Root Optimus Elite root with an apk

Okay... Issues, issues. I downloaded Ministro II and installed it with no problem. Got Poot-Debug and installed it no problem. Went to run it and received an error that "Your application has run into a fatal error and cannot continue" on my LG LS670 (Sprint LG Optimus S) I tried rebooting but all I get is that same error when I try to open Poot. Tried uninstalling, booting to recovery and clearing cache, rebooting, reinstalling and trying again, but I still get only that error and no helpful information.

Any ideas, guys?

This has been stated before about 15 other times throughout this thread. This wont work for every phone. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work, try searching for your phone and finding a root method there.

I'm having trouble finding the cwm link from my phone guess I'll look tonight on the PC.

Link to giantpune's post. http://androidforums.com/5284201-post1091.html

Instructions, Install the latest ministro II from the play store (not the original ministro), you will have to unistall the original ministro first if you have it. Download and install the LGOE_Noob.apk. Run the Noob app, it will install the new cwm. Boot to it with the Quick boot app. Make a backup first thing before you do any modding.

Worked perfectly on my one week old Elite. Just a couple questions.

1. So we are unable to use the supersu app?

2. Now I am rooted is it safe to remove poot and ministro?

Thanks ahead of time.

I used Superuser when I was just rooted. But the ROM I'm running is using supersu. I would just stick to what the OP said and use the superuser app, they both do the same thing. If you want to try, go ahead, if anything it might not work. Then use superuser.

Yes, you can remove them.

I didnt have any problems at all smooth sailing.

So......does this work on a ZTE Fury?
Please let me know!

Somebody asked this on xda-developers as well. And I copied giantpunes reply I think your phone is vulnerable to the Poot exploit. You should try this -http://androidforums.com/elite-all-t...-root-apk.html

Like the cherry w100, the exploit itself works and the app can write the su binary in /system/xbin. But I believe it will fail to clean up after itself, and toss up a warning like "You need to restart your phone" (See posts #129 and #130 in that thread). You will be free to install superuser and rootchecker and then reboot your phone to take care oy that cleanup stuff that it couldn't do by itself.

The link he directs you too is the original post on this thread.
The guy who asked the question tho tried poot.apk and it worked. To answer your question YES it will work on a Zte Fury.

Just wanted to thanks to giantpune for the work. This works great on the LG Zip LGL75C for ST. Been trying for months to root this phone because of the lack of memory. Now I can finally install apps on this phone.

Thanks.

Welcome to the AndroidForums, roofnron!

Thank you for that very nice post--I'm sure giantpune appreciates it.

Cheers!

I tried to download the poot and ministro apk files to my optimus elite and it keeps saying download unsuccessful.... anyway you can help

If you're talking about download issues on your phone, try using another browser like Opera--I've had random issues like that in the past that switching browsers for the download took care of.

Cheers!

Also try clearing the cache on the download manager app, located at - settings > apps > tab over to all > and select the download manager.

You're welcome. If you're curious, you can try the backlight exploit on that model. It works for rooting at least 5 different models of phones from LG, including a couple different Optimuseses, the L38C, E400, and L35G.

Everything I tried failed to root my phone up to this point.
Had your issue happen on my LG Enlighten with the first Poot version I downloaded. Was stuck for a bit. So Today I decided wtf, and downloaded all the versions that were listed in the first post. Installed and ran them 1 by 1. They all errored, but I did check for root every instance and the last one actually did work. Once that checked out I downloaded the Superuser app and now my Enlighten is rooted.
All I can say for the one that specifically did NOT work and gave me your error, was the file size was 304.67KB. If you have not, then try a different Poot, perhaps it will work for you.

ps: Thanks giantpune, much appreciate you making this available.
