if i had to guess that back looks pretty official. i dont think they wouldve bothered to brand it up like that and put the android logos there if it was temporary. either way i dont care what the back looks like, personally i dont think its all that bad. if i do however happen to buy it and start hating the back, ill just put a phone cover on and bingo, problem solved.

hopefully shortly after this convention maybe something else will get leaked about this incredible or even better yet verizon will send us something our way.

@montana man - where did u get that? is that just speculative info youve found somewhere?

I asked my friend that works at the cell department at best buy if shes heard of the Incredible/Bravo/Passion. And this is what she said...

yes ma'am i've heard of it. its also referred to as the htc dragon. specs aren't released yet, but it's suppose to be 1ghz processor, which is awesome. uh, it will require the $30 data plan, just as any android, blackberry or windows mobile device would. it'll have the 2.1 android just like the motorola droid.

Thoughts?

sorry but that offered nothing new. those are all old news from all the forums.

I'm not saying this to be mean and I don't say it to even try to SOUND mean, but there's really no other way to say this... Your friend knows about as much as we all knew back in November. A LOT has changed since then, and I do mean A LOT. So, the information your friend has came from the same place our's came from, the internet forums and tech sites. However, your friend hasn't been keeping up with the latest rumors, and now, pictures/specs that are beginning to trickle out.

The Dragon is going to China first, as was just released today.
HTC Dragon and friends turn up on Dopod roadmap -- Engadget

The codename "Passion" was the codename for the Nexus One, which already exists now. The Bravo is a phone that is currently set to release in the UK/Europe and may possibly come to the U.S. later on.

For you, the Incredible is your best bet. Next time, if you want some answers on phones, just come ask us. ;) Not to sound full of ourselves, but we honestly probably know more about this stuff than people who work at Verizon, even people in management positions at Verizon. How do I know this? Because I have a good friend who is a manager at a Verizon tech support division in Ohio, and she NEVER knows as much about this stuff as I do and she deals with it on a day-to-day basis. I informed her about the HTC Incredible yesterday. She had no clue, and she's in management.

Anyways, hope that answered some questions for you, and it's good to have you in here contributing.

I've been lurking around for a couple days. I was researching on the internet for an android phone. And you guys are the most informative. So its ok to get a big head hehe. So I had an idea but all the codenames can make it pretty confusing. I just hope they end up releasing the Bravo to the U.S. eventually. Thought i'd pee my pants when I first saw it. But I'm prob gonna end up going with the Incredible. :)
thanks for taking it easy on a newbie lol

No problem at all. We're all pretty nice in here, especially in the new Incredible forum. I haven't seen a rotten member in this new thread yet, and I'm quite happy about that. Feel free to ask questions if you have any. But yeah, as far as what a Verizon customer needs to know, this thread sums it up pretty much. You're actually lucky, we have been waiting for months for news of this phone and now that we finally get information, you show up. haha We did all of the waiting for you, but now we have pictures and it's confirmed through those pictures with the Verizon boot screen. So, now we are all just hoping it releases soon. Most of us have been waiting here since November. I was just an outsider looking in throughout November, but I finally couldn't resist and signed up and have honestly had a BLAST in this forum. I've made a lot of good friends, believe it or not. People who I wouldn't mind meeting in person someday and having a beer with. This is a good place. People who love Android are a special breed, and I don't even have an Android device yet and I already know that. So...yeah...good to have you here.

Okay, I have to preface this post by saying I hope I'm wrong- yesterday is not soon enough for me to get the full specs, and dare I say *gulp* the release of the Incredible for sale on VZW.

That said, many people on this forum seem to be pointing to MWC as the likely introduction of Incredible to the public. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't MWC mainly for GSM/Europe? A scan of exhibitors on the official MWC web page shows only HTC Europe and nothing from VZW.

Below is a screen grab from an exhibitor search using "HTC"

On the other hand, as I understand it, CTIA is more for CDMA/USA, and the official web page for CTIA 2010 lists both HTC America and Verizon Wireless as exhibitors.

http://www.ctiawireless.com/exhibit/exhibitor_list.cfm#H (HTC America)

http://www.ctiawireless.com/exhibit/exhibitor_list.cfm#V (VZW)

That being the case, isn't it more likely that if HTC/VZW are waiting for one of these tech shows to introduce Incredible, that it's CTIA and not MWC?

Now, I have absolutely NO inside information, and am certainly not saying that HTC/VZW have to wait for a trade show to introduce Incredible, but it seems to me that news regarding Incredible being part of HTC's MWC Press Event is highly unlikely.

Again, I hope and pray that I am wrong, but I have a feeling that MWC will come and go without anything "official" pertaining to Incredible.

