Hello,
I wanted to make sure that my sony st15i (Xperia mini) is not compatible with metro before buying a new phone.
Apparently there is an annoying difference between the st15a and the st15i

ST15i: UMTS HSPA 900 (Band VIII), 2100 (Band I)
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900
ST15a: UMTS HSPA 800 (Band V), 1900 (Band II), 2100 (Band I)
GSM GPRS/EDGE 850, 900, 1800, 1900

If someone could tell me that would be great :-)

With the *a* you'd get HSPA+ in refarmed areas but the *i* you'd max at 2G

That's what I was afraid of :/
Thanks for the confirmation.
I'll have to get myself a new phone ( nexus 5 is out of stock of course  ).

Hope procedure to switch phone wont be too annoying.

Heya,

I was wondering if this phone will work on metropcs, i got the old CDMA S3 and was thinking of making the change to a GSM phone. If possible id like to get this as my GSM,

So can it? :D

Hello there. Take a look around and you will find some other threads that have already asked that question. But, yes, the Nexus 5 will work on Metro's BYOD.

i gave a quick look and didnt see anything, prolly missed it im sure.

i was thinking of getting the S4 because of the eyeball tracking thing but then i caught wind of the n5 and thought maybe that

also thanks for the info

I went to a MPCS Center to question BYOD Google Nexus 5.
Don't you know he told me That it would not work on Metro unless he unlocked it, and activated the SIM card all for $100.
I told him that he was crazy. (I have balls since I have N5 ordered).

Please don't let them rip you off.

Even worse because the phone is already SIM unlocked. :banghead:

I know im kind of late but today i went to a metropcs local store and my had them put my iphone 5 that was unlock on my account, i wish i wouldve known the guy was screwing me over since i payed $50 to have "unlocked the metropcs sim card for my device" for and extra 10 bucks, i also upgraded from 45 to 50 so he made $15 off me

Lex, start with either doing all your Metro stuff yourself on-line or by phone or sticking to a Corporate store or only an Authorized Dealer someone recommends to you.

It has been common for sometime for Metro Authorized dealers to get away with whatever they can and Metro will only address an issue (that I have seen) if it's particularly egregious. You are also less likely to get screwed over at a Corporate store as they tend to stick to company policy tighter.

But yes, if I understand correctly, assuming you are a new customer to Metro, you could have gotten the Sim card on-line for $10 and only had a $15 new activate charge. If you were already a Metro customer it would have just been $10 for the Sim card and you'd activate that over the phone.

No matter what his plan would change to $50 since the $45 plan isnt available for BYOD I believe.
