OTA update jan 8.

Birmingham, Alabama here. The update was waiting for my wife and me this morning when we woke up at 5:15 (we both have the Eris). Installed with no problems.

i got the update in atlanta ga this morning when i woke up. i wish it was a more substantial update that fixed some of the bigger problems... i know for some people it was a problem and it is great that they dont have that problem any more but i think a lot more people have a lot more problems.

So does anyone know if they are still planning an update on the 22nd? Someone posted a document detailing the known issues and in what release they would be fixed. This update just fixed the locking issue, but according to that document there are other issues scheduled for the Jan. 22 update. They really must have thought this locking issue was a huge priority to send it out ahead of another scheduled update.

The real issue is...has anyone had any lockups AFTER this update -I havent but the lockups were intermittent so it isnt definitive.

Never had the locking up issue, but after this update my phone seems more responsive. My co-worker has the same phone and doesn't have the update yet in the Chattanooga, TN area.

I got mine. I found loading web pages to be slightly faster as well as the camera seems to be taking better pictures.

I could be hallucinating.

Probably hallucinating.

It is interesting to me that either: Verizon/HTC really through in a few more bug fixes and didnt tell us, OR:
People so much want to believe that something is better that they see it that way. Observation bias. "Yeah, yeah, I am wearing that amulet, and I think the phone is a little snappier. Not so much that I could MEASURE, just feel a little snappier..."

Not sure what the deal is, but my WiFi would not work at any location since update. I re-booted the phone several times and it still wouldn't work. All of the sudden it is working again? YouTube app also appears to be working since update?

I'm in a suburb of Manhattan and got my update notice when I turned on the phone this morning. Did update. No problems at all. YouTube working. No force closes, all good.

I got the update today. After reading the posts about the update messing up the contents of the SD-card, I quickly unplugged the card then updated. After the update finished, I turned the phone off, plugged the card back in and restarted the phone.

Happy! Happy! Joy! Joy! It worked perfectly, even though I never had any problems.

Got the OTA update this morning in the Madison, WI area. GPS seems to be working better but battery life seems even shorter now. Not sure what that is about, I'll have to watch it over the next couple days.

I wonder if they are sending it out by build date? Or activation date? It seems too random to be anything else...

Update just installed in Jacksonville, FL. Everything working normal :-)

Edit: May be imagining things, but it seems to be a bit snappier after the update!

I just got the OTA update here in California. It really feels zippier than before. I don't think I'm imagining it, either. What do you guys think?

Just got the OTA Update in the South East Texas area, ROM: 1.17.605.1/ Radio: 2.32.40.11.09 at 01:00 (+06:00).

It's a simple update, but at least it's a fix for something.

And as far as everyone talking how they should be fixing all these Pre-installed apps on the Eris.. give them time. Remember, they have.. how many phones they have to configure the OS and System updates to work with each phone, as well as each wireless service provider. Not to mention configuring the update for the SENSE UI, that mimics the HTC Touch line. HTC is possibly one of the best phone electronics companies to date, no complaints here. Lovin' my DROID Eris to death. I personally enjoy having random updates to look forward to. Compared to other phone manufactures that release a phone and MAYBE, fix one problem the entire life of the phone.. we have it good with HTC. Eris is still considered lesser than the Moto DROID but the Eris still kicking Moto

I agree. Based on perception if feels faster. I have noticed certain things feel quicker. This is not beyond the realm of possibility. While writing the code to fix the lock issue they may have optimized some other code, which may or may not speed things up which is why they would not list it as a part of the update. Call it a boon.
