Official MetroPCS BYOD discussion thread

I believe the l9 will do HSPA +42 so it will have fast "4G" but no LTE.

I have personally seen 26mbs down with 3mbs up with HSPA + 42 but as usual your results may vary depending on market/signal.

And yes for the metro byod you ideally want to have a device with native 1700/2100 AWS for both HSPA and LTE

The Nexus 4 is one such phone, even though LTE is not officially there.
Another will be the newer t mobile galaxy S3 SGH-T999L the older one the SGH-T999 has the HSPA + but not the LTE.

Google play edition of the Galaxy S 4 also will work well, but unfortunately not the Google play edition HTC ONE.

Thank you , so helpful . So one last question , the l9 it will not connect to Metro's 4g lte (cdma) anymore ?

I just came back from MetroPCS..... Phone successfully activate :D.... I'll ppst more info later on, busy right now. But I'm in a building with low reception and on speedtest i got 8mbps down and 5mbps up :D ... Thank youvall for the help!

Attention for all you "In The Know". ;)

Approximately how long until say Authorized Dealers will begin to get new GSM phones?

I have said it before and it needs repeating now.

I NEED to see two similar phones in specs, one on Metro CDMA and the other on GSM.

What about corporate stores?

I think our Slocala stores are way down on the supply teat.

I think some one wants to swap out his spirit while its still worth something. You got any phone in mind?

No, I'm not changing phones anytime soon. I'm just REALLY curious.

'Sides, I have my Motion to sell before I get to the Spirit for sale. (And that needs to happen Soon.)

One of the reasons I signed on with Metro when I did was to get in on the last hours of the $55 plan. I am in no hurry to pay $60 More A Year for "the same plan".

I have said before that I laugh at how data speeds are so much, "mine is bigger than yours". I mean it. Right now I'm getting consistent 4-6s. That does everything I need a signal to do.

My Spirit too does everything I need it too. Even my second choice of case and screen protectors works for me. There's just no need for me to fixed something that ain't broke. Of course, that still doesn't mean I'm not curious and want to see the two different networks at work. When you take my rebate and the $80 my Droid X's got me, my Spirit ended up costing me $80. If I use it for a year (sometime after the end of this one) $80 for a years usage on this nice of a phone is an OK deal for me.

If I absolutely HAD TO get a new phone Right Now, I'd do whatever it took to come as close to $300 as I could for a GSM S3.

actually he is right. his $55 plan is a grandfathered plan that should be the exact same as the current $60 plan.

I have one that is $40 but i get the same unlimited no throttling as the $60 plan.

I have been a big supporter of the GSM switch but I can not see paying $240 per year more just to keep the same service i already have.

That being said t mo service will get you several more mbps over the equivalent metro phone.

The MotoX sounds like a possible contendah from what little I've heard so far.

So glad you think so, to me ferrying that vs gsm lte s3 is a vote with my wallet.
On a unrelated note don't ever vote with an empty wallet learned that the hard way

Yup, especially jumping from a 3G phone :D.... Walked in and I was the first customer to ask for the program. She didn't really know to much about it, but I helped her with what I could. Successful activation so I'm :D..... In my home I'm averaging between 6 and 9 mbps.

So how much was the sim and the activation and any other fee was involved?

Hey guys... I want to go and purchase the S4 from at&t, out the door, no contract... Take it to metro pcs and get the sim card... My question is will I run into any problems / issues.... Thanks... I want to get it today! :-)
Will this phone have to be unlocked first?
