PDANet or Tether?

Why does it matter if I am using the data on my smartphone, or my laptop through my smartphone? Same data, just different platform to view it on. Why should I have to pay more because I want to view it on my 17" screen vs. Inc screen? I pay for unlimited data, why should I have to pay more just because I route it to a larger screen??

Though in my heart I agree with what most is said here, I find it awful hypocritical that we feel we can dictate a business in what we think we should do. We sign a contract with Verizon, get their phone, use their service but tell them we will do what we think is fair for us regardless of the contract we all willingly signed. Without the network they offer, the pdanets type apps would be worthless. Just because we think its unfair or wrong, really doesnt give us right to change a contract we signed.

Again, my heart agrees that Verizon should not care about what device we use for our data, but fact is, we agreed to the terms. Im sure there are business owners here that would not want a customer come to them and say we don't like what your doing, so though we signed a contract, we are going to do whatever we want, regardless the effect it has on you.

Im prepared to be flamed, but interested in how people talk themselves into that the contract they signed willingly doesn't apply to them.
 
I use PDAnet full version at discounted price to, love it works so well, great speed and can use the phone internet at the same time as laptop, which if you tether natively or using Verizon dun, disables the phone internet and you only have internet via the computer.

I also use wireless tether if i'm out and about, but use PDA at home :) as my phone is my only internet connection living out here on my boat.
 
I started out with pdanet when I got the Incredible, maybe a few weeks later, but still. I had the free version and it worked great, but I don't have internet at home, so I went ahead and bought the full version, worth every bit of it! ONLY site I can't go to is myyearbook.com lol. & I have to refresh droid-life.com a few times before the page will load up. Does anyone know what that may be about? I am running mac os X, the same problem occurs on safari, mozilla, and chrome.
 
I started using PDAnet yesterday and it's flawless but I also have Wifi Tether and I don't seen to get it to work.

Anybody knows the procedure or where's a link that explains all the steps needed, thanks.
 
I tried the trial version of both and both worked fine. I tend to like PDANet better because it shows your up/down data usage real time on the screen. I have both installed but haven't really had a need to use either since I don't travel much to places where I don't have my own private broadband connection.
 
what is pdanet.... oohh yea its that thing i used to tether with before i rooted my phone it was great but now there is no need since i have wifi tether :)
 
Or search the forum for "Tether Natively" to tether via USB without rooting, for free. No software needed.
