So I know the consensus is that it is indeed the Incredible that is coming to Verizon. But why were people hoping for that over the Supersonic? Is it just for the Sense UI and trackpad? If specs are the same I think I'd take the Supersonic with the 4.3" screen over a 3.7" screen any day. And for those that are curious about the difference in sizes and weights here are the overall dimension of the Nexus one (3.7") and HTC HD2 (4.3"):
Nexus One:
4.69 x 2.35 x 0.45 inches (119 x 59.8 x 11.5 mm)
4.59 oz (130 g)
HD2:
4.76 x 2.64 x 0.43 inches (121 x 67 x 11 mm)
5.54 oz (157 g)

They only real difference is the .3" in width and 1oz in weight.

Also a 4.3" screen is most likely a LCD whereas 3.7" will be AMOLED. I'd also prefer usability in sunlight over "popping colors" and wider viewing angles. Am I alone here?

I know that some of the other carriers have allowed for pre-ordering - especially for a hyped up phone. Has Verizon ever done this? Reason I am asking is if they do, is there a possibility we might get more info on the Incredible a few weeks before it is actually released?

It also may give incentive for people like myself that are deciding between the N1 and the Incredible to hold off - even if the two phones aren't released simultaneously.

It will slow it down in effect because HTC will skip some updates. For example there is no Android 2.0 with Sense, they skipped to 2.1. But you should get the important ones.

There is no way to know this from the small sample. For all we know HTC could have spent the last six months doing a better job organizing and revamping their Sense specific parts of Android so that they could better roll out updates in the future. Motorola hasn't released 2.1 yet for the for or any MotoBlur phone. It has been almost 2 months since 2.1 went public and you can bet Motorola had it before then. It looks like HTC will have Sense 2.1 out at around the same time as Motorola has stock and Blur 2.1 out.

The 1.5 to 1.6 update wasn't a huge update and it would seem HTC felt that it was better to wait on 2.1 instead of an obviously rushed 2.0.

I won't rule out the possibility that HTC will drag their feet in the future, but I won't condemn them for it yet.

I'm sure there are a lot of people that would rather have a 4.3" phone (myself included), but that doesn't seem to be in the cards for Verizon and HTC yet. Though Motorola is whispering about the Shadow in June/July which should have 4.3... if you believe the rumors.

I think as it stands right now, 3.7" is the largest available as an AMOLED screen for a phone. The 4.3" screen on the HD2 is TFT I believe. I choose AMOLED anyday.

I dont know if Verizon has done it per se. But if I remember right you could have pre-ordered the Droid (and possibly Eris) from Best Buy and BB would have taken care of the rebate so you would have paid the online price. I assume this was available for new and current Verizon subscribers.

Just thought I would throw yet another consideration into the discussion and see if anyone has an opinion. What about accessories? I'm wondering if the Incredible will have car and or home cradles available. With the great Google Nav features it would be cool to have a car cradle like the one provided for the Moto Droid. AFAIK, and I can run and check after this post, the N1 only has a home cradle available at this time. The Droid had both. Okay...anyone care to guess or comment on this topic?

I think that's a good point most people seem to forget. HTC has seeming moved to AMOLED which only seem to be available in 3.7 and 3.2 inches. Honestly the HD2's screen was very nice even if it was TFT.

Once again.......isn't the HTC Supersonic supposed to have a 4.3 inch AMOLED screen putting your facts about no AMOLED screen larger than 3.7 inch available......

I would take a Supersonic on Verizon today if it was available, but it appears that its release will be much later than the Incredible. I don't want to wait that long, so I'm sure I will be happy with the Incredible.

I would much rather have a 3.7" screen and a slightly smaller phone that may fit more comfortably into a pocket, also I consider AMOLED a preference because it uses less battery power than LCD (I'm not expert but this is what I've read about the technology).

After seeing the Sense video I think it's a nice addition to the phone, I really like all the integrated features it offers.

Cool track pad a bonus. Silly red back... it's just funny and I could care less, especially since I won't likely ever see it after I put a skin on.

Yea your alone......most of us would probably prefer AMOLED. The vivid colors and just beauty in general is astonishing. When you compare it to an LCD side by side, there's absolutely no competition. Everything looks that much more crisp also.

If you want to view it in direct sunlight, wait for the Samsung Bada with it's new Super AMOLED which greatly enhances it's viewing in direct sunlight.

I prefer AMOLED though and they have 4.3 inch AMOLED screens, where did you get the fact that AMOLED only went up to 3.7 inch?

I did a google search for "supersonis specs" and looked at the first 10 or so listings. looks like sites are split about 50/50 on whether the supersonic will have amoled. half say amoled screen, the other half specifically state it is non amoled screen. the fact is, no one really knows for sure until the official specs are released. anything beyond that is pure speculation.

Sounds familiar, as that is pretty much what we have been doing for the past few months.
Question -
With the N1 for VZW being announced for Mar 23rd, how many of us would jump on that if there is nothing about the Incredible officially announced by then. **Assuming - that we can use our NE2 on it ....

OK, this is probably a stupid, stupid question (so please bear with me) but will all my Google services still be integrated if I go with Sense UI? ie gmail, gcal, contacts, tasks, picasaweb, even google reader etc? How does that work? Will they still sort of "sync" with my phone...ie will the calendar/contacts actually be available "locally" on my phone as opposed to having to connect online every time I want to get a contact's info?

Unless I get some hands on time with the Nexus, I wll wait for the Incredibe. I want to see if the 3g issues have been worked out before I jump to the Nexus
