Verizon changed their NE2 discounts this past February to $50 for plans over a certain price and $30 for lesser plans. The $100 NE2 is long gone.

I think you get the $100 NE2 credit if you have a smartphone. I have always had the $100 credit.

I went from a Palm Treo to my current phone BB Curve and have received a $100 and I just checked and will have a $100 credit for the HTC Droid Incredible.

This has never made sense to me. When I log onto my account I don't see this kind of discount. One of my phones is eligible for the NE2 but the only thing I see is the 2year price ($299.99) and an online discount of $100 ONLY having me pay $199.99.......where can I see the NE2 discount? I always figured that the NE2 discount was the 2year contract priced in? I would love to pay only $99.99 for my new phone. Thanks!

Interesting, my phone is the primary, I'm 6 months past my NET date, but my NET discount is only $50.

Isn't the LG Dare a multimedia phone and not a smart phone? If you're not paying for an unlimited data plan I bet they'd bend over backwards to upgrade you and get you to sign onto a more expensive plan.
They currently have a promotion where featurephone users can upgrade to a smartphone early. You may want to look into that.

That's true, but those who were eligible before Feb. still get the $100. After they use it it's goes down to $50. At least that's how it was explained to me by a CSR. So I'm using mine for this phone.:D

Anybody else hoping a manufacturer makes a replacement rear plate without the ugly ridges? I'm hoping for that or a manufacturer to make a case that smooths it out - Right now, it seems they are all making stuff to form fit the design.

Mine too, I believe this has to do with how expensive your plan is. I think since I'm not a data user, I don't get bumped up into the $100 discount tier.

I think it has to do with the price of the actual phone plan and does not take into consideration any add ons like text plans or data plans.

Dont know where else to put this so I'll give this a shot in here.

I'm looking to upgrade from a ROKR to the Incredible so I currently do not have any kind of data plan. I have an old Alltel plan that doesnt compare with what Verizon offers. Is it possible to upgrade, keep my minutes and lower rate, while still adding a verizon data plan?

Adding to this, is it possible I could add a line on top of this without having to switch over fully to a verizon plan? Trying to convert my wife from getting an iPhone to getting the iNcredible.

They're just trying to keep it as streamlined as possible....I'm thinking I might want the extended back, just so the camera bump is recessed instead of protruding. That just seems like not a good thing to have sticking out like that. And the extra Battery life never hurts.

The ridges don't seem that bad tbh. I think it's much smoother than it looks. At least I think that's NKT's interpretation of it.

My actual words were,

"Alright, you got me.

My name is Lowell McAdam, President and CEO of Verizon Wireless and for the past week I have been working undercover in the covert marketing department of my company."

Clearly it was a play on the Undercover Boss TV show.

I am not, and have never worked for Verizon Wireless. I have though worked at Best Buy, but that was 10 years ago. I currently work as a web designer/developer for an international automobile auction company.

I just got lucky finding that link yesterday, but I'm sure the two people who posted after me must have been VZW plants.

I figured you were being funny.
I would not be offended at all to have some VZW plants in here giving us updates...not one bit. :D

Would that be something the community would be interested in? I make prop replicas as a hobby and something like a smooth back plate would probably not be that hard to make.

I can't input on the supply vs deman history on phones like this, however I will be calling the store the day before to verify stock, and then getting there 4-6 hours before opening just to be sure. I'll probably ride by earlier than that, then wait in my car until/unless I see others lining up outside. :)
Haha I wont be there that early, but I will be to the store a little before it opens.

I have a Dare and it shows a NE2 discount of $100

Question: What kind of bear is best?

No, but seriously...I am eligible for an upgrade. I'm on a family plan, but not the main line. Does that mean that I don't receive a NE2 discount, just that I'm eligible to upgrade my phone? If so, the thought around here is that the phone will probably be $199 after a possible rebate, correct?

"Well that depends. There are basically two schools of thought..."

"Wrong. Black bear."

If they're setting up a website for people to sign-up for announcements about a phone that's releasing in two weeks, it should be public by end of week...otherwise I don't see much point.

I'd go with that, as long as it's still about the Droid's weight / thickness. Perfect setup would be: flush / slightly recessed camera, 1750 maH or so batt., and a smooth backplate. One can only hope. (Seidio? Please?)

When they come out with those 3200 maH batteries that turn your phone into a brick, i generally laugh at the people who buy them.

Just gotta say it, you're incredible. Funny, talented and a wonderful father. Probably a great husband too, if you are married. I am, so please don't take this wrong. Just had to send you some love. One techie who loves being a Mom to another who loves being a Dad. :D

I'm wondering how I can possibly take such a sweet compliment wrong... hmmm.

(will you marry me?)
:p:p

I for one like the backplate. I know everyone says it's ugly as all get out, but it actually looks really good IMHO. Sets it apart from the smooth, rounded design of the iPhone, and looks really nice as VZW's next phone in the DROID lineup. They definitely took some design cues from Motorola. FWIW, I thought the DROID was a good looking phone also (save for the d-pad), which I know a lot of people hated. Also, given the thickness of the phone, I would be surprised if ridges on the backplate would have a huge impact on feel - they're pretty shallow. Aesthetically, they may have more of an impact, but that ultimately is a matter of opinion.

All the same, I would love to see some smoother backplates. The more people VZW can get on board, the more successful and the more of a priority the DROID Incredible will be (man, calling it that just feels weird now).

I havent followed the release of a phone before the ill-fated VZW Nexus One and the Incredible. Is this much hype, discussion, speculation common for a major phone release? Does / did the iPhone get this much chatter? I just cant believe how many posts and views this thread gets each day.