Unfortunately, I think you hit it on the nose. I do think, though, we'll see more leaked info between MWC and CTIA, but CTIA would be the launch point for any announcement about a US phone. I'm now guessing with CTIA being Mar 23-25, this is the foundation for the rumor about Mar 23 being the availability date for the Verizon Nexus One. Perhaps they figure much like Google used CES to launch the Nexus One on T-Mobile and then make it available for convention attendees, they'll do the same here at CTIA with the CDMA version. That being said, I'm not sure how the Incredible fits in because it seems like a competing device and you'd either announce/launch it before or after the Nexus One, not at the same time. Verizon definitely doesn't tend to launch competing devices simultaneously.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. If that's just a prototype, this thing isn't even close to being ready. It would be after April, and I just don't see that happening personally. I could be wrong though. But yeah, I think that's the final design personally. That same back plate, same look, same shape, same kinda glossy metalic paint look, but in black...well...that would be HOT, I think. If this thing comes with different back plates, dang...that would seriously be really sweet. Imagine if they came in pink. Girls would really go for that. Your favorite sports team color, etc. It really is a good idea. And for we nerds who don't watch sports, haha, we could just get a flat black one or something. If there are tons of options, eventually or maybe even a few options at launch, for this phone's back plate, that would be a big selling point for this phone, I think. But that's just my opinion of course. Personally, slap on a black back and I'd be set.

I think customization is what's going to drive sales volume. They can generate another revenue stream by selling customized skins or backplates.

As long as it's light, the UI is responsive and the network is solid, I can handle red if that's all they're offering.

Acually, the red may make it easier to find. Cell phone and wallet are always being misplaced/tossed around the house, which drives the wife nuts. No way am I going to get a red wallet, however. ;)

my thoughts are that i have never met a Bestbuy or in-store verizon employee who knew anything about anything.

Thats a great idea. They could release a colts version, it'll be royal blue and white, and it'll drop every important phone call.

True. There is an article I posted back here:

http://androidforums.com/330613-post60.html

that mentions the same thing.

Another month or so isn't long for me considering I've been waiting since November. It's not just the waiting but being able to resist buying the Droid(especially with all the new updates), which is really a pretty solid phone though definitely not as sleek as the Incredible will be.

I actually like the red back. But, I always like unique things. I actually liked the original Touch Diamond back. :D

The original HTC Buzz leak showed customizable backs:

And HTC is all about "YOU" and "Make it Mine" now

So maybe they will do they same with the Incredible.

Hey guys, nothing new to add just wanted to commend everyone for a great thread so far, great posts and commentary, great analysis, and most importantly, i haven't seen any jacka$$'s.

Please keep up the great work and lets make this thread the one stop shop for all us future Incredible owners! :)

Not trying to be that person, but I have to disagree.

I think that would be a great idea, and a hit for that matter, on a LG texting phone, but not a high end, power user, 1GHz, Android phone. I hope this is the case, and by the looks of it, I bet seido will make some.

That being my home team, it did hurt. :p But sure enough, I don't think we'll be seeing Hank Baskett next year. Okay, onwards.

Damn, that CTIA 2010 point is starting to make sense. Good god, its just one thing after another. First its Thanksgiving, then Black friday, then xmas, then CES, then WMC, then CTIA. When will it end!!!

Hello everyone. A new forum member here that's been reading much on this topic with great interest.

Some brief history about me - I started looking into getting a smartphone a few months ago and in doing research on what to get a stumbled across this forum. At first I was looking at getting a blackberry, and then started hearing about Android phones, first looking at the Droid then the Eris. That's when I started hearing about the N1 and now the Incredible. At this time I'm leaning towards getting a N1 or Incredible - guess it'll depend on timing and cost.

One thing I noticed while looking to buy a phone is that there usually is a price drop on existing models right before a new phone comes out. I saw that happen with the BB Storm before the Storm2 came out (I think that was a $100 drop), and I just recently saw a price with the Eris in the past couple of weeks (dropped from $99 to $79 on VZW's web site).

Does anyone else think this price drop in the Eris (along with the free 2nd Eris phone promotion) might be an indication that there might be new phone models coming out soon? After the Storm price drop I think it was only a matter of 3-4 weeks before the Storm2 showed up.

I've enjoyed reading the many topics in this forum and it has helped me become much more educated in deciding on my new smartphone.

What we do know is that T-Mobile is releasing the HD2 at the end of March....so that makes me think that Verizon will unload this bad boy at the same time. Because if they don't, people like me will jump ship to T-Mobile because they are tired of waiting.

That's my 2 cents.

That's a good point and everything i've seen so far seems to indicate that ~ March 21 is likely when it will drop. Lines up with CTIA, "spring", other carrier's releases, etc...

No offense, but what other carriers were doing in the Fall didn't seem to make a damn bit of difference to Verizon. I don't think they care too much. T-Mobile and Sprint had the TP2 out before Verizon. Sprint not only had the Hero out a month before Verizon, but they made an official announcement a month before that. Verizon doesn't seem to make moves on releases or announcements to curb any losses. I think they assume "the network" walks the walk.

Tired of waiting for what? A Winmo 6.5 phone with Sense? You can't get that with the Imagio? if you like the HD2 why are you in the Android forums?

Only time will tell. Do you have a prediction?

Not really. Verizon is unpredictable, but I wouldn't put April out of the question for the Incredible. It's either early March or mid-April (or later) assuming the Nexus One is indeed slated for Mar 23rd because Verizon doesn't really overlap releases that are in the same segment (high end Android, in this case). The issue here to remember is that the typical time from FCC approval to release for Verizon is about a month or longer. The fastest I've seen in the past year was 14 days for the Tour. The bottom line is that when Friday arrives with no FCC approval of an HTC phone, count off 4 weeks on the calendar. That's your earliest likely date for a phone release. Sorry to be a downer.
