Official "I've got mine" + user-reviews thread

I have recently joined the ranks of Infinity owners. It's still doing it's first charge :) My old A500 isn't holding up to what it needs to do for my tablet needs, so I felt the upgrade was warranted, despite no 5GHz capability :(

Now to the All Things Root subforum! :p

So you took the plunge even though it didn't have the dual band wifi, huh? Any issues with channel collisions so far?

Yeah, like I said in my first post, my old Acer A500 wasn't cutting it anymore. Games I wanted to play wouldn't boot up or were not smooth. So I figured I'd try a Tegra3. The Infinity was getting great reviews with it's OC'd T3 at 1.6 GHz, so I splurged.

I haven't done any conclusive testing on the network, yet. If it can play a few TV episodes on Netflix of Hulu without buffering during the show, I'll be happy with network performance. I had some irregular operation since taking the firmware update, so I've held off on rooting and will likely make sure it's not something I did and will factory reset it to clean everything out. Although I think part of my problem is that I've accidentally hit the home button or the power button, as the bezel is smaller than my old tablet and the power button is in a different place and seemingly more sensitive than my old tablet, too.

Jer, the Netflix app is basically unusable on the Infinity, worse if it's in performance mode. My assumption is that it's some sort of a conflict with the hi res display, since the app works fine on a TF100. I'm hoping that the devs will do something to correct the problem.
I've not tried the Netflix website to see how it behaves.

Ah, I see. The Hulu app works ok, it seems (although I didn't test it for very long). And I'll likely try Netflix, anyways. Not that I don't believe you, but now I'm curious as to what the problem looks like.

I guess I could have been more clear, couldn't I. :)
The Netflix app loads correctly, you can log and it LOOKS great on it's home page.
However it doesn't respond to touches. You can't scroll through shows (or it scrolls VERY slowly), and I don't recall for sure, but I don't think I ever got it to start streaming a show.

I got it to stream a show just fine. Yes, the menu is quite laggy, but other than that, it works fine streaming a show. At least on my tablet.

I get the impression that a lot of apps won't be updated to use 1080p screens just because of the TF700T. It seems like you have to really grab the devs' attention to get them to really focus on a particular device aside from the Nexuses.

This is true, however I'm sure there are many 1080p tablets just on the horizon. Devs would be foolish to not start working on suitable FullHD apps.

Received my new Infinity this morning. Unlike the last one I'm happy to say this one works fine. The HDMI sure looks good on the TV. Works fine in the dock and the USB works great too. I celebrated my happiness by poisoning myself at McDonalds. I apparently forgot how nasty that stuff is.

At least you have your new infinity to take into the bathroom for the hours you're about to be spending there.

I finally ordered the tablet. Got the 32gb amethyst model. I even got the dock; I didn't think I would need it, but I decided that since it was the signature feature of the Transformer tablets, I should have one. Plus, I'm about to go on a long trip, and the dock will serve me well as a screen protector. And I think not holding the tablet while watching tv/video on the plane will be very comfy.

I'll post my review of the device as I get a chance to play with it.

Same thing ran through my mind before buying. The infinity is androids best tablet by itself, but the dock is what has made the transformer line so valued.

I got the dock, and glad I did. But when I use it I sometimes think to myself, why didn't I just get an ultrabook?

I simply don't need the computing power of a full PC when I travel. And at home, I have big workhorse desktops for my computing needs. My tablet is intended to be for entertainment and media/web consumption. Touch screen human interface is nice. Screen res is nice. Android OS allows for easy data transfer from desktop or from cloud.

YEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

i just got my new toy. so here is my story:
i originally took the plunge into the tablet scene when i bought my transformer prime and its keyboard dock. it was my first tablet and i loved it especially the keyboard dock. i started to use it more then i would my laptop, since most of my time was spent on the net. i took the thing everywhere i went. then one day, my stupid dog goes berserk and decides to charge at my when i was not looking and tackles me. well of course i had my tablet in hand and i thus dropped into the tiled floor. and much to my horror my screen shatters. luckily i had Best Buys black tie protection which covers accidents like this (THANK GOD FOR THAT!!!!!)

so today i go in to see what BB can do for me. i was worried that they would replace it with another prime. (to be honest that would have been fine). but apparently they do not carry it anymore. YEAH me:D and they told me that they could not send it in to get fixed as well YEAH me again:D They also said that they can replace the tablet with the infinity. YEAH ME:D but they do not have the keyboard dock yet as the tablet is still very new. Bummer me:( so anyways with my new toy in hand i went home and opend it up. i then connected the infinity to my prime's dock. and it fit and locked nicely. i powered the tablet on and tested the keyboard and it worked:D

it is fully charged now, and so far i'm really happy with it. my wifi connection soooo much better then the prime. gonna test this out more later, but i like what i see so far.

