Official Release Date Rumor Thread

I just don't know if I should wait or go for the Thrill. As I've said in a post way back, I'm still rocking an Iphone 3GS and I'm soooooo bored with it lol. I just want to go android. I'm envious of my wife's captivate lol.

IMO...try the Thrill..you can always take it back within the 30 days. I am pretty certain I am going to try it out...

anyone else have work on Costco actually having the Thrill out now for $34??
I am going to check it out in a bit but I don't have a costco card.

as promised..sorry they are blurry..I actually haven't used my point and shoot since buying an android phone lol. not to mention I had only a few moments left alone with the phone while he was "occupied"

So I dropped by Best Buy & AT&T during my lunch break...

The guy at Best Buy had no clue when its releasing. He referenced some of the same rumored sources online that I've been familiar with and said the reason for the hold up in situations like these is that they have to make sure that the carrier bloatware jives correctly with Android & the hardware. Still...it shouldn't take that long.

I then dropped by the AT&T store and one of the salesman straight out told me next Sunday. Granted, I visited with this guy about 3 weeks ago and he didn't have a clue Samsung was even sending a SGSII variant to AT&T.....but today he said release is next Sunday (9/11). So take it with a grain of salt.

Don't want to re-quote the message with photos but those images are kind of visually distorted due to the angle, they make the Infuse look like a gargantuan monster and it is not. However those photos CLEARLY convinced me (despite the distortion from the angle of the shot) to keep the Infuse until the <fill in the blank> next 4.5 incher device comes out (or maybe a switch to T-Mo) because the difference in the screen is SO VERY NOTICEABLE. I have no real need for dual core and prefer the larger screen size.

When I put the Infuse 4.5 against the Inspire 4.3 the physical size difference is not nearly as noticeable as the Infuse vs. the GSII in that photo so I will have to say it is either due to the angle of the shot or the Inspire (not Infuse - easy to get confused on names) is a lot larger than the GSII and I don't think it is.

I give up on SGS2 and went w/ an LG Thrill today at Costco out the door ~$34. Loving it so far other than can't get the internet to work unless wifi but I suspect is cuz I'm using a non-4g sim card.
Despite what AT&T might tell you there is no "non-4G sim card" just like there was no 3G sim card. I have a 3yr old SIM in my Infuse (doesn't even say 3G on it) and get 4G speeds (5MP+) without problem. Sounds like either your account isn't properly setup or something else is at play.

One thing to note is that if you buy from Costco, they have a 90 day return policy instead of your usual 30 day anywhere else.

Curious ... I know Costco has 90 day return policy on cell phones BUT after the first 30 days can you swap it for something else at the subsidized/discount price or just get a refund then be stuck having to buy a full price phone elsewhere. Costco does not sell cell phones without new contract and AT&T will not "give back" your subsidized/discount upgrade privilege after 30 days and Costco has no control over that since they are at the mercy of AT&T's system.

I called ATT about this last week.. You CAN NOT get your discount status back after 30 days.

and ...I just picked up a thrill at radio shack (target kiosk) for $49.99

can't hurt to try it

lol..you are cracking me up. there is no distortion...visible screen area is not nearly as big of a difference as you guys make it out to be.

the infuse is actually a monster in comparison...just like the picture shows.

I will keep you posted on how things go with the thrill I picked up today.

I am really curious about GPS...and how quickly we can get GB on it. Kinda sucks that after all the delays it still shipped with 2.2.2

You are right. I just got a 2nd thrill from Costco after upgrading another line and they clarified after 30 days you lose upgrade eligibility even though you can return.

You're right on this one too. I woke up this morning and data us now working at 7mbps download 1mbps upload

That makes sense, and I have no problem with that, but can you replace the phone 60 days later and still get the "discount" price on a replacement or is all you get a refund and hung out to dry?

Glad to hear your "4G" started working.[/QUOTE]

A photo taken on the angle you used, besides the out of focus, distorts the actual size immensely.

That is YOUR OPINION which you are fully entitled to on the difference in screen size. I disagree from months of using both size screens TO ME it makes a major difference.

So then what you are also inferring is that INSPIRE 4.3" is a much larger phone then the GALAXY 4.3" because according to this CLEAR photo the two 4.5" GSII phones look barely a hair larger if that then the 4.3" version. So by logic IF the 4.3 INSPIRE and the 4.3 Galaxy are close in size then the 4.5 INFUSE should show the same difference as the 2 GSII's which in this photo is negligible.

So lets agree to disagree.

You can do an exchange of the same phone make/model within 90 days, she said

For what it's worth, LG thrill and HTC inspire side by side the HTC inspire looked noticeably bigger yet they are both spec'd as 4.3"

But isn't the Infuse a bit bigger than the SGS2's with the 4.5" screen? I believe the specs on the infuse is 5.2x" and the SGS2 with the 4.5 is 5.1x" (used x cause I couldn't remember the EXACT size)

So that would add a bit more justification to Mr. Eds photo.

That is what I was trying to showalong with the fact that actual visable screen area is very similar... ....i have no idea what the other Ed is trying to say at this point. but if it helps I will get pics of the inspire infuseyou can also see how much better the attain handles resolution.... attain thrill and aria all in line lol.

i only had the infuse and the attain at the time.. a point and shoot that i havent used in over a year.. and the amount of time it took the samsung guy to piss to take shots.

I have no clue why you guys are arguing. I also don't know why you guys are posting pictures of the phone sizes. Anyone can go on Samsungs website and see:

Infuse 4G = 5.2” x 2.8” x .35”
Galaxy S2 = 4.96” x 2.60” x .35”

It doesn't take a genius to get an idea of the size difference. The Infuse is 7.7% wider and 4.8% longer than the GS2.

I wish they would stick with the 4" screens because now we are getting closer to Nintendo DS / PSP territory. My Captivate is 4.78” x 2.5” x 0.39”, which I think is a really good size for a cellphone.
