package of the Incredible. Before I leave the store I open the web browser on 4 of these phones and google the HTC EVO. As I walk out of the store each of these phones is displaying the EVO as large on the screens as I could get them. I know, childish, but I hope other shopers see the EVO and ask the sales people "Hey!...Can I get a phone like this here?" I think i'm locked onto holding out for the Incredible. :)

zthis is probably very out dated by now, but forgive me while I get caught back up.

So, maybe childish, but I think you could be onto something. I say we start a rebellion and all of us go out to our Verizon stores and do this. Think about how al the Verizon reps will be talking about it back to corp. Corp just might start feeling some of the pressure to appease the fans and drop us a nugget. Nicely done Fandroid :)

Also, was thinking about a little strategy we could try (possible ethical grey area)... what about walking into a Verizon store and just idly browsing the wares, until a rep comes up to assist you. When they ask "may I answer any questions", mention that the rep from the other Verizon store told you about the Inc a few days ago and that you were just checking in to see if it was in stock yet. If they claim ignorance, just say "fine, I'll just stick with the other store, even if it is a longer drive" or something creative.

Yeah, I know you may be frowning on this tactic, but All is fair in love and war, right? After 350 pages of this, I believe this is a love/war relationship with this phone and Verizon.

I really hope the incredible has a dual-mic cuz my daily driver is an old Fox Mustang :p with loud exhaust and everyone always asks why do you sound like a robot lol..oh well if it doesn't no biggie still take it over the N1 for two reasons no multi-touch issues and the it's got a huge advantage with the extra onboard storage.

Just a thought.... maybe Verizon had the general idea specs and looks for the Incred... then wanted to see what final specs the Evo would be and the look of the phone as well. Then adjust and makes changes to the incredible to make it better or up to par to the Evo. Then try to release it before or around the Evo release.

Thoughts?

The only thing that I see that the EVO has the upper hand in is Screen Size. People might say that the 4G is an upper hand. But I am going to raise the flag on that. Because if you can find Sprints 3g I would be impressed. But I doubt in your lifetime your going to find a place on this earth where you will enjoy the fullness of there 4G. So why copy that peace of crap? At least the Incred is boasting built in memory. Does EVO have that? I think not. ;)

Not likely, for a few reasons. First, the development of both of these phones have been in the works for a very long time. The design, build, physical specs, etc. of both phones are all centered around the hardware and to change any of it at this stage in the game would cause more problems than it would solve. Even if they wanted to compete with the EVO (which, with the Incredible's confirmed specs, they shouldn't have a problem doing anyway) the way you have described, changing the phone to match EVO's specs would push their release date well beyond summer at this point - it would basically take a complete redesign of the phone.

Second, Verizon has a long history of being very tight-lipped about upcoming releases. They will test the fool out of a phone to make sure it works well (most of the time [see Blackberry Storm]). The fact that they have not released or announced yet probably has more to do with the phone being in the last stages of development than anything else. Sprint on the other hand, needs to pull itself out of a rut and an early announcement of a awesome pfone coming in the summer is a great way to do it.

Third, both phones are made by HTC, so I don't think we need to worry about the phones being able to compete with one another. HTC has worked in conjunction with Sprint and Verizon to make sure that the phones both companies release will be competitive. All parties involved have been in the game for long enough to know what makes for a good phone. HTC benefits from making the Incredible as competitive with the EVO as possible because competition is what drives growth. In the end, it makes them more money to have two competitive phones as opposed to one.

Fourth, they would have to refile with the FCC because of those changes. We haven't seen anything come through from HTC resembling what could be an altered Incredible. The Shadow will be the competitor to the EVO. Both will be LTE/WiMax enabled (maybe), both will have a large screen and both will be a flagship device for their respective carrier.

Hope this isn't off topic, but for those concerned about the dual mic issue, just get a bluetooth headset that has noise cancellation. I have a jawbone icon, and it works great!

Shadow won't be LTE.

And like like a dork with it in your ear. I could see using it in the car, but not walking around. Might as well order a hip holster too just to make sure the opposite sex stays as far away as possible ;)

Sprint isn't that bad. Okay coverage isn't as good as VZW or even AT&T but sprint is allowed to roam on VZW towers for free from what i understand giving it the same coverage basically. You just can't have more than half your minutes on roaming or else they charge you.

4G may not play a big enough role right now, but its in a decent amount of cities. It's also coming to a lot more cities according to the feb. announcement and the march announcement. They should be deployed by the time the EVO comes out making 4G a very major factor.

As long as you don't live in like some random empty place in the U.S. you should be fine. Well maybe i should say that as long as you live near a major city your fine. New york here and i basically get all 4 carriers.

Completely agree with your observations. This is the most credible scenario IMHO.

I think it would be funnier if you go into a Verizon store and leave an image of the Incredible on all the screens, instead of the Evo. Or bring up the image from here, and when a sales rep comes up and asks if they can help you, say 'yeah, i want this phone pictured right here'. :D

The fullness of 4g?

Maybe you ought to do a little research into the near future. This is the next step.

Built in memory?

Cmon..............

Screen size?

Tell me what you use to interact with the phone exactly?

Not everyone wants a huge screen. I wouldn't mind it but it isn't that much bigger. I think the built in memory is a better feature since that seems the biggest limitation with Android devices at the moment. More on board storage means more installable apps. Better option in my opinion.

Furthermore, Sprints 4g probably won't be all it's cracked up to be. IIRC @ CTIA they basically confirmed that LTE is a better technology in their own keynote. They said that WiMAX may be moving toward support LTE so ... you do the math.

It all comes down to preference in the end. Different people like different things and it is all subjective. bottom line.

Once again it all comes down to difference in business plan. Verizon gets its customers with a reliable network and gets decent reliable phones for its network. It spends its money on the network. Sprints business plan with the Evo seems to be first to 4g but a limited network. Verizon has gotten some better phones recently because thats what the customer wants but still has a main focus on keeping the reputation as the most reliable network.
