Just checked my pre-order status...this better not be true...

I got this message too.

However... I also remember, when I initially ordered the phone on the 7th, I was getting the same exact message for a few hours until they changed the status to what we've been seeing for the last few days. It initially said something else generic, then it said backordered, then it had the special pre-order status for the Evo.

This may be wishful thinking, but this might just be a placeholder message until they finish updating with a new status...

With my 3D pre order about 1230 am is when my order status changed and shortly after received shipping info and phone came that day. Not that it means anything just saying they may just be updating the system for all the shipping notifications

I forgot about the original message shortly after pre order stating shipping on the 15th. But it does suck waiting and then you get that message. Lol. We love Sprit for a reason. I am just ready to get rid of this iPhone as someone is waiting to buy it Friday and I still need to nuke it.

I'm in the same boat. My 4s is already sold!

Well, after reading the new messages here this morn. I checked my order status. It says the same. Even yeseterday it was saying " Congrats on the Pre order . . . " I was surprised to see this delay noted. I'm SO eager for my phone. I ordered about an hour into the first day it was available for pre-order.

I'm sure they're not actually on backorder-- I ordered mine within the preorder becoming available (I was refreshing the page every minute or so). I'm getting the same message.

Guys don't panic. I work for a rather large online company (not as large as Sprint) at the upper levels and I deal with Operations quite a bit. What more than likely happened is that the phone is in fact back ordered. They more than likely sold out of stock the minute that email was sent. I'm sure their system sees this and just sends out a bulk email to everyone "just in case". The reality is if it is in fact back ordered, you will get your phone if you ordered a few minutes before that email was sent out.

Still no tracking # for me nor confirmation email confirming shipping!?!?! Anyone else!?!?

...slow your roll, son ;) It's going to be ok.

Not to derail things too much, but I'm curious; I haven't heard that many people jump from iPhone to Android. I kinda just assumed that even though iOS and Android has their differing strengths, that the iOS was always "good enough" and that combined with the inertia of investing in and committing to the iOS ecosystem would be enough to have people stay. Why are ya'll switching from the iPhone?

I had the original EVO, but when Sprint got the iPhone and my wife really wanted one. I decided to use my mother in laws upgrade to get the iPhone 4s (she doesn't even know how to text). The iPhone is ok, it's no android. But the fun thing is, I will have android and my wife will still have the iphone.

I called and spoke to a sales order rep. She said that was a standard message that is posted during pre-orders since it has been over a week since order and hasn't shipped yet. She did say they are shipping starting TODAY and should expect before Friday.

Thanks! I've gotten used to seeing the status change, even from hour to hour. Hope to see it change again today.

There are a ton of folk who jumped from iPhone to One X, for the first couple of days after the release of the International version, there were a load of iPhone -> Android threads.

Incidentally, the same question was asked there too: http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x/547334-why-so-many-ex-iphone-users.html

"Thanks for pre-ordering. You are one step closer to getting your phone. Keep an eye out for a shipping email with your tracking information. We will do our best to get it to you before others get a glimpse on Friday, May 18. For questions, visit sprint.com/preorder."

Looks like the old status message came back...

They probably got tired of everyone calling them.

A few reasons. I switched from the og evo when sprint got the iphone.

Can't stand the small screen
ios just makes it feel like a dumbed down version of a smart phone
lack of customization
no widgets!
