Official Release Date Rumor Thread

Ok, feeling kind of stupid. I tried clicking on the "Watch the video" link in the email and it goes to a Facebook page with no video. I looked at the videos tab on the FB page and it was all stuff from last year's release. What am I missing?

I thought this too but wouldn't it make more sense for the non-keyboard phone to have the larger battery?

Either way, I am stoked for this phone. I have been waiting for a good 4.3" AT&T phone to drop. This will be my first android device.

I know the SGII won't come with Ice-Cream Sandwich installed but how long should it take to get the update after the update is released?
 
I have some new info about the AT&T release. I may have found out why all the AT&T stores are telling you guys that they haven't even heard of the SG2 or the Attain. I spoke with a good friend of mine tonight who is a manager at a corporate AT&T store. They said they had not heard anything about the SG2 or Attain but that they are having a soft launch of a new device this Sunday going by the code name "the baxter project". They said that sometimes they code name high profile releases in order to help keep things under wrap. So, the store managers out there would know that they are having a high profile release this Sunday but all the know about it is the code name. This person is a long time friend of mine and I trust that what they are saying is true. All we need to do now is hope that baxter = SG2.

Anyone else hear anything like this?

Not saying you are wrong at all, but this kind of business move makes no sense to me at all. Release a phone that not even the employees who sell them are even aware of?

I hope you are in fact correct, but just seems strange lol. That is all.

Also someone pointed out on the Within Forums, that the city is Kansas City, which is apparently Sprint HQ. So that might be the Sprint version and release date. I think both the AT&T and Sprint version will look about the same and be released around the same time.

We are almost there and we will know all.
 
Apparently my parents went into AT&T today to get new phones, and they asked the manager about the S2's release date. I guess the guy knew all about the phone and has been dying to get his hands on one. Anyways, he told them they are expecting to see the phone in their store on the 29th. I'm taking this with a grain of salt, but it's nice to hear.

Well the manager here in the ATT store told me that he has to have all staff in on the 17th of Sept for a "product update"..... so he said he is expecting something significant coming down the pipe... so who knows.... by then i'm hoping both the SGSII and the Thrill will be out... I'm excited... it's been a looooooooooooooooooong wait.... too long. :mad:

I'm not really sure to be honest.....he didn't say. He said he wasn't even sure exactly what it was either, but should know from corporate by the first week of Sept. I was just trying to pick his brain about the SGSII really.... just sharing what he said. :)

There could be a few very good reasons for it....from what I understand the carriers all fought over this phone (except Verizon, who took last release to obtain not only a better spec version, but also to reserve the rights to the net nexus first.)

From what everyone believes...sprint will be the first to release on the 9th...going along with their whole "first" campaign I would imagine...no one has had ANY idea of what att is doing...why not keep it secret...

then there is respect or some sort of agreement that could have been made...I am sure Samsung wouldn't want att to steal their thunder by reporting all over they will have this bad mamma jamma phone on the 28th...when the big Samsung announce is on the 29th.... but at the same time, Samsung is going to want SOMEONE to have this phone for sale when the announcement is made (at lease you would think...though this was NOT the case with the LG Thrill, but I still think they delayed that phone for the release of this one)

That weekend is the current release weekend for the Thrill...and no one really knows about the new iphone so who knows! Has IOS 5 officially released yet?

The only good news I bring is that the i777 I played with tonight does appear to be exynos...it scored in the 3100 range on quadrant and 55 mflops on linpack

I am trying to decifer other information about the processor that I gathered from the build prop etc.

it is definitely 1.2 dualcore...they tegra is 1.0 from what I understand.


the bad....

oct 2nd release is what I "gathered" tonight....but I seriously hope that is wrong. the phone is slated for q3 release and 10/2 is in q4 is it not?

I also got the transformers 3 info...but still hope that is only happening on the tmo gs2...


I really wish I had more info...but I don't. I got to play with it for a couple of hours but really didn't learn much new.

I sure hope your gathering skills are off. I really don't want to wait til October.
 
Grr it better not be October. I really wish this phone had a competitor because if there was a similarly spec'd phone even if it came out at the same time I would buy it just for spite of this round of BS. Unfortunately there really is no true competitor on AT&T, nor is there any in site besides the Nexus Prime.(Which who knows when we will actually get that one.) It almost pains me that this phone is the only good option because I really don't feel they deserve my business the way this phone has been handled. But like any tech fan I am not willing to get the lesser product just for spite. :/

No phone in history has ever infuriated me more though. I can't tell you how many times this phone has been "coming out next month." The length of time it is taking to get this phone over here is a big steaming pile of BS. It is already over half way on its way to being obsolete before we ever even get a picture of it.(Which is what infuriates me the most.) Unfortunately I am not willing to wait for the Prime because I am currently stuck on an iPhone which I absolutely despise and I can't get over to Android fast enough! /rant
 
Agreed. I think I could live with the Infuse, but definitely not Inspire or Atrix. Ugh..Mr Ed, you better be way off on the release date!!!
