Orange 2.2 update

Orange has started rolling out Android 2.2, AKA Froyo, to HTC Desire owners, bringing a host of new features to the handset.
The over the air update started last night and takes up around 86Mb of space on devices, according to a Tweet from OrangeHelpers.
The carrier’s customer support Twitter account also advised that the rollout will be gradual, meaning that some Desire owners may have to wait longer for the update than others.

Read the actual thread and you'll see that it was first spotted in London...

EDIT: Read it in another thread, might've been on XDA - sorry!! :D

Give me some credit Ed, I actually have posted multiple times in this thread and have read all the comments. If you do the same you will see me and some others asking for an update in London Rollout as we have not got it yet. Also, 1st spot was on a twitter account from East Anglia yesterday which is not London.

I did say sorry. The other Orange thread on here has someone in London with it so it's probably done on serial number or something...

Did a manual check just a few minutes ago and it's available to me here in darkest Somerset - will do the download at home tonight when I have wifi available...
If it's relevant I've had my phone since 9th August.

When I check for updates it says its available Woohoo!! But it says download unsuccessful download was corrupted? Any ideas guys?

Nothing in Durham either. :(

According to the OrangeHelpers Twitter feed it's not being done on a geographical basis - the delays are down to congestion on HTC's servers. Orange's advice: keep trying.

Thats bollocks! I haven't noticed anyone from the Northwest with the update yet and i've been trying loads of times and no joy :( and i don't believe that there is a massive amount of people trying to update manually during the whole day.

Still nothing in North London. I do not believe this server crap they are talking about as I throughout the night. Surely the server has not been busy all that time.

:p Lol at this Orange cobblers!

I've been up 4 times during the night dealing with my children and tried each time to get the update. Busy server? Yeah right. Why not just make he update available via the Orange website and you can only install it with a valid Orange IMEI number?

Or is that too sensible?!

Assuming Orange aren't lying, it would seem likely HTC have messed something up. I've clicked the update button a few hundred times now at various different times of the day, and from different internet connections (wifi and 3g).

Chances are HTC are restricting the download in some way - possibly wrongly.

Whats the low down on the bloatware on the Orange ROM (commercial apps, game demos etc) and what features have been removed or disabled (gtalk)?

Tried a few more times this morning and still nothing coming through, wonder what the problem is............

It's likely to be at HTCs end, was the same thing with the generic OTA update the other week...think the OTA servers are overloading. Remember, the servers update ALL HTC DEVICES so it's quite conceivable that they're having issues

I don't think the Orange website could withstand that kind of technical setup. You only have to look at their piss poor forums to see that they must have a trained monkey developing the site for them. lol.

Or do it via the htc site as they did for updates for other phones (although I admit they do seem to have stopped doing that now for some reason)

So I emailed HTC customer support asking them what was going on, and now "Oliver" from their support team sends me this?!?!...

Hi Gary, We were informed that Orange withdrew the update to 2.2 for their customers. You will need to contact Orange and ask them what the current state of affairs is in regards to this issue.

What the hell?!
