Root Optimus V Frezing with new backside CM7 Rom, please help!

I just rooted my Optimus V 2 days ago following the instructions from the "[HOW-TO] Simplified Root + Recovery + Custom ROM" thread except for flashing the recovery image (VM670NH), I used terminal emulator. Let me preface by saying, wow it's liberating! no crapware and more freedom but I've experienced some problems.

1)The phone freezes every so often when waking the phone up and will not respond to anything. I can put the phone back to sleep but holding the power button will not show me the prompts to reboot, shutdown forcing me to pull the battery.
2)Other times, the phone responds and I can shut down, reboot but the top 3/4 of the screen is frozen with whatever I was doing and the bottom half responds. It happened to me during a txt today and I was able to take a screenshot which I attached.
3) Another Issue I was experiencing was a lag in the keyboard (using swype). when I go to a page and click enter it would take a while for the keyboard to minimize or when i go to a text box it would take a while to show up.
4)ADW.Launcher randomly tells me to force close.

Please let me know how I can go about fixing this.

First, that screenshot is  I've never seen that before.

Second, go to Settings>CyanogenMod settings>display> disable rotation animation.

Third, go to terminal emulator and type this:
su
fix_permissions
reboot

Hope this resolves everything.

appreciate the quick response sammyz! Yea, this has happened to me 3-4 times over last 2 days but not always has the top half of the screen frozen rotated, just this time. I'll try to take a screenshot if it happens again. I tried the fix_permissions before but didn't do SU before, so hopefully this fixes everything. I will report back if the bugs continue.

Thanks again

Yea, su makes a difference.

I've had that happen before. disabling the rotation animation as Sammy said, should take care of it. What baseband are you on? If your on zv9 you'll want to flash a different kernel or you'll get reboots

It's. Zv4. Still experiencing the keyboard lag and ADW.launcher randomly wants to terminate. TBD with others

I'm thinking that there was something wrong with Jerryscript's last build of backside because I/many other people have been having a lot more problems with it.

Hmm only other thing I can think of would be to try a wiping and flashing again. Did you format boot, system, data, cache, and dalvik cache on your first install?

I ran it for quite a while after he released it and didn't have issues other then the screen rotation problem..

I had the same problem and fixed permissions multiple times, to no avail. This is what I did:

Go to settings>applications>development and enable "stop app via-long press" and hold the back button when you need to exit an app.

Glad to see others are having same issues. In addition to the freezing I'm unable to turn off the sounds associated with typing (despite doing so under settings); I've attempted to awaken the phone by pressing the home button only to have half the screen (top half) be a keyboard and the bottom half the regular slide to unlock; and once after waking the phone there was a photo, set as background, of an older couple that I've never seen before.

Any help would be appreciated.

LG OV, 2.3.7, ZV5, CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC1-BACKside-IHO, kernel 2.6.32.9-v 3.7

FWIW, I'm running an earlier version CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RC0, kernel 2.6.32.9-v3.3 on another LG OV and it works flawlessly.

Your phone is going bizarre...I would redownload BACKside, and then reflash it. Also go through your microSD card and backup anything you need backed up, format it and put it back in..to get rid of whatever photo was in it.

Oh, man! I'm not the only one!!!
I've seen all these issues, all throughout many reflashes and redownloads.
Stock microSD and SanDisk Class 4.
Fixing permissions, disabling rotation animation,
it still happens. Less often, but the problems are there and I hate that so many people have great experiences with BACKside while I get the short end of the stick.
I guess it's reassuring I'm not alone.

What is your current baseband? What was original baseband?

Go into the BACKside updater and download/flash the build prior to the one your using. It's way more stable.

So you mean to download old version and update to new version? This happened before with MIUI GB....the OM port I built doesn't have these problems...

Just a note about the op's screen shot, mine has done that also...still does.
On mine, I have to "pretend" that I can see the lock/unlock, swipe it, and turn the phone so the screen rotates and it's all normal. Problem is, it has to be done really fast or the screen shuts back off.

Same.

I get some issues with the keyboard on my Optimus M, but with my V I don't have any problems except battery life. Good thing I have 2 :D

Original baseband: ZV4 2.2.1
Current baseband: ZV5 2.2.2

Optimus M
Original baseband: ZV3 MS690 2.2.1

I'm thinking of just ditching BACKside for Harmonia. That seems sleek and stable. I just hate the idea of backing up, wiping, restoring, relinking and rebooting again.
I did it on June 17 and it literally took me, like, 6 hours, with BACKside. My phone was perfect with no hiccups until June 21... then the problems flooded. But the details of that are in my Link2SD Blues thread.
Is there a way I can quickly switch from BACKside to Harmonia with all my data intact and linked?
