***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

So I just read through this entire thread from beginning to end. The one question that has yet to be brought up yet, is whether or not the Sense UI is even necessary. Now that Android is making mulit-touch (pinch & zoom) available in the 2.1 update are the Bravos Incredibles and Legends that constantly float around the rumor mill arguably any better then the Nexus One? Cus from what I can see, if the 256 Ram in the Incredible is true, how could that be considered better then the N1? Before, when weighing out the quality of an android phone, Sense UI may have been a more important consideration then the internal guts of the phone itself because it afforded you the option to have that all so important pinch/zooming ability, but that's just not the case anymore. If the N1 has twice as much Ram, theres no question which phone you should spring for. Right? Not to mention the fact that updates clearly come out faster and more constantly to the google branded phones.

I agree completely. Yes, the back is ugly, and might be forever (I hope not), but a case will cover it. I just hope that it changes to something like soft touch.

Anyway, believe it or not, VZW has people that know what they are doing. We just don't know that because we talk to the ones that couldn't even name the version of Android that the Droid is on. They know that we, the nerds, want that extra RAM, and they probably, for selling sakes, give it to us.

The Bravo/Passion is def looking like the winner for me. But my new every two is up march 9th and who knows if the Bravo/Passion whatever one you wanna call it will come out if ever in the U.S. Sure is SEXY though!
So looks like it will be Incredible. The Nexus one just doesnt spark my interest. Esp since overseas people that already have it seem to be having tons of problems already. Plus the bad customer service at google.
I asked my friend that works cell at best buy if shes heard of the b/p we'll See What she says ;)

Google is training support teams, 3G issues are being fixed, it look awesome: Nexus One

On another note, did anyone notice how responsive the capacitive buttons were on the Incredible? Give me a removable back plate, and I'm set!

Even just the looks of the nexus doesnt impress me much.
It does looks superfast huh! The backplate is a tad strange. Nothing a cover can cover up :)

When watching the video, did any once notice the zippy scrolling?! Also, on the backplate you see the little android guy.

I did notice the Android guy that is also on the N1. But, i also noticed some glitchyness when he was scrolling. Like some horizontal pixel glitch when he tapped and tried to drag from the bottom of the screen.

ya know, maybe HTC just has a sense of humor and the red case is just a pre-production joke. :)

i think i'l' consider the N1 a little more seriously than i was planning to now... but who knows.

"I got a great idea, lets make the back of the phone RED!" Good one.

I like your thinking lol

Something about that back says "preproduction mold" to me. The plastic looks too glossy and hard. I know that's a lot to infer from one picture, but I'm pretty confident it'll be different in production.

It's interesting with MWC coming and this phone pops up. If they were going to show it then, wouldn't there be verizon branding?

Remember when the Droid was being leaked and people disliked the gold accents and the weird pointless keys on the keyboard?

Did Moto change the appearance to please the rants and disgust?
Nope.

Will HTC be different? I dont think so...because look at the back of the leaked HTC Legend: HTC Legend spotted just hanging out, playing it cool -- Engadget

Why would they make the back of the Legend so 'normal' and give the Incredible such a crazy backplate? Either:
a) they are hiding something
b) it is final

I think the best we will see is a change in color and/or texture...not mold...if they change it at all....and obviously this is a model that will prob be showcased at MWC...why would they showcase something that is incomplete?

Operator error.

I mean you saw how well the guy could run a video camera!

Also, for those comparing it to the Legend - the Legend has that big, angled chin which the Incredible does not. They are definitely not the same form factor. Not to mention the big difference in screen size.

Good points. +1

I think that this will be the final look also. If it were preproduction they wouldn't have bothered to stamp it with INCREDIBLE and HTC. Although that look isn't really HTC's style.

Who knows it could be very possible that this will release alongside the Devour. They may be doing a reverse of the marketing scheme they used with the DROID. This is probably more wishful thinking than anything else...but it kind of makes sense. The Devour is the DROID with less power and most likely going to be at a better price point. Maybe the Incredible will be the more powerful Eris at a higher price point? That way they get their customers that were waiting for a new Android device and a full keyboard while appealing to the crowd that wants a new Android device thats actually worth it.

For better or worse you better hope that is the production form factor we've seen or it will be another 4 months before it comes out.

Yep, exactly my thoughts. If that's just a prototype, this thing isn't even close to being ready. It would be after April, and I just don't see that happening personally. I could be wrong though. But yeah, I think that's the final design personally. That same back plate, same look, same shape, same kinda glossy metalic paint look, but in black...well...that would be HOT, I think. If this thing comes with different back plates, dang...that would seriously be really sweet. Imagine if they came in pink. Girls would really go for that. Your favorite sports team color, etc. It really is a good idea. And for we nerds who don't watch sports, haha, we could just get a flat black one or something. If there are tons of options, eventually or maybe even a few options at launch, for this phone's back plate, that would be a big selling point for this phone, I think. But that's just my opinion of course. Personally, slap on a black back and I'd be set.

Okay, I have to preface this post by saying I hope I'm wrong- yesterday is not soon enough for me to get the full specs, and dare I say *gulp* the release of the Incredible for sale on VZW.

That said, many people on this forum seem to be pointing to MWC as the likely introduction of Incredible to the public. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't MWC mainly for GSM/Europe? A scan of exhibitors on the official MWC web page shows only HTC Europe and nothing from VZW.

Below is a screen grab from an exhibitor search using "HTC"

HTC Europe Co Ltd
Stand Z4.1, Stand 1D34

On the other hand, as I understand it, CTIA is more for CDMA/USA, and the official web page for CTIA 2010 lists both HTC America and Verizon Wireless as exhibitors.

http://www.ctiawireless.com/exhibit/exhibitor_list.cfm#H (HTC America)

http://www.ctiawireless.com/exhibit/exhibitor_list.cfm#V (VZW)

That being the case, isn't it more likely that if HTC/VZW are waiting for one of these tech shows to introduce Incredible, that it's CTIA and not MWC?

Now, I have absolutely NO inside information, and am certainly not saying that HTC/VZW have to wait for a trade show to introduce Incredible, but it seems to me that news regarding Incredible being part of HTC's MWC Press Event is highly unlikely.

Again, I hope and pray that I am wrong, but I have a feeling that MWC will come and go without anything "official" pertaining to Incredible.

I see your point. but i raise you:

-Incredible pics leaked (without verizon branding-to show off HTC's product only)
-Legend pics leaked
-Bravo pics leaked

Could just be to show HTC's upcoming lineup. just hoping.

Man I hope you're right, cdmta! I see your point as well- all things considered, all of these things together seem like more than coincidence.

Unfortunately, my gut tells me that we are going to see HTC Phones from the leaked European Roadmap and not much more out of MWC.

The good news is that my gut's been wrong plenty of times before (see the big game yesterday). Hopefully it's wrong this time too. Been waiting for this phone since November. Time will seem stopped if I have to wait 2 more months- this Storm is KILLING me!
