Help OTA update 1.13.651.7 is live

I got the new ota update and installed it. The phone dialer shortcut is back on my lock screen. It didn't show up till I powered down and restarted the phone. First time I used the shortcut to go to the dialer, it was very laggy, but second and future uses were almost instantaneous.

Did that. Message said no updates available.

Did you check both Firmware and HTC updates? If your software is updated to the version in the title of this thread, then you may need to restart your phone and wait a bit for the subsequent fixes (HTC updates) to appear when you search for them.

Got it! Updating right now.

Hello all, first of all I'd just like to say that I'm new here; been lingering for a few weeks but now that I've joined the ranks of EVO/Android users (coming from Palm) I have questions, and the time has come for me to start posting.

I've seen a few scattered threads on updates but there seems to be no all encompassing thread listing all the currently available updates we should all have. I did get a notification for that first update to 1.13.651.7 but seeing as everyone seems to be having problems and everything now works as is I didn't install it yet, pending a clearer picture of all the available updates and what they do.

Can we start a list of those here? (and perhaps continue to update it as necessary)

Hello and Welcome to the forums!

This is our current update thread, so I've moved your post over here.

The first update only advertised that it fixed a calendar bug, but we know it added other things and broke a few things.

Following this update are 4 unnumbered updates that install or fix a) HTC Watch (2 of those), b) lockscreen fixes and c) widgets.

The number of actual codes impacted (per flipz - 24 hours with my Evo 3d) are: "WatchApp, HTC_IME (keyboard), phone, HTCAlbum, Mail, EReader, HtcGreader, Settings, Rosie, Calendar, HtcMusic, HtcAddProgramWidget, HtcContacts, JETCET_PRINT, Browser, Mms, Flickr, HtcLockScreen, and a number of other applications."

Personally, I think you're much better off simply accepting the updates so things don't get tangled moving forward - in other words, stay current.

Most especially because HTC is being max attentive to issue and really moving on updates.

We're expecting another very shortly to unlock the bootloaders to facilitate rooting.

Please also check out the Official Forum Guide (marked as one of the sticky threads at the top of this forum's thread listings.

And, maybe most important part - welcome to the 3vo club! :)

PS - In addition to these updates, user TheHoodedClaw found that the system has a Flash 10.3 update (likely for security) and one for Google Maps (those updates are common).

See the Official Support FAQ (listed in the Guide) for a good tip on how to set things like that to auto-update.

Thanks for the welcome :) This was exactly the rundown I was looking for.
Does anyone know what exactly the Widget update fixes? As I said before I haven't had ANY bugs/issues yet. I'm not planning on skipping any updates, but I would like to know what changes are going to be made before I install anything. I did find good info on the other updates.

I appreciate the moving of posts, it makes it much easier to find information. I have been reading on here for weeks while waiting for release day so I have a bit of an idea of how things work. I'm still fuzzy on the bootloader business but I doubt it'll be long before I'm knowledgeable on it.

I couldn't find the tips on auto updating, or any info on the Maps/Flash updates, are those from the updates menu under settings?

I'm pretty excited to join the 3vo club. Coming from a Treo 650 I'm seeing a huge increase in mobile device functionality, though the PIM out of the box on android is a bit lacking.

i have a question about some stuff. this mornig i woke up to application updates that needed to be done on the Evo 3D. the ones that were updated were: Default Lock Screen, Rosie Utility, Watch, and Watch Install Recv. Yesterday it updated HTC Sync. Now these 5 apps are in my downloaded apps (under the settings/manage applications list not my actula app drawer). they give me the option to move them to the SD Card....and I did with the HTC Sync but i'm wondering if i can with the other 4 as they seem to be for the os and stuff. can i move them to the SD card without causing an issues to the phone? thanks in advance

As a rule of thumb, I'd say leave HTC updates where they put them, certainly until we know better.

At present Sense has issues with wigdets on the sd card, for example.

Moved your post here btw.

Just got my Evo 3D yesterday. The phone was already updated to 1.13.651.7, but I got a notification for the OTA update for 4 apps today: Default Lock Screen, Rosie Utility, Watch, and Watch Install Recv.

I installed the updates just now and everything seems to be running well so far.

Anything different about the lockscreen?

No, I think it (the update for the 4 apps) was offered as early as June 24th or 25th (see EarlyMon's post above). I didn't do anything special, had my phone activated since last night, and the update popped up by itself.

The phone was pre-installed with the 1.13.651.7 update when I received it yesterday from Sprint.

Go to Menu (button) > Settings > About Phone > Software information.

It's the software number. If it says 1.13.651.7, you have the OTA.

What does this update? The firmware? Sorry for my ignorance :) just got notice there was an update so just wondering.
