Has anyone been able to update to the official DL09? I have seen the links on Verizon and followed the directions and nothing. When I check for new updates the phone says there are none.

I really hope this fixes some bugs with the calendar.

I want to give the stock version a chance, I am a reformed ROM junkie from the Droid 1

So this will probably ignite a firestorm but here is proof Froyo test builds are out for the SF, not sure one has been posted here yet

... seriously?

Another downside to this: the shortage of kittens will certainly have negative ramifications as Easter approaches, kittens being second only to bunnies in pet sales for that holiday.

I am as patient as possible for updates, but for verizon...releasing a pdf about your update, yet nobody can get the update is an ALL TIME LOW!

Baby chicks will have to take their place, but then peep sales will plummet. No one wants to eat their new little friend, ha.

0655 hours on Tuesday, 1-11-11, and no update of any kind......

Geeze....feels like the Eris fiasco all over again......only now it's Samsung & Verizon.....not HTC & Verizon...

This may have already been stated, but I really think Samsung has shot themselves in the foot here. Verizon and Apple will announce the CDMA iPhone today, and anyone who has been having trouble or been dissatisfied with their device will likely jump ship. If Samsung had at least given us Froyo (Gingerbread would have been better), some of those issues or shortcomings would have been resolved and people wouldn't feel the need to move on to something else. The Galaxy S devices are amazing, and if properly supported and updated could have been a legit competitor to the iPhone - but not like this...

but anyone with any tech knowledge that has used the fascinate will not really be happy with the iphone imho, i know i wouldnt.
now people that just want a phone may, but i doubt that will last.

I agree with you - I have little interest in an iPhone, but I think I/we are in the minority of power users... I would wager that most people want something that is simple, solid, and fun - and the iPhone is targeted squarely at that majority. That may change as the level tech-savvy consumers continues to rise, but it isn't rising that fast...

The last figure I saw was that there was 10 million Galaxy S devices sold. Figuring that there is maybe, MAYBE 1 million people that rooted their phones (which is a really generous number), that is still 1 in 10. That leaves 9 million people that want something to work when they pay for it, as advertised without needing to Root and tinker.

Not saying there is anything bad with Rooting, hell, VW has one week to answer an email I sent them (fourth time) before I Root until the end of my contract. I really wanted to love this phone, and I do, but VW and Sammy has pushed me really hard back into Moto territory... and it seems that the BS winds are potentially pushing me into Apple sauce.

I just want my phone to do what they said it would do when Best Buy sold it to me. I already danced that dance with Best Buy, and there is not a thing they can do for me since it took customer noservice 23 days to tell me "2.2 is a software issue and subsequently a Verizon Wireless issue. I can get you their number if you like?"

im comming from the omnia. when i first got it gps was locked by vzw to only work with vz nav. there have been alot of strides in the pst few years.
things will come in time. you just need to be patient. i researched all the phones i wanted, and new the limits of them prior to purchase.

i have rooted, but not flashed, yet. but i have yet to see any of the issues mostpeople report. maybe im just lucky

Are you on di01 or dj05? And I don't think theres gonna be work done on dl09 because its pretty much a crap version of dj05. And the devs spent so much time on dj05 they look at it as a waste of time to mess with dl09
I'm on DI01 with just the DJ05 GPS apk applied. I'd like to think there's a reason lord vzw didn't release DJ05, but who knows at this point. Either way I still like the phone a lot, just would prefer to use code that actually passed validation testing and got released - need the phone for business, so I don't go too mod crazy.

Mine does, without rooting and tinkering, and very well at that. I don't understand what all the complaining is about. Seems to me it's the rooters and tinkerers who are doing all the complaining.

This forum would be of much greater value if people would write about how they use their phones, which apps they find most useful (and not useful), how they organize their apps, which widgets are worth having immediate access to, etc., and stop all the complaining. At least half the postings here in the past two months have been about the absence of Froyo. How many different ways are there of writing "I want to have Froyo?"

Has anyone contacted verizon regaurding this issue yet, I am also not being able to update this, and verizon has about two days to un**ck themselves or I am switching to an iPhone.

And the verizon iphone is here...stil sticking to android...will be getting a htc or motorola phone from now on...i think i want reliable updates more than i want a colorful screen.

Yes plus, the iPhone wont be 4G, I would rather go for the Droid Bionic, with the dual core processor. I just hate how much control verizon has over the update process, I feel that they will have less control with the iPhone's updates

doubt that. i believe apple went to vzw, not the other way.
but then thats me, and what do i know

#1 the 2.2 update right now is not in verizons hands its still samsung falling behind.
#2 once the iphone is distributed by verizon then verizon handles the updating process
