**** OFFICIAL **** ICS COMING SOON thread... Post all questions and info here!!!!

err...hmmm.

Just for the sake of completeness. Pull up the apps list. Click the Widgets tab and scroll right till you see the particular Beautiful Widget you want. Select that, and drag it where you want it on the homescreen.

When I do this, (and i've tried a couple of times) all i get is the icon for the widget on the homescreen. the app does not run..

Overall, I'm not impressed with how ICS runs on my Maxx. It seems a bit more laggy that it was on GB. And my battery life definitely is not better.

Basically this. Although I have a Razr thin so the battery is even more of an issue. Typical usage on GB I could get through 16ish hours and still have at least 20-30% left at the end of the day. Got through 12 hours of normal usage and I'm sitting at 7% (Some of that may have to do with LTE On/Off, though. I've noticed my phone doing odd things since I installed that. Going to try and find another app that will let me disable 4G). Add that to the missing widgets (like Wi-Fi toggle), inability to hide apps (I understand you can disable them, but the steps to disable an app are far too much. Why not simply allow us to disable them by long-pressing the icon?), and just general laggyness, and I'm not impressed so far. I've done a factory reset, for what it's worth.

Anyone showing high percentage for screen brightness ?

I leave auto brightness on and on GB always showed around 20-35% battery used.

Since ICS update .. showing 70-80% .. this happening to anyone ? Auto Brightness still on.

Background Disabled Alert. When you disable/restrict the background data now, ICS puts a triangle alert in status bar that cannot be removed (through previous means anyway). It doesn't affect much, but it is annoying and should be removable.
Was wondering if anyone has figured out how to remove the alert with background data off.

yes this is happening to me as well. I just got the Razr Maxx yesterday (Ordered on the 27th to keep my precious unlimited data). As soon as I got it I activated it and went directly to upgrade to ICS, so it was a clean install.

Me too. Mine's set near in the lower fourth, so it's not even that bright. Even if I had the screen on upwards of 4 hours a day, it wouldn't take more than 40% of the battery. Now after ICS, an hour and a half will take more than 60% of the battery.

I don't have auto brightness set and it is only at 16%. On the other hand the Android OS is using 49% of the battery. Voice Calls comes in 2nd at 20%.

I'm running my phone the same as before the update and am seeing improved battery life by around 10-20%.

On a side note, whenever I type something a new notification pops up for selecting different keyboards. Then it goes away when I'm finished. Can this be toggled on/off?

On the subject of battery life.....

After an OS update, new ROM install or factory reset (which you should be doing with either of these) the battery stats are erased. This means that it will take a few charging cycles for things to be reading normally again. The OS actually has to "learn" how the battery is used to display properly. So your battery may appear to be much worse or much better than it actually is.

I have had the same issue with widgets. I installed Weatherbug but no option to add widget...I thought it might be an app/ICS compatibility issue.

In GB for my corporate email account I was able to select individual days of the week to sync my email. I only work Mon, Wed and Thurs so those are the only days that I want my corp email account to sync. I would love to be able to do this in the stock mail app if there is a way but if someone has a free app that sync's email and calendar, I am all ears.

Thanks in advance!
Erik

My wife installed beautiful widgets and had to wait a few minutes for the widgets to actually show up in the app drawer.

Looks like it might have been a timing thing...cause i gave up deleting/reinstalling last nite and when i tried again this morning everything seemed to work..
either that or the phone sensed that i was about to teach it to fly and decided to give me a break..

anyone else miss the recently used apps on the status bar? or is there a way to enable that that i'm not seeing?

I believe if you long press the home button, it will pop up a list of recently used apps. You cam swipe them to the right to remove them from the list.

It think that is actually a list of running/standby apps, and swiping closes the app. But same effect...

So far I'm not seeing any major changes that make me say I'm glad I went to ICS. I miss the power widget and don't care for the way it's set up now. I prefered the pc/phone connect, disconnect the way it was. Task removal is different. Does it really stop the task by swiping it off the phone or is it still running in the background somewhere? The phone doesn't run any smoother than GB did. I see no change. I see the changes mostly as a wash-some are better some I liked better in GB. But for this as a upgrade, I don't see it. I see it more as a change. It would have to vastly improve battery life, make the phone alot faster, improve the useability by alot. I don't see those things. It's like Chevy vs Ford. Had a Chevy, now it's a Ford. Guess I was hoping for more of a Chevy to Ferrari or even just a small leap up like to a Honda, lol....

Just curious-after an OS update-what does a factory reset do to help? or why do a factory reset? a link to the answer in another place is fine :)

Yes, doing a factory reset is HIGHLY recommended after a os upgrade like this. Everyone should preform one before coming on here and complaining about issues. :D

After you update, all your software and all your settings were built on the last OS. Not all of those get changed, or completely replaced. Alot of the software will have bugs because of that, or else they are just not optimized. Factory resetting guaranties all the software is built to run on the new OS and all the settings are right.