Nice to see you around these parts, ocn :) You kinda went dark after you got your Evo 3D.

funny you should mention that. everyone should know about the old wives tale about bad things happens in three's. well today i dropped my evo 3d and it shattered. and no its not the dogs fault this time. the fault all goes to me. now i need to go back to BB and get it fixed. i'm scarred to see what the third thing will be:( hopefully nothing)

anyways. so i love the fact that i do not have to buy another dock as the prime's dock works flawless for me. this tablet seems faster and the screen is amazing!!!!!!!

netflix is buggy but it was the same on the prime, so i'm used to that. it streams just fine. is it me or is it heavier then the prime?

According to reviews, the infinity it's slightly heavier, due to the new screen. I never owned one though.

Well I am happy to say that my Infinity arrived yesterday and I was able to play around with it for a while. All I can say is WOW! This thing is amazing! Super smooth and little to no problems that I can find with it. I think I am going to be a very happy camper. I am so glad I decided to get this and not the iPad 3. I had an iPad 2 and this thing is night and day better.

Just tried the dock as well and it is sweet! I think I am in love lol.:D I just hope my wife doesn't get jealous....:p

For all of you waiting on this tab showing up at your doorstep it is well worth the wait and you will be glad you waited as I grew very impatient but in the end the wait was well worth it.

Finally gave in and ordered mine (32GB) and it should hit BB next Tuesday. It was a little cheaper at Amazon ($11) but I went with BB in case I have problems and need to return or exchange it. Taking it to a local store will be much easier than dealing with Amazon if I have an issue.

yep i totally agree with that. bought mine at best buy. the thing that sucks (sort of) is that they do not have the docks yet. luckily the prime's dock fits nicely on mine right now. what was cool was that the lady at customer service was going to do a warranty return for me (long story but see post# )and my dock and get me the dock for the infinty. but like i said they do not have them yet.

I bought a prime from BB as soon as they received stock early this year. After reading a post about people returning the Prime and BB swapping it for an Infinity I thought I would give it a shot 8 months after the purchase. To my surprise they swapped it no questions asked and I cannot be more pleased. I feel like I have the tablet I thought the Prime would be. I couldn't be happier!

I have the 'Infinity' dock and it says that it is also compatible with the Prime. I guess they finally updated the books to say "Prime/Infinity" instead of just Prime :p

It makes sense that they're compatible, the measurements are nearly identical and the Infinity is a Prime with some tweaks to fix the problems + better screen.

Been a long time since I posted anything, but I feel like bragging about my Infinity. I bought it at Office Depot, 64GB, with the dock, and a 32GB micro SD card, so I should be good for a while.

I also got the ASUS USB adaptor, so I can plug thumb drives and printer cables directly into the tablet if I need to. Wasn't sure it would work with the Infinity, but I decided to try it out anyway. Then I spent enough time transferring different types of files from my laptop to a thumb drive to the tablet to make sure it works. Nice option to have.

My new tablet is awesome! I thought about going to the dark side (they have cookies), and getting an Ipad, but since I have no other Mac anything, I figured as a stand alone device, I would be missing out on something in the Mac experience, and I hated that Ipod touch so, so, so much it left a bad taste for Mac with me.
Anyways, that screen is epic. Typing with the on screen keyboard is fine, the dock is even better. I tried to download and update every app I wanted the first night, thinking I could bog it down, but it was always done loading when I looked for lag!

I have a Tuf Luv case ordered for it as well, and will post about that when it arrives (around Sep 9).

ETA. My wife (completely non tech), has been playing with my tablet for almost 3 hours now. We may soon be a 2 tablet family.
