On the GPS front, mine is good to go. I just keep GPS turned on, so when I open BING Maps or Google Maps, there I am.... the blue dot on the map.

Yeah I've also noticed more consistently accurate and quicker syncs when GPS is always on

See, and I don't have issues even though I use it on-demand only. Just used it again tonight to get to a football game. It takes about a minute and a half typically, sometimes less, to get a lock after enabling GPS and punching in my destination. It has worked fine every single time so far, and I have used it quite a bit. I don't use it every day, but several times a week.

Here is one thing that pissed me off last night though... My bro-in-law and I were texting and I wanted to send him some of the text from within an email I had revieved. I opened the email and tried to hold to get a "Select Text" option of some sort to come up... but no go. So I ended up needing to just forward the entire email to his email address instead of simply copy/paste into the text.

Don't know if this would have worked for you, but if you could get your stock keyboard to open in your email, then swype from the bottom left key (the swype info key) over to the "SYM" key, it opens a new keyboard, and in the middle is a "select text" key

That is total crap that you can't copy and paste in any window to any window. Does 2.2 allow copy/paste or is it lamed like this in that respect?

I don't believe this is a 2.1 issue or a samsung issue. Seems to be an email program issue. In the Gmail app I can't copy anything except links. It would be nice to be able to copy and select text. When I'm composing an email it seems to let me copy out of that box. Then I can paste it wherever I want, even in a different program like the texting program. I just tried it and it worked. There's just no way I know of to select or copy anything other than hyperlinks from a Gmail I've received.

I suppose if you reply, and include the text, you could grab it then.

I just saw the news about the Samsung Mesmerize for US Cellular that's releasing October 27th . I did some research because it looks like the fascinate and its basically the same phone at least model numbers and specs are the same. But its coming with froyo already on board!!!! Quote "The Mesmerize will cost $ 199. 99 after an $80 mail- in rebate and largely resembles Verizon ' s
Samsung Fascinate in design . Like the rest of the Galaxy S series, the smartphone features a 4 -
inch Super AMOLED touch screen, 1 GHz Hummingbird processor , Android 2.2 , a 5- megapixel
camera with HD video capture, and Samsung' s Media Hub video store." Looks like that's good news for us SF owners hopefully.

Seriously hope this is true. Isn't U.S. Cellular CDMA??? :D

I hate to bubble burst but Android Central says:
Samsung, and carriers U.S. Cellular and Cellular South have announced the two newest editions of the Galaxy S phones headed to market -- the Mesmerize on U.S. Cellular, and the Showcase for Cellular South. Both phones seem to have the standard 1GHz Hummingbird CPU, four inch SAMOLED screens, 5 MP cameras, and will ship running Android 2.1.
BGR says:
If you’re rocking a contract on CDMA carrier U.S. Cellular, listen up. The company has just announced that they will be offering the Samsung Mesmerize; a full-touchscreen Android smartphone that carriers that Galaxy S moniker. Like all Galaxy S phones, the device will sport a Super AMOLED display (4-inch), 1 GHz Hummingbird processor, 5 megapixel camera, SWYPE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 3.0, and micro-SD card slot. The device will ship with Android 2.1 but will be upgraded to Android 2.2 “later this year.” The device will retail for $199 after an $80 mail-in rebate and will go on sale October 27.
Mobile Burn says:
Today at the CTIA Enterprise & Applications 2010 event in San Francisco, Samsung and U.S. Cellular announced the launch of the new Samsung Mesmerize, a Galaxy S based Android smartphone that runs on U.S. Cellular's CDMA based network. Like the Samsung Fascinate for Verizon, with which it shares many features, the Mesmerize sports a large 4-inch Super AMOLED(INFO) touchscreen display and runs a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor for application power.
The Android 2.1 powered Mesmerize is equipped with a 5 megapixel autofocus camera, with LED flash, that can also record 720 HD video clips. The phone sports a 3.5mm headphone jack for convenient music listening, and can store music and other media files on a microSD card as large as 32GB in size (not included) when the phone's internal storage is filled.
I could probably keep going but the point is made. This thing ships 2.1. Eris you probably read a typo frankly. The whole end of year thing jives much more in line with what all other signs point to.

Hey there Saps... do you always have to be the official PARTY POOPER! Can't you leave us in our ignorance so we can have some shred of hope in these dismal times?

I haven't stopped crying yet. :^( jk. I hope its soon though seems like were being left in the dark. I thought the kitten killing spree would've ended over at the Eris forums when we got 2.1. Now were at it again. Lol

So i have a question, everytime i donwnload an app, for the past 2hrs, i get a prompt to allow automatic updating, i thought this was a 2.2 feature, that is freaky! Haha.

I dont even know whether this is a 2.2 thing or my phone is on some sort of warped confused awesomeness, i am glad either way, just thought i would show you a screenie
