Why take the chance? Being able to help others with their cellphones is no reason for me to take the chance to ruin what I have with mine.

Look at it this way. Getting the official 2.1 build download to a dev will further the progression of 2.1 based roms. People on the leak, 1.5, or other root builds would have the ability to upgrade to a stable, optimized build.

Yeah, you'll help a bunch of impatient folks, but you will also help the devs. I offered to buy a beer for the guy that uploads the valid URL. That offer still stands.

I apologize i didn't realize. i haven't ever got an app update like that.
Hey, no worries it happens

If i remember right jamezelle disabled ota updates on senseable so you probably wont get the OTA.
but if you want to make sure look in your /system/etc/security
and if you see a otacerts.zip rename it to something else like otacerts.zip.nothanks

Look at it this way, what if I don't want to lose my root? Look at it this way, what if I do this battery pull you are talking about and brick my phone. Are you going to give me a new one? Oh wait, you are gonna give me a beer so that makes up for it.

To expect anyone to lose access to something they enjoy or potentially break something that they enjoy, just because others are impatient, is mindblowing.

or brick the phone, i would be damned if i pulled my battery in the midst of an update unless i was gonna get it replaced anyway.

but i would do the update if i could log it, imagine all the fame and "thanks" you will get for it. you would be the eris king, and otd could be your queen

OTD be a queen to someone???
I wish the update would hit my phone, i think she'd be an awesome queen and I an awesome king!

OK, you don't want to lose root access - don't do the update. Don't log the URL. No one is asking YOU to do anything. Bow out of the thread, move on to bigger and better things.

I mentioned there was discussion over on XDA about pulling the battery before the update is applied.

# 1 - I didn't link to the discussion because it was just that, a discussion. It was an idea tossed about because there are people willing to log the URL so long as they don't lose root.

# 2 - If you brick your phone because YOU threw caution to the wind and pulled your battery during an OTA download, it isn't my fault. I brought up the battery pull as an idea - not a solution. Just as if you bricked your phone while installing root, would you hold the devs accountable for bricking your phone? No.

# 3 - You are just being an ass, plain and simple. I'm offering a slight monetary reward being a virtual "thanks" for getting a URL. I'm not forcing anyone to get the URL. Would I like the URL early? Yes, we all would. Is it going to happen? Depends. Venomous comments like yours, which basically suggest there is no reason to do anything nice for anyone anymore, will likely succeed as you endeavor to prevent anyone with root from logging the URL.

Let the early OTA receipients make up their own minds. If I want to spend a couple of bucks and buy someone a beer for doing it, let me. Its up to them to weight the risks / rewards of logging the URL. If it isnt' worth it to the, they won't do it. If they have a phone to spare and really don't care they might.

If 10,000 phones are getting the update today, there should have been a lot of people on here that got it..

Something is up that is for sure..

Angry? High in anticipation maybe but not angry. We have been given the run-around one too many times now. Just want to see someone with true 2.1 OTA update. ahhh...

I agree. I know everyone is trying to say it is a slow rollout, and I understand that. I also realize that this is still a very small sample of the entire Eris population.
However... I dont know the exact time of the last reported OTA, but I am sure it is nearing 24 hours now since anyone here has reported receiving it.
Nothing on that facebook page people were watching since yesterday as well.
I really expected at least a few more here to get it. This is crazy.

VZW has a history of a small initial rollout (1000-5000), take a day to gather reports of issues related to the initial rollout, and then sending the rest of the masses over a period of time.
