[Official] The "I have received Froyo!" Thread

Am downloading now...someone said we get Chrome to PHONE! YESSS!!!! i do alot of pictures and that would save like 3 extra steps!
I wish i could take a picture of my phone DL FROYO, i've been waiting so LONG! I would like to capture the moment! : )

That was a pain in the ass. I thought I bricked my phone... I used easy root to root my phone and when I did the update it would not allow it because I deleted the crapware. Well I had to use rsdlite and well it was not pretty. Could not get that damn thing to work either. Tried a factory reset and when I did the screen was black non of my hard buttons would work. What I did wrong with RSDlite was when I dl 4.7 it came with a file that I was suppose to copy and pasted in the program file. Once I did that it was smooth sailing. Thank god I was about to play hockey with this dang phone...lol

DL'ing now. Not excited to loose root, but hopefully an 'easy' root for Froyo will be right around the corner.
I'm at 85% after about 10 min. Not too bad.

Just woke up and checked and BOOM there it is! GOT THE UPDATE! Cleveland at 7:30am!

Downloaded update in 4 min. Install went OK, afterwards got stucked in moto screen. Waited 45 minutes, nothing happened. Pulled the battery and rebooted. Works OK!

I checked for updates this morning (5:30AM NY time), got notification of the available update.

I left the phone to download while I got ready for work, OKd it to install. The installation took approximately five minutes.

Thankfully, the update was non-destructive. All of my apps and settings were retained. Only my login PIN needed to be redone since one of the 2.2 updates is an updated login screen.

I haven't seen any big differences, but I haven't had time to look. The phone is working fine, and I'll examine the phone more closely this evening.

Good luck with your updates!

I got it at 12:01 a.m. this morning. I decided for the hell of it to try it and there it was. I immediately got on the forums but one user had already posted that it was available. Is this identical to the leaked version because I'm noticing a few of the same hiccups. Still glad to be back on 2.2 again though.

Downloading now just west of Chicago.

Does this OTA unlock the other 256 mb of RAM I keep reading about. I have not read anywhere somebody confirming that 2.1 only allowed us to use 256 mb of RAM and that this 2.2 Kernal would allow use to use the other 256 MB of RAM.

Please correct me or shed some light please.

I can confirm this is in fact true. Before with all my widgets and processes i got myself down to about 23mb available memory. Now with even more stuff running (same widgets but also random bloatware like Skype that i haven't turned off yet) i'm at something like 130mb free.

2.2 is sweet!

I downloaded the update, but delayed the install until I can read the warnings in the root forum.

If I can't get it oficially with root and deodexed so it can be bloat free, I'd rather get the leaked version instead.

Yay, got it.

But here's the bad:

ADB interface is not recognized in windows anymore. No more adb, even with the *.msi drivers UGH. Basically the interface is detected as a new interface, with no drivers.
