Optimus C=Optimus M??

we have that already for our phone. it was on our phone first then ported over to the c. i think theres minor diferences between the m and the c but im not sure

But wouldn't every ROM made for the Optimus C work for M and vice versa?
 
Theoretically, yes. But their are differences in each ROM designed for different Optimuses on different carriers.

The OM ROMS are built with MetroPCS APN settings. Not only the PRL determines your carrier. APN settings play a huge part.

As far as I can tell though, any Optimus ROM will work (with varying degrees of success) as long as you modify APN settings.

Data probably wont work though. Metro seems to be difficult with their data settings.

So if I flashed an Optimus C rom with a Cricket PRL onto my phone then my phone would actually now be Optimus C?? I kind of wanted to switch my phone to Cricket for a long time without having to buy the same phone....
 
No. Just because you flash a rom on it, doesn't mean your phone will magically work with cricket, there's more to it.
 
For the record, there are also slight hardware differences. For example, the Optimus S and the Optimus V have the home and menu buttons reversed.

You needa flash the cricket rom,prl, get your codes from Cricket. The service programming etc etc etc. Its not just flash then carry on. Takes time.

You mean getting it activated at a Cricket store right?? Which kind of sucks because I'm in south florida and theres isnt a cricket store anywhere, just dealers like best buy
 
Just to clearify, the optimus m and c are the same phone hardware wish and roms for either will install and work to a degree if installed. But things like data, mms, etc wont work without editing/modding. I dunno which actually had the ports of cm7 they had b4 Bob and I did em and reppard follow suite. And I mean built from src, not a rom for another phone made to work (dirty port). ;)

But any other Optimus ROM will not work on the C & M w/o a dirty port, which would require changing the kernel and other critical elements. A real quick and easy way to brick your optimus. ;)
 
Today I updated ROM Manager and it detected my phone as Optimus C...lol
When will Optimus M be added to ROM Manager?
Why wasn't it Optimus M/C? I mean both phones would use the same CWM if hardware really is all the same....
