Official "I JUST ORDERED THE NEXUS 5!!!" Thread

Waiting on my black 16g N5 to be delivered. Since last Fall I've had a Note 3, two LG G2s, and two Nokia 1520s (using one now). I thought I might as well experience the Snapdragon 800 in one more device b4 it becomes completely irrelevant. The N5 along with the white 1520 should keep me entertained until all the flagships come out this fall/winter. By then I might even be ready for 5.5" iPhone !!

Late to the party, but went ahead and ordered the 32GB in Bright Red from the Play Store. Should get it sometime next week. Only other color choice was white, which IMO would have shown dirt too easily.

Pretty excited about getting it.

^^^ :)

Ordered my daughter a new bright red (wow, it really is a bright, stand-out color!) one last week.

She had a bit of an "issue" (i.e., water in the form of rain) with her black one. I was able to resurrect the original one, but the screen is just a bit flaky...still works, though  :) and it'll be her backup if (when, LOL) her red one needs replacing ;) :p.

Well I'm ordering a nexus 5 next week, haven't decided on color and or memory! D: What are you guy's thoughts? I think black 16gb, how About you all? :) thanks
I ordered the Spigen ultra hybrid case (black) for it as well as 6 super HD clear screen protectors
Also does the nexus 5 have WiFi calling?( I use an LG L70 on MetroPCS and it has WiFi calling features) I hope it has it :)

I have a black 32gb version which is goof for me. I don't think I could swing 16 GB but that's just me. This phone is amazing and obviously has a great development community. I imagine we might see a ROM from you?? :D

I hate cases but ordered a spigen neo hybrid which adds minimal bulk. Still prefer to keep it naked as much as possible though. Good choice, sir. :thumb:

Thanks for the info Brian! I knew the spigen was a good idea ;) thanks, as far as a ROM goes, possibly, gotta get my hands on that beautiful device

Hangouts just added the ability to call over data, but I'm not 100% sure if that includes WiFi or not. But I believe with a Google Voice number you have always been able to do WiFi calling. You just have to set up your account info in the dialer settings.

Edit:
Yeah - https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/2811843?hl=en

I hope so :D thanks for the info, cant wait to order it next week watching reviews makes it worse hahahah

Hi Brian, Isn't that article referring to calling via a SIP? I thought that was different than VoIP calling via hangouts - for hangouts, I thought we needed to download the hangouts dialer app and use that (it does work over WiFi and also works fine over reasonably fast mobile data)

(or did I misunderstand the article?)

I know hangouts + google number works fine for calling via wifi. I've done it while in airplane mode to confirm

Hmmm. I'm not sure. I thought it said WiFi calling in the article???

Didn't this used to be a stickied thread? I know it is getting on a year, but hate to see this thread get buried in the pile. It's still a great phone to buy.:thumb: ;)

It arrived and I'm pleased with it. It came with a couple of cases, screen protectors and a wireless charger.

My GNex has been good, but is showing its age compared to newer, higher spec phones.

Just need to sort out a Micro SIM to be able to use it properly and see how the battery performs with my normal use.

Go to your carrier and get a new SIM.
