Official Release Date Rumor Thread

Yet we can't get a shred of information of a cell phone manufacture press event that WAS supposed to happen today, but is being held tomorrow!!!

Actually, this goes for the whole cell phone industry. How is it that cell phone companies have become better at keeping secrets than our government, and media industries that live & die by intellectual propery rights. LOL

So the announcement is tomorrow then!??? I know it was supposed to be today, then I read an article earlier saying it was being delayed one day (to Tuesday) but today I read 3 or 4 articles saying it was being delayed but none mentioned when it was actually going to take place (like they had no idea) and one article said the announcement would probably happen at the IFA conference in Berlin in early Sept????

I hate to be this d@mn bent out of shape over a phone, but I've also been waiting a very long time for this thing to drop....scratch that...for even a peice of solid release information. Surely by now samsung has to know they are probably driving away customers.

Good! They need to be punished for taking so long  Maybe they'll have learned their lesson by the time the S3 comes out.

What does patent lawsuits with Apple have to do with Samsung "taking so long"? So Samsung will "learn their lesson" and release their next phone early to avoid patent lawsuits? I don't see any logic to your thought process.

From one source, "We are expecting the Samsung Epic Touch 4G to launch first on Sprint on September 8th or 9th. The AT&T Attain is to follow."

An extra week or two is not a big deal considering some of you have been waiting months.

Today Is The Day We’ve Been Waiting For: Samsung Galaxy S II U.S. Launch Android Phones, Android Tablets, News, Tech, Gadgets And More, Thedroidguy

An extra week or two is not a big deal considering some of you have been waiting months.

The patent lawsuits haven't affected the US sales as much as it has Europe. While I'm sure that the Apple suits have delayed the release by a little....I think mostly the wait has been about Samsung trying to posture just before the release of the iPhone 5 for marketing purposes.

Since the iPhone 5 date has been wishy washy, the SGSII release date has been wishy washy (if the release date has been tied to marketing purposes)

And then there is all the problems with carriers making last minute tweeks to established hardware configs to fit THEIR own marketing mix.

And as for waiting out the extra 2 weeks....for me, its not about waiting the extra 2 weeks. I've waited out my contract + 6 months for a new phone. It's about what is on the other end of the SGSII release date.

The closer the SGSII comes to the upgraded Q4 Android phones, the less attractive the SGSII becomes. It's fustrating because this phone has already been designed & released to the world. This isn't a top secret project, yet it's treated like one.

I think the poster meant the loss of sales, not the actual lawsuit. If you didn't click the link, you had no idea the sale loss was from the lawsuit...I didn't...

Many don't realize the issues that the lawsuit was over either...

mainly the fact that they hardware button HAD to be removed...I think they honestly thought all would be good overseas...but it obviously is not.

I would suspect that the LTE version that will hit overseas will see the hardware change as well.

And for those that are confused...the ifa event will reveal the LTE version for OVERSEAS...then of course tonight is the reveal of the US SGS2 without LTE (assuming it hasn't been delayed again)

We wouldn't see an LTE version until Q1 or 2 next year.

I even suspect we will see something like the Celox first (if that isn't it to begin with)

Can't post links yet.

Android police states as a rumor that the US variants of the Galaxy S2 could have the LTE upgrades (4.5" screen, 1.5ghz) at launch.

Just a rumor, but after waiting 6 months for this phone, I'd accept the upgrades for my trouble.

Can't post link but if another member could do a google search for "androidpolice galaxy s2 lte", it's the first link that pops up. Thanks.

Confirmed! Samsung Galaxy S II (S2) LTE With Dual-core 1.5 GHz Processor and 4.5-inch Screen | Inspired Geek

Just like you said, the article claims that they've confirmed that the US variants of the SG2 will sport a 1.5 (instead of the 1.2) dual core processor, and a 4.5" screen (instead of the 4.3").

I'm still left confused...

So Verizon ISN'T getting a SGSII variant.....BUT they ARE getting a phone with similar specs & LTE.

BUT, the article above says the SGSII variants will have the bumped up specs that the Verizon phone was rummored to get (including LTE).

So the announcement is at 6pm Eastern Time?

Rogers is getting the LTE upgrade as well and have already posted pics that seem to be similar to the one we are getting over here:

I didn't think the hardware button had to be removed? I thought that was just a US thing, the LTE version appears to keep the button.

Dammit! The 4.5 screen size is why I didnt get the infuse. Is the 4.5 size confirmed for the attain? Please say this isn't so!

Please say it is!!!!!! I love the Infuse screen size. :D

But if they didn't fix the crappy GPS they can keep it. :(

GPS doesn't work on the Infuse? I thought they fixed it (Captivate GPS was doodoo). If the Attain GPS licks doodoo, maybe I should go w/HTC or Moto.

Even last year, they didn't put hardware buttons on SGS in US but international ones got physical home buttons. They never put physical home button in any version of US SGS, SGS2. So when that LTE SGS2 makes it to US, I'm sure it will be with capacitive buttons as in some leaked Celox photos.

sprints training site says 1.2ghz still...

it worked on the infuse i had and works on my parents infuse

Hmm, if the AT&T version is 4.5"... I dunno. I played with the Infuse at the store and .. I dunno. Hopefully it's 4.3", which I was already a little worried about. To me 4.0" is juuuust right.

Now that both T-mobile, Sprint ones have 4.5" screen. I guess Attain will also have 4.5" screen. I prefer 4.3", but 4.5" won't be too bad if bezel around it is small.

Right....4.3" would have been perfect. I'm a 6'1" guy, and the Infuse was JUST small enough for me to get that thumb up at the top of the screen to swipe down the notification tray.

Unfortunately, it looks like the bezel will be similar to the Infuse and will probably sport the same form factor. Like one of the other guys said, it was the thinness of the phone that made the size hard to handle in one hand.

It's interesting to me that they are even working on 5" screen phones when 4.5" is pushing it.

However, from a media experience point of view...man that 4.5" screen is NICE! I couldn't help but give that "aww how cute" look at my iPhone 3G when I had to go back to it. LOL

I'm normally in route home at 6 pm; I think I'm staying a little late at work to hear the good stuff :)

Not thrilled with the 4.5" screen, but I'll live. Guess I HAVE to go with a holster for it now. I do hope the ridiculous growth of the screens slows down soon. I'm looking for a phone, not a tablet PC (and yes, I know the distinction will soon be moot if it's not already, but still)!
