Device is not a main focus (Droid line is), VZW is slow in updates and Samsung will not push it like Motorola has done.

People that even think Gingerbread will hit devices this year (in mass) are wrong. The main focus for 3.0 is adding features for netbooks and tablets- not phones. Dual cores and netbooks / tablets will see 3.0 WAAAAY before current devices will. Bank on it.

BTW, I think VZW should push the Fascinate more than they do, but if you go into stores, they tend to now push the Incredible more than any device.

Yeah pretty much. Makes the conspiracy theorist in me think that VZW does not have to sell as many SF's because they are already getting paid from MS for the Bing thing whether they sell them or not. Now it is true that they do advertise the SF. I see at least one commercial a day for it. But like you said because its not part of the Droid brand.... second class
 
All I want for Christmas is some Gingerbread.... Android Gingerbread.

Verizon, please give us Froyo mid October and some tasty Gingerbread will hold us over until next year.

My Fascinate Update wishlist:
Google default (Never going to happen)
Video output through 3.5mm and microusb (It is supported by the hardware, but VZW disabled it in Android)
Fixed GPS
Vanilla Android please :)

Where did you find this out? A samsung rep on Twitter (however reliable THAT is ...) said that the HDMI cable was never meant for Galaxy S devices, so I'm not referring to that, but I'm asking where you read that the 3.5 is indeed supported by Verizon, but disabled on the software level?

I, too, am hoping this is the case, and that it gets "undisabled" soon, but where did you find your info?
 
I wouldn't expect it until November or December. Believe I read somewhere that was rumored to be released for the European Galaxy S toward the end of October so we'll probably get it later.

From what I've been reading, the end of October. But what I've been reading didn't really carry much weight to it. Seems like borderline wishful thinking. Who knows, it could be out 2 weeks from now or just in time for Black Friday.
 
Honestly, I have no real need for Flash.
2.1 with the tweaks I've done is doing awesome.
I'm thinking middle of November we will see 2.2.
 
I wouldnt be surprised if the guys over at xda have the first leaks out before Halloween. As far as an official OTA update, Santa's delivering that methinks

I don't think it will happen. Hopefully it happens in October though. Not that a rooted, de-bloated de-bing'd, launcher pro'd Fascinate really needs much help ...

Yeah I really hope the xda devs do get it up next month; that and the voodoo. And yes, our SF's are good as is but then so is an i7@3.2Ghz...you know what I mean SK ;) . The grass is greener on the 4Ghz+ & Froyo side. [H] :cool:
 
The UK will most likely see Froyo by mid October. With the way Verizon works I would expect to see it for the Fascinate by late November to mid December.

I see this coming in November...thats my speculation. Anyway. I am excited to see what gingerbread brings! haha
