Official Release Date Rumor Thread

sadly my guy at ATT says the release date was pushed back again (He is the one that confirmed the 28th for me last week)

He said at this point they have no idea. The thrill is going through the same thing. They were originally told mid to late July, then August, now Sept OR October on both phones

He says he won't tell me anything else until he has them in hand :(

Oh FFS, I'll give it to the 2nd before I switch to Sprint and deal with 3G service. I only get 2 bars of service and 2.5-2.7mb down on AT&T anyways.

PS: I've been without a phone for 2 weeks because I thought the SG2 was coming much sooner :(

PSS: Also checked Craigslist for a temp device, people are such rip offs.

That is quite sad. I'll wait until the Samsung announcements to see if Samsung or AT&T gives any hard dates. If not, I may get the Atrix.
Matt

At this point the Atrix 2 is slated for Q4..why buy now?

that is an unsubstantiated rumor, more than likely the phone the spokeperson was referring to is the stratosphere

That is straight from the Samsung source....who told me Verizon wouldn't be carrying the SGS2 only hours before the news broke online .... but ...he is also the source of 9/2 release for the SGS2 on Att that has now changed to 10/2 :/

Aren't you the one that provided the leaked picture with the lineup of AT&T's upcoming phones and it had the phone slated for Q3? Therefore, can't be after September, right? And now we have actual photos of all 3 carrier's versions which means we are close (I imagine).

This is the first time I've followed a release of a phone. Is it always crazy like this or is this pretty unusual? I know the iphone rumors are always crazy too.

If it really and truly is 10/2 what is the point? I suspect there will be several phones either out or coming out shortly by then that will put the GS2 to shame. If it takes that long for it to come out I am probably going to skip it and wait for something better. I am highly anxious to get over to an Android phone from my iPOS, but if I get a somewhat close date to something better before this phone comes out I will continue my wait. I am skeptical on how fast AT&T will get any of the better phones though considering their track record.

September is the last month in q3

So what is the hard date now? Is there one? I think my current phone is on it's last legs and after doing all my research I don't see another phone that stacks up the specs of the Attain (SGS2). I've called AT&T stores all I can call, they may know something but I really truly believe that they may not know anything at all.

Thanks

AJ

If they get it out by the roadmap leak then it will release by sept 30th

At this point the Atrix 2 is slated for Q4..why buy now?...............
Two reasons.

  1. EDGE. After two weeks of EDGE, I want a replacement now.
  2. I am excited to switch to the Android operating system.
Calmer heads have prevailed though. The no-brainer thing for me to do is to have my iPhone 4 replaced at the Apple genius bar for $199 (out of warranty replacement cost without another two year commitment). That will get me out of EDGE hell and I'll bet I can sell it for close to $199 if not more when I switch to the Attain. I can then wait more patiently for the Attain (or another hot-shot Android phone) and maybe not wind up checking this thread 20 times a day looking for release info. :p

Don't be so quick to judge, mergers like these can spawn a new era. This will give them the ability to push the limits with both software and hardware really sitting down and working together. Maybe they already have a secret phone planned and this merger is just part of the deal. I mean they aready came out with the fingerprint scanner, something I really wish the SGII had.
I just hope they get rid of motoblur  maybe... Gooblur ;)

Mr. Ed is correct; the main purpose of the acquisition was for Google to obtain patents to use in the tech war. I would also expect Google to sell Motorolla after keeping the rights to the patents. Think about it: if Google keeps Motorolla, it is a slap in the face to Samsung and HTC who both were an intergral part in popularizing Android. Google would now be one of their direct competitors, and I would expect Samsung and HTC to eventually stop packaging their phones with Android.

too late. Already tried that and returned it promptly due to the fact that the camera sensor was busted upon receiving it. :(

Just buy an International version and flash the modem when it comes available. Why wait? I have been using one for a month now flawlessly in Seattle.

How do you guys use 4.5 inch screens? Way too big lol.

Exactly...4.3 is already pushing it for me. To me, its a phone with some neat and useful functionality, not a portable TV that happens to have phone technology.

The Attain isa decent size and light and because of that and its great specs it is overall the best choice. Size of the Atrix was perfect for me and I'd of probably already bought one, but the screen is horrible and I can't accept that.

Ughh...The Thrill is is a nice phone at $99, but its extra real-estate around the screen makes it just about the same size as the Infuse, but at this point it might be the only choice.

Hoping for a first or 2nd week or Sept release.
