Before I do this, I'd like to know if someone else have done it.

People care too much about root.

By the way, where do I download this? In my SD card?

Ummm Dude, if you do anything with this on your phone you WILL LOSE ROOT!!!! That has already been established.

I don't have root. My EVO is an un-rooted, stock phone.

What you are saying that if I do this, and I want to root my EVO later I won't be able to root my EVO?

Forever?

It's this the confirmation?

Do we just copy the file to our SD card and install via the bootloader or whatever, or do we have to rename it update.zip (on a non-rooted device btw)

I am sure they will come up with root for this later.
I am downloading it now.

Probably not forever, but until the devs figure it out. It has been quick up til now but who knows.

If you're rooted, you don't need to rename it. just boot into recovery and install zip from SD.

If you're not rooted, I think you need to rename the file to PC36IMG.zip. Then reboot your phone, and it will pick it up automatically.

Not 100% sure tho.

NO.

If you're rooted now - meaning your rom has its permissions set in such a way that you can access things in superuser (read: root on unix, Administrator on Windows) fashion - then this rom will overwrite that, and you'll be back to out-of-the-box kind of user permissions.

There are no guarantees in life - but it's essentially unpossible for the XDA devs and unrEVOked geniuses and hard-rockin' Android-troop lovin' gang to not re-crack the code (so to speak) and come out with a procedure in the near future to provide root to this one.

Soooo ... flashing this ROM will result in basically a clean slate, all apps and other user data that's stored on the internal memory will be wiped out? I just know that's what happened when I put the Cyanogen mod on an HTC Magic. If that's the case, I may just wait for the OTA, and hope there's something built in to HTC's method that saves all that stuff.
