Root OTA and root battery drain...

Ok I know that back on the OG Droid there were issues where when an OTA came out and you were rooted it would continue to try to update, however since a rooted phone stopped the update it would send it into a loop. This would cause severe battery drain since the phone would keep trying to update, there was never any notification that it was.

The solution to this was to go into the phone and delete a certain file. Today I have noticed that my battery is dying very fast and that my phone is running a bit warm. Anyone remember what the file was or what the file might be on the TB?

I am running DasBAMF Remix 1.6.3 with the kernel it comes with.

I thought I was losing my mind. I've been getting insane battery life recentely, but today I can almost watch it drain. I don't know about the file, I thought that the developer of whatever ROM you're running pulled those files out and made sure you couldn't update?

Yep they do, that was always part of the problem. The phone wont update because it can't, but the OTA keeps trying to download...

Let me look and see if I can find the information from one of the old threads in the OG forum...

Edit: Found it, and it looks like I had that backwards. Removing the file (OTACerts) was actually what caused the DL loop. I just checked the file (System/etc/security/) and it is there. So doesn't look like that is the issue.

Hmmm, this is weird my battery has been very very good on the combo I am running.

did you guys get a notification of the OTA from your phone? i thot the battery drain prollem was only afecting folks on rooted stock roms with lower than the ota firmware numbers.

since das is based on the latest OTA(1.13.605.7) now,you shouldnt have any prollems.

also, for what its worth,my batter was not only not draining,i for some reason had a better than normal battery day and came home with 45% :D

No notification here... Will see how well the battery does tonight and tomorrow.

I didn't get a notification either. I've noticed that today my battery seems to be back to normal. Not sure what yesterday was about, guess it was just a fluke

I've gotten no notifications at all. I'm on BAMF remix 1.6.3 and my battery life has gotten abysmal since yesterday. I've changed kernels and I have been trying to diagnose that but didn't even think of this as being a possiblilty.

More updates so VZW can get ready for the swarms of people who can't wait to get their hands on the Charge perhaps?
