Ahh OK. And that's fantastic that you got this. I haven't had anyone ask me about this yet. I was just bored and decided to make it the opposite of all my real hardware.

Sent from my iPhone RAZR MINN iOS 4.0.4

I checked for updates yesterday and ICS was available. I never got a notification. I installed the update and now I've noticed two changes so far:

My notification bar is dimmer and the icons are smaller, making it hard to read the temperature and my battery life. VZW had me go into safe mode and as it seemed to appear better they feel it is related to an app. I think it was hard to tell as those apps (weatherbug & green power) don't run in safe mode.

Using Swype, typing "i" by itself mid-sentence no longer automatically capitalizes.

They are suggesting I do a hard reset to try to fix the notification bar issue. Has anyone else seen this?

You're not alone. I don't think it's something that will be fixed with a factory reset. I think that's just how it is now. And I don't really care for it either. For the most part I like the upgrade, but I have noticed a few things that I don't like.

1. the notification bar makes the battery and temp harder to read.
2. Yes, swype doesn't automatically capitalize my I's anymore. Also seems like the auto correct isn't as accurate.
3. Nightstand more is also harder to read. They made the numbers smaller on the screen. I have a harder time seeing what time it is in the middle of the night.

Swype I don't have answers for I use SwiftKey. But your battery and weather app you can change the color of the icon and see it easier.

How do you get into nightstand mode? I got a free desk dock from Costco but I haven't used it yet.

That made it worse. I tried setting it back to blue and I put it right back to white. I think it's also that the notification icons seem to have shrunk.

My Mac won't recognize my Droid Razr as a phone anymore after upgrading to ICS. Tethering to internet via my Droid Razr is important to me. But after upgrading to ICS, I can't do this anymore. After plugging in my Droid Razr, the screen on droid razor has 3 options: Mass Storage; MTP or PTP. I tried all 3 of them, but PdaNet keeps saying Phone Detached. Can anyone help me out here? I really need this function when I am on the road. Thanks.

Put your phone into the dock, pull down the notification bar, then select dock type. You should have an option for nightstand.

And I agree, it's not so much the color. After the update, the text just plain got smaller, and I think dimmer too.

I really dont like this ics crap....cant turn off 4G .......everytime i swap from 4g back down to 3G i get a data connection loss which is bs because i live in a frequent swap area.....i dont care for the rom layout it sucks.....it is really buggy wtf is with that.......the keyboard is to small...... its no faster than gingerbread and battery life is the same just lost a bunch of features that i used.......grrrrrrr good job motorola and android..............time to root and install costom rom........

What is the rom layout?

The other thing that is extremely annoying is that VZ Navigator keeps starting with the car dock. I can't find any setting to stop this.

Also, on some screens Swype won't show other suggested words

hey im scrolling through all of your posts and noticed people asking about the update in canada, i can confirm it is available in canada , I got the notice on my phone i believe on the 12th. I installed it and have been getting to know it over the past couple of days. It looks pretty good and they made some improvements but they also have some issues wit ICS.

They have added new apps on the phone, and honestly I dont think I will use a single one they have added, so that means more useless crap apps on my phone, oh well thats why I just add a folder called SHIT and put em all in there! So far the biggest problem is that the widgets are messing up on the home screen, ill go to my home screen and notice that only half of the widget shows up and they arent properly layed out on the screen and if you touch them they are un responsive. I called samsung and they are working on it and they should have it resolved within a couple of days. The downside to this is it will probably require another update or upgrade meaning all of my files and folders and widgets that iv just finished laying out will disappear and need to be redone!

Download an app called FoxFi which makes your phone a hotspot and you can tether to the phone without the cable or PDAnet.

Wow... not sure what to say. The keyboard is pretty much the same size as GB and any phone with a screen this size. Buggy? That's a pretty generic term; can you be more specific about what bugs you have? I'm curious. I don't really have anything I'd call bugs. I've got some concerns, but nothing I'd call "buggy".

I think the response that it's time to get yourself a new phone might be the answer to your problems.

The other thing that is extremely annoying is that VZ Navigator keeps starting with the car dock. I can't find any setting to stop this.

Do you use VZ Navigator? If not, you can just disable the app completely. Long press on the icon in the app drawer. Drag it to the options icon that will appear at the top of the screen and select disable. It'll disappear from your app drawer and go to the bottom of your apps list in the Manage Apps screen. And with it disabled, it won't auto-start anywhere. To be honest, I don't understand why they keep putting money into that app; I can't imagine anyone would pay them to use it when Google Maps is free... and better, but maybe that's just me.

Also, on some screens Swype won't show other suggested words

I've noticed that, too. Specifically when putting in a web address. But I chalk that up to the fact that spell check isn't really useful there and it will just take exactly what you enter, figuring you know better.

The loss of auto-capitalizing the "I" is really annoying, but if you just swype the I up above the keyboard, like you'd do to capitalize any other letter, you get your capital "I" without too much fuss.

Hopefully, though, Swype will get their heads out of you know where and figure this out. I mean, in English, "I" by itself is capitalized... why in the world does it show that as the second option after a small "i"???

Also, the word suggestions give some of the most obscure words first and the common words later in the suggestion list. What are they thinking over there at Swype??

I don't think this is an ICS issue, though... it's a Swype issue.

Nope. I tweeted support and they showed me how to disable it but your way sounded a lot quicker. They had me go into settings>apps then first uninstall updates then disable the app. I tried the free version of it once and it was awful. I always use Google nav.

I found the app causing me the problems. It's when I type in K-9 mail.

It's got to be a Swype/ICS issue as this just happened after the update. I haven't checked their support forums yet but I tweeted them and got no response.

I was running the beta Swype before the update and it was by far the better choice... This Swype is antiquated and buggy as all heck. I haven't rerooted my phone yet since I installed ics, so I can't have the beta back, but once I do it'll be the first thing I do....

I don't understand why this version is even included. I'm sure it dissuades most from using it.

Who else is having issues with the ICS update and the home screen widgets? mine are constantly messing up and then i cant use them. I called samsung again today and they said they dont develop the OS and that ill need to contact google to figure something out. He said or I can send my phone in for repairs. Im like WTF , my phone was fine until i did the ICS upgrade and obviously its having issues. Has any one got any advice ? Im going to call google rite now and see whats going on.

You unintentionally posting this in the discussion thread about ICS for the Moto Droid Razr. I think you meant to post this in the Galaxy Note section.

If you haven't tried yet, do a factory reset. Oftentimes it'll clear up whatever bugs and gremlins may be causing issues with the device.

Swype's website says that the beta can be installed on top of phones that included Swype so why the need to root?

I think I downloaded SwiftKey during a Google Play sale but I didn't like it. I don't recall the reason.

I haven't tried, but last i knew you needed to freeze or delete the stock Swype in order to install the beta. I may be wrong.... Paging Kelmar......:D

Yep, one can install the Swype beta along-side the OEM that comes with ICS. During the installation process you get the option to deselect the OEM when you select the beta.

OBTW - with the beta, I still get the lower-i as the first option when swype "i" by itself. Strange!
