***Official "I will have my Droid X in my hands at such and such date" thread***

In for your impressions when you receive it.
If possible take some really good pictures of the phone and screen and post em! And anything else you can give us!
Would also like to know what live wallpapers will be there stock (probably the usual besides the eye).

Also, see how the text looks in the browser when you zoom in, and if it resizes it properly.
Aaaand please see how the text selection is in the browser, supposedly it is not exact like in text/email messages.

Will do, FedEx is usually a little late so I'm still waiting....

Took a quick video and did not find any video editing options. went to the camera roll and viewed the video and all i saw were option to share it. maybe missing something

also for some reason i can not download anything from the market right now, i have downloaded apps already a couple days ago but right now it is saying "download unsuccessful" when i tired to down 3-4 different apps. Will restart and see what happens.

Did the reboot fix it?

Reboot did fix the market issue, i have since downloaded Robo Defense and can verify it plays very smooth, no jump, litters or anything. also tried Jewels and again no problems.

Wifi is makeing a HUGE difference in battery. since the reboot screwed up my time up settings i can say the phone has been on since 9:00 am EST and i have used the net for the last hour straight and have made 2 short phone calls (approx 2 min each) and the battery is still at 80%.

9. Display is not very sharp with text. (Is this hardware issue or browser?) A few reviews state the Inc has sharper text- LCD should kill AMOLED for sharpness.

Actually the reviews I've seen have said the screen is very sharp. The Evo I'm returning is sharp and it uses the same LCD technology, except the Droid X is even higher resolution so I'm sure it looks better.

Thanks for the answers so far; yet another question:

Is it easy to change the background on the phone (i.e, remove the eye :) )

Thanks for all the info.
For me, selling off my Inc to get the X is a given first and foremost... hearing how the call quality, reception, and battery life is better = enough for me. I appreciate that Motorola didn't get caught up in trying to add all this flash N fluff and still honored the fact that this is a phone first. Utility. Everything else from bigger screen, still a great camera, durable, etc.. helps my opinion on this phone. Lastly, I know this phone will probably get the most support (along with the Droid 2 when it comes out) from Verizon and in the accessory front for the next 6 months of the phones on VZW. The support will most likely continue even a year or two after the phone's release no doubt (as seen with Moto Droid 1).

Well it's here, I've called Verizon and it has not been activated prior to me activating it and I'm all set. Are there any specific photos that people would like to see of the phone? It really isn't that much bigger than the Incredible, in fact I don't see why some people have been complaining about the size. On a side note Verizon was able to get me a Body Glove rubberized case sent out today and I'll have it tomorrow. I'll post a few pics in a little bit.

Here is a pic of the phone for now.

I bet the stock launcher would be a little less laggy with a static wallpaper instead of the live eye wallpaper that everyone has used when testing.

Please do Flash fans a favor:

1. Install the Flash 2.1 apk xda-developers - View Single Post - [APP] Adobe Flash 10.1 APK

2. Install Dolphine HD browser. I think you need this, since the stock browser probably will not "see" the Flash app.

Try some Flash vid and game sites out :) Sites to stay away from are Youtube (already works without Flash) and sites that are blocked by the site providers (Hulu and Dailymotion are examples that will not work with Flash mobile).

If games and vids work, X owners will have Flash to bridge until Froyo is released in late Septmber :) BTW, full Flash 10.1 using Android 2.1 equals Flash Lite function (like what is on Inc), but still better than nothing :)

If not, it may be awhile, but Skyfire at least works for some vid sites.

also, if anyone has a link to the flash apk i would be glad to try it. i did try one that i found in the droid section of this forum but it gave me an error when trying to install

Here you go:

xda-developers - View Single Post - [APP] Adobe Flash 10.1 APK

You will probably also need Dolphin HD browser in order to see Flash, but maybe not.

Try some game and vid sites out :) Just not Youtube, since works already and Hulu does not work with Flash mobile.

Thought of another one. Can you use the hdmi to stream youtube (or other content) over? What about divx/xvid (i mean just playing it)? Some people are saying it works, others not so much. Can you play divx/xvid over the hdmi? What about the dlna?

I am excited to see if this works. But wait, hulu wont work with this?!

Hulu, Dailymotion and any other site that stream current, or still-syndicated shows, do NOT allow streaming on mobile Flash devices. Hulu is supposed to release an app for Android, but it would be subscription based.

thanx for the link, i installed it fine but when i tried to run flash sites, even mflash.comit says to upgrade to flash 10.1 like it is not recognizing it being on my phone yet. and yes i am using dolphin HD.

Very nice, so are the screen, resolution and colors really nice? Anything you don't like about the way the screen looks?

Just a note about zooming in on text, I went to the nytimes website and when you double press to zoom on the text it does rearrange things to fit the screen and I don't see any problems with jagged text when zoomed in all the way. You will see it on a few letters here and there if you are really looking for it but you would have to be extremely picky to call it a problem.

I also like the camera hump on the top of the phone, it makes it much easier to grab and pull out of my pocket.

The scrolling between home screens seems to be at least as fast as my Incredible was just not quite as smooth.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but can you use the widgets that come with the stock launcher with launchers like ADW, LauncherPro, ect?
