***Official Midnight Release Party Thread***

i was going to go down to the store or call them this weekend and find out. if they do- def. i might be a little late to work on friday but of coarse it will be worth it. i hope my local vz is having giveaways, too!
 
I called a few stores in the northwest portion of Chicagoland and none were taking pre-orders nor did they mention a list I could be added. They did say they were opening an hour early at 8am.

If anyone finds a Verizon store in Chicago area open at Midnight please post it here since I have to work on Thursday morning.

I am #1 at my local best buy for pre-order but I would prefer the 1 year contract that Verizon offers for only $70 more.
 
Just got back from the store in my area and nothing special going on. No early open
I asked about a demo and he said they just got one but aren't allowed to bring it out.

I was told they would have about 50 units :-( He said they got the same for the Incredible launch and they sold out around 4:00pm. Didn't expect any crazy crowds but suggested not waiting until late afternoon.

The one bright spot was when I asked about accessories. His eyes got big and he said, "oh yeah we usually get shorted on accessories but this time they have LOTS". He general seemed surprised himself that they had them.

So it looks like I can sleep in a little longer.
 
Corpus Christi Corporate Verizon Wireless Store is having a midnight release party as well! DJ playing , 5 free jawbone headsets given away to first 5 people who activate with a 2yr agreement. $1,000 dollars in give aways !!! Party starts at 11pm 07/14/2010. Other vendors will be onsite giving away additional prizes !!

Whoa Sweet! Another sweet Midnight release party from Texas w00t! Your store is like 1.5hrs from mine :D

Called my 4 closest corp stores, 2 said they are opening an hour early and 2 said they didn't know yet. none of them could tell me how many they would have in stock for Thursday.
 
The two I called are opening at 8:00 a.m (2 hours early) One is in Tucson (oracle rd and Wetmore) and the other is in Marana (Cortaro road)
 
Still have not found any store in Chicagoland that is having a midnight release. Earliest store opening I found is Woodfield Mall at 7am. BTW, they have a droid demo unit at that store that they let me play with. WOW! I can not wait.
 
If anyone has news in Philadelphia or Delaware county pls post! One store near me is opening an hour early on Thursday.

How can you tell if a store is a "corporate" store?

The one in University City in Phila. is pretty clueless!

Yeah woodfield mall is 7AM, All the other corporate stores in the area are saying 8AM opening. I'm hoping we find a Chicagoland store doing a midnight release....That would be great!!!!!!!
 
just thought i would add, i got off the phone with the verizon wireless store at mohawk commons (schenectady, ny) thirty seconds ago and they wouldn't tell me how many phones they have, they are not opening early, and there is no pre-ordering. :(

Center City, Philadelphia -- ditto, ditto and ditto.
 
I just called mine to find out about getting one for my GF. I was told they are opening at 8 and have no idea how many they will receive. She was quick to point to me that they can order them on the 15th and will be delivered to your home the next day....which obviously I could order on VZW's website anyway myself....oh well guess we're going at 8 then off to BB for mine :p
 
Well I found a verizon corporate store that said they would hold one for me until I get off of work. So unless I find a midnight release I guess I will get it there. I plan to get a 1 year contract provided it is only $70 more.

yeah what's the deal with this? does a 1 year contract cost $299 + $70 - $0 rebate?

Or does it come to $269.99 ?
 
The store in New Braunfels that I visited yesteday isn't having a release party either, but they thought it was a great idea! LOL!! And we all agreed it wouldn't be a good party without coldbeer! I'll check the San Marcos store tomorrow, maybe being a college town will make a difference.

This is what they told me as well...the clifton park store said to call back tomorrow and they would know if they're opening early and have a better idea about the number of phones. I'll post if they tell me anything.
