Official "I JUST ORDERED THE NEXUS 5!!!" Thread

Agreed... My haste to order so quickly led me to be part if the November 8th group instead of the 5th since I had to cancel and do it again a few hours later... Sigh. I thought I would be more patient than I am.

I was set for the 8th And it has shipped so live in hope.

Quick 1080p camera test of the Nexus 5. Make sure you watch it in 1080p (you already know that). It looks pretty good I think. I've seen a little better, but this isn't bad at all. You have to take in the fact that it's a pretty sunny day which helps any camera of decent quality. It's like perfect lighting. the OIS feature seems to be alright.

This link below is a test of sample images. I personally don't think they're the best choice of pictures to take, but they're good pictures to take to test the phone's ability in different environments. I guess deep down inside I want this phone to have a really really good camera. Once you experience a phone with a great camera you appreciate it. It used to not be a big factor to me.

Overall better then the Nexus 4 in both areas. I expected it to be better but I wanted it to rival the top camera phones.. Honestly I think Google is relying on their tricks or software to come with the most decent or best picture. Google+ and the new HDR+ feature that beautify's your photos now they showed at the Google+ event. I guess it helps keep the phone down in cost. Because not a lot of phones have OIS and they take great pictures and video (with a steady hand) as is. Note 3, iPhone 5/S and S4.

Pictures, video and audio all look very good. 8 MP in general is good enough for me. If I really need something better (rare these days), then I'll use a real camera.

I finally got full tracking on all 3 devices and they have all left Louisville, Kentucky. They're somewhere in the middle of Ohio now and should be here Tuesday. Picked standard shipping over 2 day since I knew that they all ship from Louisville it doesn't make a difference due to where I'm located.

A very lengthy video (over 25 min) of the Nexus 5. Watching it now so I don't know how it is just yet. He mentions if you go to Carphone they have them in stock and don't have to wait for delivery. I don't know how many of you are close by there. So just thought I mention. Nexus 5 Hardware and Software Android 4.4 First look - YouTube

Update:

I understand this is a thread for people who have ordered their Nexus 5, and I am one of them, but please let me know if the post of video reviews are annoying or whatever. I just thought seeing it in action and possibly having a few questions answered would help the wait. Hopefully it doesn't spoil it for anybody.

Sprint users can pre-order today just in case you're thinking of that route http://t.co/yBaD842iK7

Finally tracking updated at 12 AM this morning saying it left for Philly. I only just got an update it made it to Philly about 20 minutes ago. Now I know something is definitely screwy because it doesn't take 12 hours to get from Kentucky to Philly, last two orders it only took about 3 hours lol

They have other stops. I have things ordered that are in my city and says out for delivery and it takes hours to actually hit my door. Ha-ha. I love your excitement man.

Anyways, I'm not sure if it was in this thread or another Nexus 5 thread but someone asked how much memory would be taken up. It's 3+ to 4 gigs at least that will be used from your storage. In the video above the guy has 12+ from 16.

Sweeet not bad at all, plenty for me!! lol

The Auto Awesome feature Google was stressing at the Google+ event shown on the Nexus 5 AutoAwesome Videos with Google Plus on Android 4.4 - YouTube

Just in case you're outside of the US and ordered one, this might be of some help as to how to get "Okay Google" working. It's just not enabled out of the box for the Nexus 5 purchased outside of the states http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NM-BhlkfKnY

Nexus 5 does work with previous wireless charging devices http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VeE6bA7i6A

Nexus 5 new phone dialer and the way it works now, and some insight on Google Now. "Okay Google" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrt-lET8fSw (one thing he didn't mention I don't think is that if a number calls you that is not already stored as a contact in your phone, then Google will find a photo for that contact to relate it with. Assuming this only works for businesses and not a friend or casual person. That would be creepy.)

Update:

Don't dare go to Best Buy and think about getting a Nexus 5...
Google's Nexus 5 is available now for $349. Except at Best Buy, where it's $799.99.

Just placed my order this afternoon and it seems to not be shipping until the 26th of November. Hmph. Everyone better post amazing reviews in the meanwhile.

Mine said shipping November 8 but actually shipped November 1 so it may be earlier. It looks like Google stockpiled some models for the initial launch and shipments and that there's now a backlog.

Thanks man! I will remain optimistic, it would sure be a nice surprise if it shipped earlier than that. Though it would make for a good Thanksgiving.

Mine shipped from Kentucky and arrived here in Missouri this morning. Too bad it looks like it won't be out to be delivered till Monday. :( Although it still says Tuesday here. grrr

It says two to three weeks on the site, how did you get a specific date?

Mine says deliver by tuesday! not bad for an original ships tuesday :) Those pics look awesome to me. my current phone, unless myself and the subject are completely still, i can't get a shot at all.

I ordered my phone at 6:30EST (real job got in the way!). My original ordered said "Ships in 3-4 weeks." Now it is saying "ships in 2-3 weeks." My credit card has been charged and it says Pending. I'm hoping that this is a long estimate. I can't wait to get rid of my POS phone!
