Well i thought my battery life was better. But after yesterday and today i am mad. I am at 10 percent after 9 hours of moderate use. I am not happy with this at all. With gingerbread i got 12 to 14.

On a RAZR or RAZR MAXX? If your doing that on a RAZR MAXX then it's broken. That should never be that low unless moderate use to you video games and camera stuff. A lot

Sent from my iPhone RAZR MINN iOS 4.0.4

On the default text messaging app, it shows a ? instead of my picture even though I have "Me" as a contact in my phone with my Facebook picture. Anyone know how to get this to work? Thanks. :)

Anyone showing high percentage for screen brightness ?

I leave auto brightness on and on GB always showed around 20-35% battery used.

Since ICS update .. showing 70-80% .. this happening to anyone ? Auto Brightness still on.

Perhaps you are looking at it wrong. The other processes are more efficient, and the screen takes the same power, but just now reflects a higher PERCENTAGE.

I do swear that I'm getting about the same battery life (50% at around bed time), and I know I'm using the phone a LOT more.

On the subject of battery life.....

After an OS update, new ROM install or factory reset (which you should be doing with either of these) the battery stats are erased. This means that it will take a few charging cycles for things to be reading normally again. The OS actually has to "learn" how the battery is used to display properly. So your battery may appear to be much worse or much better than it actually is.
I was wondering if this was the case, as after every update, the battery life seems to get a little worse for a few days, up to a week. That said, Im finding the screen at the top of the battery consumption meter, more so than it was on GB. TIme will tell Im sure.

I have had the same issue with widgets. I installed Weatherbug but no option to add widget...I thought it might be an app/ICS compatibility issue.

Weather bug widget, worked for me.

So far I'm not seeing any major changes that make me say I'm glad I went to ICS. I miss the power widget and don't care for the way it's set up now. I prefered the pc/phone connect, disconnect the way it was. Task removal is different. Does it really stop the task by swiping it off the phone or is it still running in the background somewhere? The phone doesn't run any smoother than GB did. I see no change. I see the changes mostly as a wash-some are better some I liked better in GB. But for this as a upgrade, I don't see it. I see it more as a change. It would have to vastly improve battery life, make the phone alot faster, improve the useability by alot. I don't see those things. It's like Chevy vs Ford. Had a Chevy, now it's a Ford. Guess I was hoping for more of a Chevy to Ferrari or even just a small leap up like to a Honda, lol....

Not to debate if it should be included in the software or not, but there are plenty of power control widgets out there that can be customized.

You also have to take into account learning and play time. No matter who disagrees, you are playing around with the phone a bit more as you get used to the changes. Once the newness wears off and you are more accustomed to the new OS your usage is curbed a bit and things start to settle in a bit more.

Another good point! Although in my case, Seems im not messing with it more than I did with GB.....well.......ok...a little more.

I noticed that before the upgrade I use to be able to see any photo attachments people emailed me through my Gmail account. Now I see the attachment but I have to open gallery to view the picture.
...it sucks! Aldo not having flash really blows.....

Yes, doing a factory reset is HIGHLY recommended after a os upgrade like this. Everyone should preform one before coming on here and complaining about issues. :D

I did a factory reset before upgrading to ICS. I'm not impressed with it yet either. Definitely more laggy and lower battery performance . However, I agree with & understand the possibility of the battery re learning to charge, & the effects of playing with the phone more, etc. Having said that, I'm not seeing the benefit of the update.

^Did you try turning down or off animations in Developer options?

There some default settings that I think may be causing issues for most ppl:

Global in Mobile Networks. I got a feeling its draining the battery and messing with reception. I think most if not all the phones defaulted to Global after the update.

Animations in Developer options.

I changed the network from global to 4G shortly after the update. I just changed the animation scaling back, we'll see what happens. Thanks for the info.

Funny... I've found it faster and with better battery performance.

It's not the possibility of "re learning" to charge. As OTD and countless others have stated, the OS needs to collect battery stats before reporting the condition of the battery charge properly. Common statements on a new phone or after a new flash of a rom:

Charge 3 full times, then report. That includes draining the battery as much as possible, if possible.

Call it what you want, sounds pretty similar in function. Either way, my battery life is not what it was.

EDIT-Not to mention the locking & hanging of app's. I see another factory wipe in my future.

Just a heads-up regarding adobe flash to anyone who hasn't loaded ICS yet. I upgraded last Saturday without doing a factory reset. After the update, flash worked fine (all my apps reloaded via my google account) on the stock browser. After experiencing some issues with face unlock (sometimes it would go to the regular unlock screen), I decided to do a factory reset and start over. After this, flash did not work on any browser. So, if flash is important to you, I suggest that you don't do the factory reset. But then again YMMV!

BTW, according to adobe, flash should be supported for android 4.0.x so maybe there will be an update?

Adobe says to uninstall and reinstall from the play store, so the binaries can be updated, I tested flash on stock browser, chrome, sky fire, nightly, maxthon, and dolphin hd. It works on all but chrome. Here is a test Page to see if it works for you,

So I uninstalled and installed (for the third time) and went to the link. The movie plays (although I still have issues with some sites that worked before ics). The version is 11.1.115.11, OS is Linux 3.0.8 (32 bit), browser (Safari???). The latest version of flash for Linux was 11.2.202.236. But there were only methods for windows and mac (not Linux) to get the latest version!

This probably belongs in a different thread. I only posted to give new upgraders a heads-up based on my experience. Thanks for the info though.

I think that test page is for like flash ads or something. Try a site like yahoo sports and try to look at videos.

Embedded videos in the browser are having major issues, to just not working at all.

Idk if this goes for everyone else, but I've been getting better battery life while running 4G all day rather than 3G. Maybe that's why the update forces 4G after the initial update. Had it been optimized to be more battery efficient?
