i can see it already, verizon is gonna send out an email that says they didnt have enough incredibles and your order has been backordered and will ship when it becomes available. then people are gonna be like

Do the 1st 3 #'s indicate where the phone ships from? I'm in Richmond, VA and my order # starts with 327.

Ok, here's my story... (sorry for the repeat for those on chat)
Went to my VZW store, wore a low-cut top for the occasion, in case I needed to persuade someone to let me see the phone. Unfortunately, it was a bit$*y girl who did not seem impressed. She said they don't have the phone, it comes in the 29th, blah, blah. I asked if they had any accessories. "NO. We don't even have the PHONE!"
Ok, ok, ok. Geez.
I tried. Sorry.

I think Verizon did a poor job of handling this pre-order business on the DI... I've been with them since the beginning around 10 years ago in my area, back when my cell company was Bell Atlantic Mobile and Verizon bought them out.
This is the first pre-order instance that I can remember Verizon doing, although I think they should just call it the "pre-fail" because so many things have seemed off with all the misinformation, not knowing and such. At least it looks like a large part of the orders are going to go through a few days earlier, though!
I think they've done a great job, although the web site could have been more stable. Its hard to build an ecommerce site that maybe has 10,000 orders in a day and then have 25,000 orders in an hour (just making these numbers up)...the technology you use for one doesn't always work for the other. I'll cut them some slack on the tech side since they just don't launch online-only pre-orders for hugely popular phones very often. I'm sure they'll be better prepared next time.
Other than that, I was happy the pre-orders went on sale early. I was able to buy my accessories and have them by the time the phone ships. It looks like they are right on schedule to ship the phones as promised (and maybe, just maybe, a day or two early).
All in all, I think they did a fine job. The fact that they didn't announce the phone any earlier, and let the leaks build anticipation, is very common (a la apple) these days and made the excitement build, which was fun. Sure, the people in the stores and the csr's didn't have much info, but who cares - if you just followed their official announcements and instructions, they delivered exactly what they said they would (assuming no shipping probs!).
I'm just happy they have a really cutting edge phone with great design. All the reviews seem very good. With all the hype (and with all the iphone fanatics) I was expecting more negative reviews.

And with my my luck my Verizon store a few miles from my house will have loads of Incredible phones, but the pre-order on my account has me locked out from getting a phone in the store.

how do i check the status of my case order? I'm getting the Incredible at Best Buy... but I ordered the fade black to red case by phone on Thursday. I just want to see its status. She didn't give me an order number as it was by phone and just charged it to my account.
yea, i saw that. i was thinking maybe they sold out and wont have any until may?? but the people who pre order will have them on the 29th..
maybe they only update the status page every 24hrs or something. just a thought, but maybe they dont post the tracking number and he gave me the wrong information.

I agree with you, but you did order it, knowing that you were getting free overnight shipping. Rather they promise it by the 29th or not it is still overnight shipping. When you order something its like a contract they have to give you what you ordered for or by in this case. Im pretty sure so if someone knows different dont yell at me
So you'd be happier if they shipped overnight on the 28th (hence honoring their contract) than if they ship 2-day on the 25th or 26th ("violating" their contract)?

Pre-orders will ship when the item becomes available(straight from my confirmation email) It says nothing about the 29th!

If you PAID for overnight, that would be different. How can you say anything if it was free shipping and they get it to you before the promised date?

You're getting what you bargained for - in fact, you'll likely be getting your phone a day early.
If Verizon can pull it together to ship a day earlier to get a 2-day rate, more power to them as long as it doesn't make a difference on your end.
If they do have a substantially large bump in shipment volume, it also helps them (and FedEx) to spread the load out over a few days - the result being in the earlier orders getting their phones a day or two early so that they're caught up by 4:00 P.M. on the 28th. This way everyone who pre-orders up to that time gets theirs by the promised release date of the 29th.
