Official MetroPCS BYOD discussion thread

that's cool, but what they are saying is most of those speeds are theoretical because no one is on them yet, they even said it should have problem been faster, this is probably that LTE-A that they were referring to on the G2 as well, still awesome though

The theoretical max is 150mbps and they're only hitting 80 the tester on hofo said the speeds should be much higher but they may be artificially capping it or they have insufficient backhaul with the right conditions real world should average around 120 at the time of official launch
But when the network is loaded with real usage expect around the speed that he got, 60-100

precisely, that'll be totally boss if we don't have to go to verizon to get it.

OK, I have found my first and hopefully only glitch.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy Mega through AT&T, my local Metro PCS store switched it over.

It won't let me tether for wi fi hot spot, I'm getting a "Mobile data is not available or invalid SIM" from what I've googled, there is no fix, the phone is apparently trying to tether through T Mobile but I have a Metro PCS SIM so T Mobile won't let me.

If anybody has heard of a fix, please let me know.

Bit of a bummer, but thankfully I don't use the feature much. Everything else working fine.

Someone in LA is getting 72Mbps:
Verizon's LTE boosted in 'major markets' by new frequency, hits 80 Mbps down (update)

Will be interesting to see what people get with heavy use, and when other networks get it.

I just ported my HTC ONE over and it works great..even the hotspot feature still works...question though, my wife has a s4 from verizon but we used on tmobile can they still port this phone over? I called them and said yes they can....but when I went into the store today they said they couldnt because it was verizon?

Yeah 9mbps. Not too shabby for the Kissimmee area. They must've upgraded some towers because I was getting nowhere close to these speeds before.

Quick question tho. Is there a real difference between at&t galaxy s4 and T-Mobile variants? Looking to buy and unlock at&t version to bring over to metro byod but I wanna be sure they have same frequencies or not. Thank u guys

Yes but you can fix it by enabling T-Mobile HSPA+ AWS bands on the AT&T phone.

I have a question! I have a Metro CDMA S3 at the moment, and I plan on upgrading to the Nexus 5 when it comes out. Once I get the Nexus 5, can I just pop the micro SIM from my S3 into the Nexus 5 and have everything working, or will I need to purchase a new, separate SIM card to get it to work? Sorry, I'm kind of clueless when it comes to these kinds of things...thanks guys!
