Not only people on NE2, but anyone on a family plan cannot upgrade to at a discounted price from what I understand.

Right. Maybe they put all those restrictions in place to limit the sales intentionally at first since they needed to beta test their store. Now that they have things ironed out? Hopefully, they will change those terms.

Actually if there was an another motive for the sales restriction it most likely was to draw new customers to Tmobile who needs them. At least thats what Verizon folks should hope for as Verizon has enough subscribers to loosen the restrictions a bit.

Yup. i posted this in the N1vsIncredible thread. as much as i want to believe verizon will release the incredible beforehand to take as many sales from the n1 as possible, i don't think its going to happen. obviously, it'd be logical for verizon to do so, but like you said, they tend to make some illogical decisions sometimes.

Guys, the N1 is pure GRAVY for Verizon. They dont have any overhead costs for the advertising, or bulk purchases of devices. They dont have to pay a single DIME for the N1, yet they get a new subscriber on every single one. And if they get it subsidized through Google, the net gross is still significantly higher than selling a phone they already had to pay for at a high discount.

Every unlocked N1 with CDMA tech that is sold is essentially locked to Verizon anyway, so Verizon pays nothing for the handset, pays nothing for advertising, and gets $100/mo from that person for the life of the N1.

Make mine an INCREDIBLE; I am on a family plan. I have no intention of paying full price for an N1. By the way with all this talk of the Incredible being very similar to the Supersonic, what do you think the chances are that we could see a 4.3 screen on the Incredible?

If you look at the amount of the device the screen has to take up on the HD2 for the 4.3 inch screen, there is now way there is as much space on the sides of the screen in the video to make it 4.3.

3.7 AMOLED is my guess.

Thanks. 3.7 works for me. 4.3 would be sweet though.

Verizon Does allow you to merge an individual line into a family plan. Im hoping they will allow this with the N1, I dont see why they wouldnt. If the N1 comes out first, I will buy it subsidized, then merge my line into a family plan... Hope they allow it. If not I wait for something incredible.

Thanks for the correction, yeah, I posted the wrong link somehow. Fixed it in my original post.

I think this may factor into at least Verizon's plan of action in announcing the Incredible. The short term confidentiality on pics and user manual for the VZW N1 is April 30th. It will be interesting to see how VZW goes about announcing the N1 and Incredible and how much control they have over delaying the N1 launch until after the Incredible.

Hey wonderbread, sorry I'm a little late to the party with this one- I had an unexpected work issue that dared to take me away from this forum for hours!

Anyway, No problem ;)

off topic for a second. should I wait for the Incredible or by the moto droid? my wife and I need phones pretty bad but if this phone going to come out in like 3 weeks or so then should I wait?

i say wait for the incredible. A lt more futureproof and better handset overall by far IMO

Play with the keyboard on the Moto Droid in the store, if you like it and WANT a keyboard go with it. If it doesnt do it for you, wait it out.

Play with the Eris as well and determine if you like that interface better. The Eris is running Sense UI which will be on the Incredible. Just another thing to take into account.

But hes either getting one of the phones or waiting..........don't get the Eris, it is underpowered and due to recent information. It may not even support Flash 10.1 due to lack of hardware. So far, only ARMv7 chips will be powerful enough to run 10.1, basically the processor in the Droid, Pre, Iphone 3g, and Snapdragon processors will be able to run it.

Wait for the HTC Incredible. Snapdragon, HTC Sense, 5+MP, 720P are well worth it, along with DivX etc...and the possibility of 512mb ram or more considering HTC devices get that extra amount of ram from the processor

I'm sorry if my post was unclear. I was not implying to buy the Eris, I was just trying to indicate that you should play with it in a VZW store. That has Sense UI and you can see if it's something that you would prefer. If I were in your position I would try it out as well as the Droid and pick one. If you like the Droid better then buy it. If you like the Eris better then wait for the Incredible. That was my point. I apologize again if I spoke improperly (I'm a touch hammered).

Go USA Hockey. Go Incredible haha

Stay STRONG, pal!! Avoid the temptation!! We've been through this storm as a team! We've got some amazingly good leads now and it won't be long until our Incredible phone is in our hands! Don't jump ship yet!!! :)

I don't mean to be a douche, but who are you referring to? I know I for one am standing strong on this. I won't purchase anything aside from the Incredible or N1.

Same here, won't get anything but the Incredible or Nexus One.......if i get peer pressured, ill pick up a Tour 2 when it comes out lol, but very unlikely. I would only get a Blackberry for BBM which like almost everyone i know has.

I have Tour 1 right now and it's solid but it's laggy a lot when you start running multiple programs. I love BBM and I wish RIM would make a BBM app for iPhone and Android. I would pay 10-15 dollars for that app just to talk to friends on BB's on other networks. The client is great to save friends money. but Don't buy a tour 2, you're throwing money down the drain.

Yea, was never really gonna buy it haha.....I would kill for BBM on android or something. SOMEONE PORT IT OVER =D!!!!

heres an idea. what if my wife and I got the droid for right now lets say monday or tuesday and where we have 30 days to decide on what we want to do. wait for the incredible to come out then pay the diff. that would be the thed0000d way of doing it. thoughts

anyways so the incredible might be pushing out more ram/rom when it comes out? i sure hope so

end of march? Yup, that's about right...right after my 30 days. oh well, no regrets.

Someone asked a couple pages back (that's like, 2 hours or so) about sense vs. stock. I got the Droid, my wife got the Eris. counter to what I expected, I prefer my droid experience to the Eris. I use the QWERTY here and there, even the D-pad. And when it gets too bad for the apps I want, then I'll look into root & O/C. but for now, I'm happy.
