As anxious as I am to buy this phone today, I am going to wait until someone properly tests and demonstrates that the GPS really works well. Despite the software/firmware fixes, my Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) has never been very reliable (i.e. - consistently quick to get an accurate fix and hold onto it).
I purchased a Samsung Infuse 20 days ago, with the intention of exchanging it for the GS II today. However, in those 20 days I have found that although its GPS is way better than the Captivate, it is still nowhere near as reliable as many other smartphones from other manufacturers, which makes me wonder whether or not Samsung has finally gotten its GPS act together with the GS II.
I am very surprised and disappointed that in all these "hands-on" and "unboxing" reviews we've been seeing in the last week or so, that they have overlooked this. It was a huge known issue, and still remains a major criticism of the Galaxy S series, and I am simply stupefied by this omission.
Have any of you yet seen or read a review that discusses this? If so, I would appreciate if you could point me to it. Thanks very much.
