UNROOTED
Device Build Number: 3.70.651.1
Android Version: 2.2
HBoot Version: latest (downloaded yesterday)
unrevoked Version Used: 3

QUESTION:
Please excuse my greeness as I have been reading and getting up to speed. I seem to have partial root and S-OFF. Unrevoked ran all the way through and then gave me the "firmware too new?" message.

I have been searching for where to go from here. I have not wiped my evo or wiped my SD card at this point.

I have run the Applist backup, My BackupPro, etc. (I did try running Unrevoked the first time without Applist backup installed) Thanks in advance for any help.

I saw a reference to trying it with the SD card unmounted. I'll try that next.

See if you can get into recovery. If not, you will need to flash a recovery:

Go to this link: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/259446-clockwork-amon-ra-pc36img-files.html

Download the PC36IMG.zip file for Amon RA 2.3. Follow the directions to flash it. When you are done with that we can go to the next step. This will give you a recovery that Unrevoked was supposed to flash but failed to.

If recovery is working, just do a nandroid and go on your way!

In my case, the rom itself was not rooted either. Not an issue if you are planning on flashing another rom. Make sure you do a nandroid backup once recovery is working!

Thanks guys. I turned off my wifi and ran it again (granted it was after I placed the PC36IMG.zip file on my SD card) and it seems to have worked this time!

Now on to a nandroid backup this evening!

make sure to take off the pc36img file from your sd card or it will try to install everytime you boot into hboot.

Have fun!

Actually you may want to leave it on just incase something really bad happens. It is easy to tell it no when it wants to try to install it.

Hmm, wierd, when I told it no, then tried to do something (dont remember what now) it kept going back to install Yes/No? I had to remove it...

It should give you the option to install it and then the option if you want to reboot. You should just be able to tell it no then go into recovery.

i keep one on my card. i just rename it so that hboot will not see it and scan it. if i need it i can go in and rename it back to PC36IMG.
