Not sure how many of you out there are fans of Blizzard Entertainment, but this just sounds very appropriate for the 2.2 situation:

Ha, awesome quote. I knew of the policy, I didn't know anyone had actually taken the time to write something like that up :p.

I've had SC 2.8 installed for a few days now, and have noticed three very annoying things:
1)Wi-Fi bug (discussed on the XDA forums) - doesn't always connect unless I enable it through settings...
2)Texts - I get messages upon turning my phone on in the morning about texts that had apparently actually failed the day before...
3)Battery - After a day of almost no use, I was down to 40% (this after erasing the battery settings, etc.).

I'd frankly rather be using the stock 'official' image at this point, but it's too much trouble to go back :|.

You might want to wipe everything and reload SC 2.8 again. I'm not having any issues with it.

I have, twice. My first installation featured several processes force quitting upon startup.

Speaking of adding the new version of superclean... I just added mine and had a couple questions that I know from following this thread for so long that some of you experts will be able to answer lol.
1. It seems my benchmark scores have noticeably gone down. Any reason for that?
2. For some reason themes won't install from ROM manager (I've never done it before, just tried it).

Thanks

FWIW I chatted with Samsung tech support.
Here is the text.
Parkin: Please go ahead with your queries.
Visitor: Hello. I have a verizon samsung fascinate. Can you tell me when software version 2.2 will be released?
Visitor: My car dock audio will not work with 2.1
Parkin: I understand that you are looking for android 2.2. Am I correct?
Visitor: yes
Visitor: Froyo
Parkin: Thank you for confirming.
Parkin: Unfortunately, as of now there is no official information on the release date of the Android 2.2 from Samsung and you will be notified by the carrier and in the Samsung website when/if the update is released. We are unable to speculate when/if a software revision might be available due to the fact that this might lead to inaccurate information and confusion.
Visitor: Thank you

They've been sling that same (insert bad word for caca) for a long time. They know nothing and don't even service the customers at all.

OMG...I was totally going to post my chat session with Samsung the other day. The answer was verbatim! They are totally pasting the same answer to all of us who are asking.

If we're never getting it, I'll take it back to verizon and make them give me a BNIB phone of equal or lesser value. How? Because I bought 2 car docks that I had to return for another accessory, not cash (which I didn't need) so I ended up with stupid plug in chargers and b/c I can no longer sync anything via USB on my mac. They will tell me to go back to the last version which I will reply "but GPS didn't work on the last version" I will speak to the store manager/district manager/whoever it takes. It's NOT RIGHT and they know it.

I pay way too much to have an inferior product to every other customer who pays the same as me.

well thanks to adrynalane I have plain Jane froyo so I fell complete. no problems or worries from now on. fact is i rarely visit this board cause i feel my phone is now complete.

So we've heard all the PROs to the leaked FroYo... Is there a compiled list of CONs to it?

With the walkthru link that you posted in the other thread, I'm REALLY considering rooting... but want to know the negative implications.

This just in: Fascinate froyo cancelled. Please return all docks to Verizon Wireless for a full refund.

Seriously?

Late September 2010: I go into buy my first smartphone and im REALLY excited. "Oh it doesnt have froyo, but it will come soon..." Ok not the biggest deal in the world, Ill wait, Im pretty patient.

December 2010: It will be out by the end of the year. Ok not the biggest deal in the world, but getting Froyo would be nice.

January 2011: Where is Froyo...where?

February/March 2011: Other Galaxy S phones get the update...still waiting...

Today: Froyo canceled. Big surprise, Samsung didnt come through. Thank you so much for ****ing up my first ever smartphone purchase. I should have gone with the Dinc or Droid X like my gut first intended. Im more than a little livid and the fact that they were dragging us around for this amount of time makes me even more pissed.

Yes I can root, but should I have to?! My phone is inferior to nearly every other phone released in the last year and I have to manually "break" it to get it to work right. I call 150% Grade A Bullshit. Im not doing that. It wouldnt be that big of a deal if 2.1 ran as smoothly as 2.2 or actually allowed me to download ALL apps (There are several 2.2 apps I was looking foward to).

Im sick of this shit. although I must thank Samsung. Thank you Samsung, you have made my next Smartphone purchase INCREDIBLY easier. Now that ive eliminated you as a brand to consider, I can focus on phones and companies that are actually worth my time!

I respect you root folks, but Im no longer supporting a company that does not stand behind its customers. Im sorry for all my language in this post, but Samsung can go **** itself!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

No word is ever final until Samsung itself says it's cancelled, which I doubt since it's on their other US SGS devices. It's not the end of the world with 2.1 right now, but someone who feels so strongly about getting 2.2 should just sum up the courage to root the phone. I can honestly tell you there's nothing you can't do when your phone is rooted. God forbid smething screws up...there's a solution for that.

I bought the phone in September (switching from a DX btw), rooted in October and started romming and adding themes in November. Since that time, I feel like I know this thing like the back of my hand. If it sounds like I'm telling you to root your phone, it is. I know you think you shouldn't have to, but that's what everyone in the mobile business wants you to think; why not unlock its full potential? There's plenty of people here who are more than willing to help with any step on your way in the process.

Don't rush it though. You'll make mistakes that you think can't be undone and learn from them. Here's a link to anyone's golden ticket if they're interested:

Good luck with whatever you decide:P
