My Extras, yeah. However, Easy wi-fi is actually a useful app, but it's your phone.

Also, that list is for the LG Optimus (from MetroPCS) which came out November 2010. While many apps of those apps are also on the LG Esteem (from MetroPCS), it's not totally indentical. One example, Polaris Office seems to have replaced Think Free Office on the LG Esteem. Boingo is not on this phone (thank goodness!) and neither is Moca Space -- but other things are. So, that list is not totally accurate.

I also recommend installing something like Titanium Backup to back up all your files before deleting anything. Then, you can restore, if need be.

And take your time. Delete a few first for which you are 100% sure, then go back and clean up a few others. We're already getting people coming in here who deleted necessary files by accident. It's NOT a race.

This is a powerful computer in your hands. Would you go into your Windows directory and and just start deleting stuff you didn't "think" you needed?

Just download the free version of titanium backup and use that to delete bloatware. Just dont delete anything that you dont knkw what it is

If you use root explorer there is more then one location for program files which makes it more complicated for the average user. Also the files are under different names like com.blahblah.cha.
 
ok so lemme get this straight,
i dl the drivers and then install it to my PC, then after that i connect my phone and make sure that it is connected going to 'Internet Connection'
then lastly dl the 'oneclickroot' file provided, extract the run.bat, then run it from my PC...then restart phone...

that's it? i just want to make sure because the esteem is one powerful and awesome phone! dont want to do anything wrong

It's called metro playing with the 4G. It happened to me yesterday morning. 4G was on and off. Off again this morning.
 
I removed Talk App and Services, and Google Talk App. Was this a big mistake. Also what program is used to video chat. If I need these apps will someone give me the links? Thank you
 
UGHHHHHH i've been trying all sorts of different things to get these drives to install n it wont happen at all.. I'm so pissed.. when i click on the installer it just says preparing to install and then disappear.. Nothing happens (im using a windows xp). Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

I tried Open garden and it works great for my ipod but my android tablet didn't see the connection. Found wifi tether pre-12,apk for the indulge and set it to optimus and it works great until you close it and then it gives a popup complaining that the phone automatically shuting it down. A mild irritation but the app works flawlessly.

Google talk is needes for video chat unless you download a third party app off of the market. Google talk is not available in the android market. I will upload in when i arrive home. Dropbox is blocked on campus and my signal is crap in the building so i cant do it now
 
Hey mike im having apparently some issues with my esteem i rooted it following all your steps i have the superuser aplication on it an i could also download root explorer and i even download set cpu for rooted users but my phone never asked me for any permissions like it used to do on my indulge also im trying to rename the metro power on sound but its telling me is a <read-only> file.. thats using root explorer also im trying to hit the mount R/W button on root esplorer and it dont do anithing???? so I thinks my phone is not rooted or is either having a problem with the root i try to reinstall the root and it doen not let me pleas help me on this??? thankss Also check with root checker now and it saids i dont have root acces and check busybox install and i do have that ????
 
Hey guys the root works perfectly....I have a question I removed mostly all of the bloatware but for some reason having a problem with some, I removed IM SOCIAL and it's gone but now I have a icon on the applications that says "com.miyowa.an..." I've looked for it in root explorer but cant find it. Anybody now how I can remove this. Also I removed Rhapsody and mail@metro and mymetro and they all still show up are they under a different name.

Have you restarted the phone yet? I had the icon on my home page until I restarted then it disappeared.
 
Cool I did the restart and the annoying one is gone but still have the other 3 showing up... If anybody removes them lmk what you removed ...Thanks
